The Good: I really like the Lenovo Laptop Gaming Version. It is powerful enough to run my financial programs at the same time as running very large and complex spreadsheets. The screen 17" is super - large and clear enough for me to see - I am 59 years old and a large screen is key. The keyboard is excellent, the keys are backlit and organized so when typing you don't hit a wrong key and it has a 10-key. The bad: I have had 3 Lenovo Laptops and it was the first Laptop that persuaded me to purchase the next two. That said, the second laptop was everything I described but with a grave exception. Just over a year after purchase, I opened the Laptop and the the left side of the spine broke off. I took it to Best Buy and I thought if I touched it would break off entirely. On the way, the top fell down to close and after opening a second time, the inside spine broke off - see picture. I purchased the same Laptop but with a few upgrades and the screen immediately showed a light flicker that increased in rate after 10 minutes or so making the screen impossible to read. I returned the laptop. Best Buy, by the way, was fabulous with all the returns etc. Coincidentally, I was contacted by a Lenovo Business Department Manager and I informed him of the above. Lenovo was not prepared to offer any consideration for all the hassle or money spent on data transfers in order to purchase another machine. As Lenovo had reached out to me, I thought this particularly poor. I did not purchase another Lenovo. To sum up, a great machine but I would purchase extended care because Lenovo will not stand behind their product.

I initially wanted a laptop for school, but quickly realized that my Mac was not going to cut it for the architectural program. This Lenovo has and exceeds the memory capacity and processor to take on rendering which is needed.

I bought the laptop specifically for gaming. I chose this one because it was on the lower end of pricing that met my minimum requirements. Graphics card is important if you plan to play games after all. I've had it several months now and have had no issues with performance. Even upgraded OS to Win10 flawlessly. The keys of the keyboard feel so nice to my fingers, soft but solid. I didn't know before this how much keys on a keyboard could really impress me. I've only come across one thing that I would change if I could. While I love how the inside casing it a nice flat black color with a stylish bevel flowing to the keyboard, I found it does pick up finger and handprints easy. I find myself cleaning it often. It does clean of with my microfiber cleaning cloth from my phone. I recommend getting a cooling lap table for it. In about a half hour of something like Diablo it will start getting pretty toasty on your left leg if you have nothing there. And in the best interest of the laptop, it would be a sound investment. I haven't used the touchpad much, I'm not a fan of them. What little I did use it, it seemed appropriately responsive. I'm glad you can disable it since I use a mouse instead anyway. With the big size of the laptop, I was able to trim a mousepad (just to protect the laptop's surface) and set it on the bottom corner and it works awesome! I forgot to pay attention to sound when choosing this laptop so it wasn't until I was unpacking it that I even saw that it had JBL speakers. They do sound very nice. I keep watching Netflix here instead of grabbing the TV remote. Overall. I love my laptop. I was actually talked into getting one by someone else and now I can't imagine not having it.

I bought this to replace a broken laptop with the hopes it would be able to play games online. So far no troubles playing games like DOTA, CoH 2, or SC2 on moderate to high settings. The keyboard is well spaced and easy to type on. Sounds great and the upgrade to the new Windows OS was free ! The only drawback is the unit runs very hot while gaming and the battery life (even while simply surfing) is very poor. Machine overall comes as advertised .

In the past, our family has purchased lower end/lower priced laptops. They have always been slower and have always been looked upon as throw away machines. This time, we decided to upgrade to a faster and more expensive piece of equipment. So far, it has worked out very well. The touch screen takes a bit getting used to, but that can be turned off. Recently, we also purchased an Apple laptop for one of our children who is attending college. I know that the Apple community raves about their products. So this will be a nice little test for my family to see which one is actually the better computer. The price of the two computers are about the same. Thus far and from my vantage point, the Lenovo performs just as well as, if not better, than the Apple. The Lenovo screen is actually much larger. And the software that is available for the Lenovo far exceeds the Apple. Hopefully, this Lenovo will hold its own against the Apple. Time will tell.

This laptop is great but its battery life is pitiful. Even though it says the laptop lastes 4 hours on in the specs, it really lastes about 2 hours or maybe 3. But still i love gaming with it anyways, and also, the speakers are amazing. They are really good for listening to music and playing games. Overall, this laptop is perfect as long as you keep it plugged into the charger. If you are a person looking for a small laptop, THIS IS NOT FOR YOU.

For the money, the specs are unbeatable. Benchmarks are great. Runs current games on medium-high (not ultra) the issue is the hybrid drive. It's junk. It's glitchy. When I loaded windows 10 it ran considerably slower than a hard drive. Slapped a ssd in there and the whole thing is perfect now. Also it's a fingerprint magnet.

Modest gaming laptop, reliable business laptop. Solid performance, with an "meh" battery life. Lovely 17 inch monitor and decent sound. The keyboard is crowded -- they could have spread it out and even have room for a full size ten key. Kinda weighty at roughly 4.5 lbs

I do a lot of 3D (Pixar-like) character animations and animated videos. This machine does a decent job of handling the "stress" of having multiple graphic, video and 3D animation programs going at the same time. It locks up only occasionally. I do, however, often get a "black screen" where everything will disappear. However, this can be resolved by re-booting (although it is annoying.) There are better-performing options out there for this type of work. Still, for the price point, this is a good value machine as a backup.

Overall the laptop performs exactly as we would expect. The touchscreen is great and the screen resolution that originally sold us is also exactly how we expected. The couple of downsides are that the keyboard layout is a bit clunky. The right shift key is smaller than normal. The touchpad keys are also a bit hard to press. At first we thought it was just the demo unit since so many people go through the store and click the keys and whatnot, but after about a month, the touchpad keys on our laptop also became less responsive and you really had to press the keypad a bit harder for it to register. Overall though - the laptop in itself is pretty solid and we would recommend the laptop to others.

very glad I purchased this laptop, although it has all the capacity of most desktop units. graphics are great even playing intense games, and the upgrade to windows 10 was seamless. In addition the sound quality is very good and has a great depth to it that was unexpected. Picture quality is very nice and the touch screen works very well. Even though this is a 17" screen the overall weight of the unit is very light to me, perfect for carrying around the house or the outside areas. the keyboard layout is nice because you have a full numeric keyboard and space to rest your wrists on the laptop if you like. the mousepad works very well and is not in the way of keyboard at all. having a 4th gen i7 CPU is very nice along with 4 GB of video memory on the Nvidia GTX card. storage is no issue either with the two hard drives. I would be surprised if anyone found this laptop lacking .

It's been a while since I worked on a Lenova but I was not disappointed. It's fast and powerful. No complaints with the exception of the size of it. Can't really complain about that since it is a 17 inch laptop and the purpose of it was to provide a larger viewing area.

I needed a large screen, a large amount of storage, and strong processing capabilities for operating multiple programs simultaneously, and this computer has all those bases covered. It's a bit heavy, but that comes with my capacity requirements. My only reservation is that after a day or so, if I haven't re-booted, Windows 10 starts to act up, the icons don't function and then go off screen. I haven't tried to resolve it yet and, of course, it might just be Windows 10 and have nothing to do with the hardware.

Constant problems with the monitor - terrible. Days after I bought the computer, I logged on and found the screen was pink. I made sure the graphic drivers were up to date. After numerous restarts, the screen went back to normal. In the few months, the same problem has happened. It's becoming a huge pain to deal with. Sometimes things look good, then BAMM, the colors get all screwed up and no matter what I do, it stays that way. Very disappointed. Looks like I'll have to have the graphic card or monitor replaced. The computer is being used as an extra in the house, not used often and the only game being played is Diablo 3. Very disappointed.

I bought this computer for my teenage son to replace an older gaming computer that was becoming obsolete. We had a limited budget, but wanted to get the best bang for our buck. The sales person at Best Buy took to time to go through all the models of gaming computers that were available and highly recommended this model for the price range we were looking. My son love this computer. It has been able to run all the games he is interested in playing with no problems at all. I would highly recommend this to anyone looking for a good mid range gaming computer.
