I initially wanted a budget laptop, but I was thrilled when I got this laptop with all these specs for only 250 (open box+coupons.) My main purpose for this laptop is to be a desktop replacement, so the 17 inch size is great. The latest i3 processor helps me with any school related work. The RAM and hard drive are okay for beginners but I strongly suggest spending the extra $100 on a SSD and RAM. Some cons about this laptop is definitely the battery. Even thoiugh I use it as a desktop, the battery life is really short for a full charge. Having it plugged in is porabbly the best. Also, personally for me, the keyboard feels very uncomfortably towards the number pad. Overall, this laptop is great as a budget, value and entry-level laptop.

I purchased this laptop because it was inexpensive, had a Windows OS and I was looking for a large screen. I'm getting older and my eyesight is fading. I was previously using a small 10 inch Chromebook that couldn't do certain things due to the limitations of Chromebooks in general. I specifically got this for its large screen. That said it is big and heavy and if I was lugging it around then it would be an issue worthy of one star deduction. I primarily use this while sitting up in bed for email, browsing and Office thus the weight isn't an issue. That said I haven't had any problems with the laptop since purchasing it nearly 6 months ago. I upgraded the RAM myself to 16GB. That took all of 5 minutes thanks to a Youtube video and $60 for the memory sticks. Literally remove a few screws, pop out the sticks and insert the upgrades then screw down the cover again. Presto. I would recommend this to anyone that needs a sturdy laptop at home and will not be actually carrying it around all day.

I purchased this specifically to sit on a desk for the whole family to use. It works great, it doesn't lag and it does everything we need it to do - which is browse the internet and use Microsoft office apps like Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc. The screen size is a huge plus. I did upgrade the ram first thing, just to make sure that it did not lag. Overall, good quality, inexpensive product from Lenovo

Won't find a better price for this much laptop! Enough RAM, great sized screen for student, basic computer usage for work, etc.. Wish it was available in Windows 7 as Windows 10 not quite as streamlined for use. Mouse, keyboard, etc. quite responsive and weight is not too heavy for lap usage.

Outstanding laptop at a very reasonable price. This laptop is fast enough for everyday use. The screen is large so if traveling on a plane it can be cumbersome which increases it's weight, be aware. I like the dvd drive which not as many laptops have anymore. I've never dropped or banged it and have a pixel problem on the bottom left of screen, not happy about that. A light up keyboard would be nice.

I bought this computer for my 91 year old dad. We were able to set it up in minutes. He's not very computer savvy but was able to use the computer without much difficulty. The screen is nice and large for him to see. I'm considering buying it for myself.

For the $279 for which I got this laptop, I have no complaints. It has a big screen, lots of hard drive space and memory that is sufficient for normal day to day browsing needs. The laptop seems decently fast and responsive. For sure the laptop is plasticky and the track pad is not the best (especially the track button, which somehow seem out of place from where my fingers rest). But like I said, at the price I got it, I have no reason to complain. I would need to spend in the $500+ range to get a Non-plasticky laptop, but that's not for me. So for folks on an extreme budget, I would definitely recommend this laptop.

Overall the laptop is a great buy for the money. Before buying this laptop I checked online to see how much the ram could be upgraded to, because 4 gigs sure isn't a lot. I saw that it was up gradable to 8 gigs of dd3, which would be enough for the general use the laptop would get. After purchasing the laptop and the memory upgrade I got home to find that Yes the laptop is upgrade able if you are willing to Open the whole bottom including the keyboard assembly . I made a call to GeekSquad and was told they would not do the upgrade as it would / could void the warranty. I called Lenovo and was told the same thing, that opening the laptop to upgrade it could void the warranty. So be aware if you are buying this model to upgrade the ram you will have to disassemble it.

The computer was intended to be replacement of my old desktop from 2009. I was puzzled if processor frequency that is less in this laptop would support better productivity that is expected for newer computer. It did. Compare with my previous one productivity is about 5 times better. Most of my favorite applications from older computer are working at this model. Now I have two screens. One of the main reasons to buy this model was VGA output to use my display as second screen. It works. There are some concerns. During several weeks of the usage there were several issues with waking up the computer. Sometime it wakes up too long for comfort. The were a case of forgetting custom setting for screens.

So far so good only had it a short time just over a month. I use it every day for play but mainly for business. The screen is a bit blurry if you turn it just a bit off. And I ended up purchasing a separate mouse for it.. The touch pad drove me crazy it kept scrolling in and out instead of up and down.. But overall not bad for the price I paid. If I would have paid full price or anywhere near it I would have waited for a different laptop .. Take it as you will there are good things and bad.. Definitely not for gaming! But great for Business!

Shopped around for a laptop for some time. Pretty impressed with it, love the large screen, battery life could be increased but four hours is ok. Overall, pretty decent Lenovo laptop, could recommend as a starting laptop. Not sure if touch-screen is necessary for this kind of a laptop. If the keyboard was lit, that would have been a plus.

I wanted to purchase a new inexpensive laptop that didn't have too many bloated apps or software. This laptop fit the bill. It struggles with the ram that it comes with. But I upgraded the ram and currently have 12 gigs of ram. It runs really well the sound was phenomenal when I first bought it. But since windows update the sound is horrible. But I've gotten headsets so no problem. Good laptop for basic tasks and I must add watching movies is great. Picture is really good. Worth the money just upgrade your ram and you'll have a good laptop.

The 4GB memory that is expandable to 16GB, the 17.3" screen, and the 6th generation i3 processor combine to make this laptop a very powerful yet affordable computer that I highly recommend to all users except for gaming. I invested $53 to upgrade the memory from 4GB to 16GB and hence increased its power significantly. The upgrading process was so user-friendly that took me merely four minutes. After one month of using it for my academic work, I found that its reliability, lightweight, and elegant design are attributes that make it a highly recommended computer. There is one thing though that I have not adjusted to yet, the keyboard sometimes freezes and fails to type all the characters.
