Nice addition, but fun by itself

Even if you didn’t have the starter pack, the set was fun to make. With Mario (sold separate), he will respond to this set. If you don’t already own Mario, it’s a still a fun set to build but it won’t be interactive with sound. Purchased as a gift for my 9 year old nephew who enjoys building legos.

Mario connects to your phone/tablet via Bluetooth and recognizes what parts of the courses he's interacting with based on the color of the bricks he's on or based on bar codes on some of the special tiles.

Im trying to find things to get him off the computer and video games so we can do stuff together. I think this was a good idea.
