The fact it has a i5 and a DVD-RW really sets it apart from other laptops that it has everything you could want. I bought this for app development and it works like a dream. A bit heavy but that is to be expected with a 17" laptop that includes a DVD-RW. The only improvement i could say if it had a SSD instead of a HDD then it would have been amazing. But then the price wouldn't been as good so trade offs

But salesclerk showed me a Lemovo open box at a very good price that I couldn't refuse. I was very hesitant since I was not familiar with this brand but have been extremely satisfied. So far it has provided everything I need!

No Bloat Ware so I could set it up the way I wanted without uninstalling a bunch of junk PROS: Easy setup , price overall operation Cons: Controls for touch pad could be a little bit closer to the front edge for ease of use, other then that none.

I was intrigued about this laptop because of it specs and size of the screen. Build quality on the cheap side. Keyboard not so great, very cheap. Screen rest not so great either, however the core i5 and 8 gb is not that bad. The other down side is that not has a hard drive not a SSD however I don't expect Lenovo to place it in this device. If you are an engineering student you should not waste your money. But if you don't care about the cheap body, keyboard and screen you may like it. I instead bought a Lenovo thinkpad yoga 14 which is a great device. Basically the price is for the power of i5 and RAM.

Microsoft updated a bunch of times and just like my other Asus laptop between some of these updates it was unstable and crashing on chrome when it opened or sometimes wouldn't open, mail wouldn't open or crash. Finally after one of the updates things started working good but you would think they would know how to update computers by now....Even have some photo editing software installed seems to handle it ok. Right now I would recommend this laptop very snappy online and everything is stable.

Posted .Thank you for choosing the Lenovo IdeaPad 300-17 laptop. With regard to the Windows automatic updates, you may want to turn off automatic updates. That way you will get an alert when there is an update. This will give you time to create a restore point on your computer before you allow the update. That way if the update conflicts with older drivers, you can revert back to the point you created before the update. Microsoft will eventually correct the driver conflicts and you can allow the update at a later date.

THE KEYBOARD IS EASY TO USE. THE BATTERY LIFE IS EXCELLENT. I LIKE BEING ABLE TO USE A PIN TO UNLOCK THE COMPUTER. VERY NICE MACHINE...BEST I EVER HAD!!

The large screen is great for streaming or watching movies and skyping with family. Also, the processor is plenty fast for any programs or games that I might run.

The mouse is fast and easy to use and I like it's shape in the palm of my hand and I fell secure having the webroot security anywhere subscription that was included with purchase.
