We have had this laptop for a few weeks now, and it is holding up to my son's consistent use. I would definitely recommend. The price was good, although I missed the better price the day before. Bestbuy wouldn't honor the price from the day before.

Great computer for 31 days. I really wanted to love this computer but now it is crashing and I have had to take it back to Best Buy who have waived some fees but of course won't take it back even in exchange. Going to pick it up tomorrow and see if it's working again. BB blamed it all on Windows 10 so we'll see.

I purchased both my laptops from Best Buy and they both have been excellent choices. I upgraded to the Y700 and glad that I did. After a long conversation with Connor, I'm happy with his recommendation.

Touchpad not designed well. Not a good gaming machine. Good for school. You get what you pay for.

I bought this laptop when it was offered as a opened box thought I was getting a great deal I was wrong. The cpu usage was high and the disk usage was high this was happening when nothing was on the laptop only the system apps that came with it.

Isn't as fast as it should be, gets hot! Operating system has needed to be reloaded 3 times in the year I've owned it, definitely overheats when using anything graphically intense, WoW or D3 or even D2.

The hard drive is the biggest inhibitor of this thing. After boot, it runs great, but boot time is abysmal.

Video Card Correction & Benchmark

The discrete video card is incorrect on the website. The laptop has a R9 M385X discrete video card.
To give you an idea of performance, here are couple common benchmarks you can use for comparison.
**Note: everything was ran with default settings **
3dMark 11: 4193
Firestrike: 2422
You'll probably be playing most modern games at medium settings and older games on high.
Are there better laptops? Of course, but if you're on a budget this is one of the best price/performance laptops.

Solid Entry Level Gaming Laptop

I really like this laptop. I wish I could say I love it but I cannot. I have two main issues keeping this from being a great laptop.
First, should you decide to upgrade the RAM you are relegated to using DDR3-1600. This is not a limitation of the chipset but the bios firmware. Lenovo has chosen to give a very limited bios in terms of options and it reduces the potential capability of this laptop. The processor and chipset in this laptop are capable of DDR3-2133 so it's a shame that the limitation is there since the additional memory bandwidth would go a long way in speeding up the APU.
Second gripe, and this is linked to the performance limitation, is that the processor in this laptop can't quite keep up with today's games. You'll find that many games will utilize the APU at 100% and performance suffers. 2 titles I have noticed significant stuttering in are Dying Light and Cities Skylines. The GPU is completely capable of running those games at 30+ fps at high detail settings and it does, but when the APU pegs at 100% you'll see stutter in the games.
One thing that should be noted is that the discrete video card in this laptop is indeed the R9 M380, it is seen as the R9 M385X since it is crossfiring with the APU's onboard R7 graphics unit.
Also to the reviewer that said they couldn't get the unit open, you may want to try reading the hardware maintenance manual before blaming the case not opening on your user error. This unit actually opens up quite easily for such a sleek unit, unlike Samsung laptops which require special tools.
Overall I'm content with this unit, I just wish there was a laptop out there that had an Intel i7 quadcore and an AMD GPU.
