Great laptop for students

Most of their assignments are done through Google docs so I needed something reliable for them. I've had this over a month now and it has been perfect for them. Posted .With regard to the right shift key issue you mention, there is a free software APP called KeyTweak that may help you. You can switch the key functions of specific keys on your keyboard with this software, so you could change the right shift key with the key you hit in its place. Just Google search "KeyTweak" and you will find articles about what the software does and you will find the download location for this free APP.

Decent Laptop with issues too soon

I work on a computer all day, so I don't have much interest in spending hours on one when I get home too. Just needed something for light internet browsing, saving/editing pictures, etc. Within two months of purchase, it got stuck in what the internet calls the "Automatic Repair" loop. After trying numerous troubleshooting suggestions, I finally called Lenovo. The tech tried to tell me it was a malfunction of Windows and that my only option was to perform a factory reset. Given the short time I've owned the computer (not much saved to the hard drive yet, thankfully), I proceeded to attempt said factory reset while on the phone with her; the laptop couldn't even revert to factory settings. I'm now in the process of sending it for repair with the company. Lesson learned - back up data more regularly. Never expected a brand new laptop to have issues so soon.

Posted .Before you send the device in, you might want to try this: This system is equipped with OneKey Recovery System. There is a very small pin hole on the left side of the device, right near the headphone jack on the device. You will need a pin to push this reset button. Plug the device in. Let the battery charge for about 15 minutes. Push the reset button. The system should boot to a choice screen where you can choose "Restore To Factory Default". Select this. It will delete everything from the hard drive except the original factory install of the operating system. You will need to reinstall all programs and files after the reset. If you don't have copies of the files, try to make one before you restore by selecting "Boot to desktop" and trying to back up your files.

It's next to the page up key. So, I mistakenly hit the page up A LOT. The shift key is also smaller than usual. After 6 weeks with this computer I've learned to work around it but it is bad design.
