    Based on another's playing

I rented this game for my 6 year old to try out. I had to pretty much give him a time out in order to get him away from the game. The first day he played it for over 5 hours. I was concerned that he would find it difficult because he had never played my PS3 before. He figured most stuff out on his own. Only one time did I have to actually take over and get him pass a task. I didn't save the info so the next day he started over from the beginning and managed to get even farther in the game in a very short time. He loved the fact that he is using legos and that it is Harry Potter. Personally I didn't see the interest in the game. I was actually getting annoyed hearing the block pieces constantly click around.

My grandchildren love playing Lego Harry Potter game. The graphics are excellent. It takes them on adventures that excite them. They love how they can have their character crush items like boxes to find items they can use while on their quest.

    Detailed and long

I am a big fan of the Harry Potter franchise, so I was excited to play this game. I love how you are able to explore pretty much every area of Hogwarts and the world of Harry Potter you could imagine (within the years 1-4). I also enjoyed the humor that the guys at Lego weaved into the game. The story line doesn't really deviate from the books/movies, which was to be expected. And it took a little getting used to none of the characters talking, only grunting sounds, I currently have about 24 hours of playing time on the game, and I'm still not finished, which I like. It's nice not to finish a game in 2 or 3 sittings. However, the game is a bit repetitive, with a lot of wand aiming, casting spells, etc. But I didn't really expect anything different. Overall, I have very much enjoyed playing this game, and will more than likely invest in the Years 5-7 installment.

My 7 year old niece and I love it!

Like all Lego games, this provides a funny, light-hearted take on Harry's earlier adventures. It's easy enough for kids to get into, but challenging enough to be enjoyable to adults. If you have kids/nephews/nieces that love the Harry Potter movies, you need to get this game!

    Love the game

I bought this game for my grandson... him and I have had an awesome time playing it and figuring it out... I love time together with him and this game gives us that... Of course he is always telling me I am going the wrong way. The only thing I don't like is the fact that the screen will divide if you get to far from the person you are with..

    Fun, fun, fun

This game is so much fun to play, the characters are brilliant, as in the books and movies. Although the story does not run in perfect alignment with the movies, it is very close indeed. This is great entertainment for adults as well as children.

    Fun to play especially cooperatively

Has all of the usual problems of the Lego game series but we still have a lot of fun with all of them. I would rank this one below Star Wars and Batman but definitely higher than Indiana Jones.

After legoindi 2 I was a littler weried about picking this one up as it seemed they some how went away from the standard lego mechanics that make the franchise so awsome. Then came lego harry and it seemed to hit the mark they srayed from and was awsome, but then came the glitches. basically on the ps3 i can't get into the last 10 bonus boards and on both the ps3 and xbox 360 i can't get the character madamn maxime.

Game freezes- the screen freezes and PS3 freezes!

    Posted .

So, being a HUGE Harry Potter fan I initially thought this game was fantastic. The game is fun and really entices you to keep going, BUT the game has glitches in which causes it to freeze. My game freezes during year two so I am unable to continue. Before this freeze we played for hours, now we're at a standstill because the company has not and doesn't appear to be willing to supply a patch for the glitches in the game. Do your research before purchasing this game. The LEGO games are known for their glitches and freezes and for the price of the game, think to yourself, "Is it worth the price?". Knowing what I do now about the game, I would not have purchased this and wish I had known ahead of time and before spending $53.00 on it. Don't waste your money!

More glitches than ANYTHING I have ever played.

    Posted .

I love the Lego games, and I would love this one too, except for the major glitches which will NOT allow one to complete the entire game. 1. Two levels are COMPLETELY unplayable in Free Play mode. 2. One of my unlockable characters shows a big gray square in the character list, and on the screen which shows the 3 unlockable characters for that level. I don't remember which character, but it was a female. 3. In the leaky cauldron, the door handle that you are supposed to pick up is sometimes unable to be picked up by any character (that is if you are lucky enough for your AI partner to lift you up to where the handle is). 4. I've planted that annoying screaming plant in the pot before, and somehow, he got out of the pot by himself. 5. As most everyone has mentioned, there is the dreaded problem with getting trapped in the dungeon of the spell training class room. I got in and out once, but I won't be going back in again. 6. When enemies are attacking, your character will most likely take aim at everything on the screen EXCEPT for the enemy. I've found it best to destroy everything on the screen before trying to clear out all the enemies----the wasps are the best example of this. 7. In boss battles, when you have to levitate and hurl something at the boss, it is completely unpredictable which of the purple-highlighted objects will actually be hurled, and which of them refuse to be thrown and end up hitting your character for damage. This can make easy battles extremely frustrating: the snow ball battle, and Moaning Mertyl 8. I haven't seen the red brick indicator work at all, in any level. I haven't even seen a delivery owl for the red brick in most levels. How, oh how, could a quality check miss glitches that won't even let you finish the game. It's frustrating, unpredictable, incompletable, and the fun grinds to a complete halt when you realize you are completely powerless in being able to win this game. There is no ETA on a patch, but a patch is waaaaay overdue compared to other video games taking care of business in a timely manner.

GAME ENDING GLITCH WITH NO FIX!!!

    Posted .

In one of the classrooms there is a glitch that will immediately end your gaming experience! Do not go through a trapdoor in one of the classrooms because you will not be able to get out! WB Games say they are looking into the issue, but no fix is available. It is an amateurish glitch that should easily have been found in testing. It isn't just me, people are posting all over the internet in forums and reviews. Don't waste $50 on a game with a monumental glitch!
