Has issues with Windows 10 as if it were upgraded to it. Everything freezes for a second every 5 to 10 seconds. Restarting helps for a while.

Posted .With regard to the right shift key issue you mention, there is a free software APP called KeyTweak that may help you. You can switch the key functions of specific keys on your keyboard with this software, so you could change the right shift key with the key you hit in its place. Just Google search "KeyTweak" and you will find articles about what the software does and you will find the download location for this free APP. With regard to Windows 10, there may be driver updates for your specific system. Follow the link below to look for new driver updates for your specific system. You can also run diagnostics from the Lenovo site as well. As always, be sure to create a restore point on your system before you make any changes. You can do this by just typing "restore point" in the search window within Cortana and follow the link to create a restore point. Here is the link:

Trackpad is a weakpoint - not very sensitive nor a lot of travel, so ensuring button presses means pushing hard. Otherwise it handles everything I need. BTW got them on sale in the clearance for 40% off!

Great basic laptop

Love the fact it still has a cd/dvd drive. The only glitch is the right hand shift key is too far to the right. I've been trying to get used to that. The Lenovo Companion app is fantastic. You can control the updates (if you want them or not) through the app. This helps as I am on a metered internet at home. Quick start up and shut down, all in all a decent laptop.

If you get key tweak (google it) you can switch the key to the up arrow key. If you don't know how to type this point is moot. As for the laptop itself - except for having to learn Windows 10 (I go all the way back to DOS) I love it. The price was excellent ($269) and it IS fast - of course I'm not a gamer obviously. Very happy with purchase and battery life!

My old Dell is heavy and old and running windows 7 and it is on it last legs so i thought of the Lenovo's and so far i am loving it.

If you are just looking to access the internet and do basic tasks this has everything you need. I'm not a big fan of Windows 10 but that really has nothing to do with the laptop. For the price you will be happy with this purchase.

With regard to learning your way around Windows 10, you may want to try YouTube.com (just type that address in your browser address window). There are hundreds for free instructional videos there about Windows 10. Just type Windows 10 Introduction in to the YouTube search window. You can watch free videos there that will show you the basics all the way up to tips and tricks videos and they're all free.

My only criticism is it may come too fully loaded with software starters that you have to renew after your 1st couple of months. This tends to create an added expense that is hidden for the first few months.

Great Laptop So Far

Most of its time in use was spending a day taking Windows 10 updates from Microsoft. It is the only one out of 3 other machines that I was upgrading to get through the process completely, in one attempt. It was then used for a while to browse the web, look at emails and set up some optional software packages. It is surprisingly fast for a for a computer that costs $280.00. It has a decent Intel Core I3 processor and enough RAM, 6GB, to do more than one thing at a time.

You will still get alerts when there is an update available, but you will be able to decide when to allow the update. This will give you the opportunity create a restore point before you allow the update and you can select when the update occurs. To change the automatic update settings in Windows 10, click on the magnifying glass icon at the bottom left of your Windows desktop screen. Type "automatic updates" in the search window. Select "Windows Update Settings" from the list of choices. Select "Advanced options". Under "Choose how updates are installed", click on the dropdown menus and select how you want Windows updates to occur.

Posted .With regard to the speaker volume, you might try going in to Properties for sounds/speaker. For Playback, find the Enhancement Tab. Find Equalizer. Change setting to Powerful.
