This machine will not stay connected to the net. I have tried everything. It is going back first chance I get. It's a defective unit , Bottom line. It's not the manufactures or Best Buys fault it does not work, unless some one dropped it. It's no big deal I will just trade it in for another one . hope my next review is a happy one.

Horrible. This is the worst computer I've ever owned. There are serious problems with it's performance, and neither Lenova nor Best Buy will help. I ended up boxing this computer back up. Really leaves a bad taste in my mouth about Best Buy.

This company Lenovo is a scam, after using the computer the first day they locked up the computer and have told me I have to pay $299 for them to turn it back on. I will be returning this back to Best Buy.

You might want to try a system restore back to a restore date prior to the start of the problem, if you have one, or restore to factory default settings. You will need to reinstall any software you added as this will delete all programs (not files) except the original operating system.

Great Price - Poor Product

We purchased this computer in July 2016 for mother-in-law who would use it to check email, Facebook and occasionally surf the web. She complained about the speed, but we felt it was her internet provider and not the computer. In October 2016 she said she powered the computer off and now it won't power back on. I have spoken to a representative from Lenovo twice now with no real help - the usual troubleshooting which I had already done prior to calling them. Yes, the product is still under warranty and I can send it in to them (at my expense), but think after speaking with a tech from the Geek Squad at Best Buy, I will try my luck with them first. From the reviews I am seeing now, it appears there is a similar theme with this particular machine and the fan and/or power failure. I guess you get what you pay for?!

Thank you for choosing the Lenovo IdeaCentre 300s desktop. With regard to the issue you mention with your system not powering up, did you make a recovery file (either disks or a flash drive). There is a boot from disk feature within the recovery files. You can boot the system and look for driver repair files at the link below. If you don't have recovery disks, try to power up the system and hit the F2 key repeatedly. See if this will boot to the BIOS for you. If it does, boot in safe mode and try to make driver repairs. Follow the link below to look for new driver updates for your specific system. You can also run diagnostics from the Lenovo site as well. As always, be sure to create a restore point on your system before you make any changes. I was very sceptical about purchasing this computer after reading some on the reviews, but have very satisfied with its performance thus far. I primerily use my desktop for Word, Excel and Microsoft Money functions, to read/send emails, search the Internet and manage photos. It has been more than adequate to meet these and other needs.

Very Slow! CPU fan failed...still slow

Glad to see the truth is coming out via other reviews about the slowness of this computer. I bought this computer 6 months ago. It is indeed a VERY slow computer. I only do basic web browsing, email, YouTube. Nothing intensive. It takes close to 30sec-60sec for a webpage to fully load, along with freezing up many many times during the process. To make matters worse, within 3 months it died- it would not turn on. Apparently the CPU fan failed. I called Lenovo about the warranty and Lenovo said a technician would come to replace the part once it arrived in 2 weeks. Well....2 weeks later...no part arrived. I had to call Lenovo once again because I never heard anything and they now added that another part has to be ordered. I said ok. Another 2 weeks passed by. No word yet. I called Lenovo a third time, and Lenovo said they would just replace the computer. That eventually happened 2-3 weeks after I was told about it. In total it was at least a month till I got it replaced. The replacement is still slow. Freezes up..can't even handle 3 tabs on internet browsers. Sometimes I have to use the computers at the PUBLIC LIBRARY because they do not freeze up nor are slow like this one.
Seriously folks, save yourself the money. I would never recommend this computer to anyone.

Very slow - Needs more RAM!

Bought this, at Best Buy's recommendation, for a person who wanted an economical means for managing some Word files, viewing Pictures and surfing the internet. Found that the 4 GB of RAM is really insufficient for a computer running Windows 10. I'll be purchasing a RAM upgrade to install. With one memory slot we will trash the 4GB RAM that is installed and install an 8 GB memory card - about a $40 upgrade.
When we unboxed and first turned on the system, there was almost no response when selecting icons until Windows retrieved and installed its latest updates. After the system settled down, Task Manager advised that we only had 1.9 GB of available RAM with the system idle. (Windows apparently uses 2.1 GB RAM in its standby mode). Opening a Web Browser or looking at File Manager began peaking the RAM in use to 90% to 100%.
Lenovo is generally a good product. But this system is indeed the bottom of the line - and at a good price. If you are looking for a low-end economical computer, go with something with 8 GB RAM (my recommendation) or consider a system with a at least 6 GB RAM. If you see a product at a good price, consider whether you can upgrade the RAM economically before your purchase.
It would be nice to get some feedback from Lenovo on this one. Why are they building computers with Windows 10 and only 4 GB RAM?

Thank you for choosing the Lenovo IdeaCentre 300s desktop. This system is one of our best sellers. It is an entry-Level system at a very economical price, which is appealing to many of our customers. Windows 10 requires less than 1.8Ghz of RAM to operate. For basic Microsoft Office projects, browsing the internet and social media, this system has served our customers extremely well, hence the 3.9 rating for the system, configured as it is.

Bought the computer despite bad reviews because the price was so great.
Started using it July 1, 2016. Fan error on 9/21/2016. Won't turn on as of 9/23/2016. Useless computer. And all the info I have on there is gone. Don't be suckered in by price. Spend more for a better computer that will actually work more than 2 and a half months.

Thank you for choosing the Lenovo IdeaCentre 300s desktop. Even though your system will not turn on, your hard drive and the information on it may be recoverable. We recommend you take your system in to the Geek Squad for an assessment and recovery of your data to an external hard drive.

I Bought this computer on 03-02-2017, because of Price and specifications, long time don't have a desktop computer, I decide to buy it just for basic things, like E-Mails and Web, but this Computer is so "SLOW" that even My first computer a ("Gateway" XP )was much faster than this thing , I even upgraded my Internet to 100/100mbps but still SLOW like nothing has changed. I Will return this thing Today 03-25-2017.

Like some of the other reviewers, I was sucked in by the price. We bought the unit in May for my mom, who is a very light computer user. After 4 months, it wouldn't cut on. Prior to that, my mother complained that it moved slow.
After almost 3 weeks of being in their repair center, they said it can't be fixed. I will not be buying this brand in the future. Very disappointed.

Purchased in April. Not running in July. I got it to replace my older computer. I only use it to use on the Web. It was slower then my old one and finally would not even turn on after only 3 months. Called Lenovo for warrenty service, They emailed me that they needed parts to repair it. They dropped the ball and never emailed or called me. in the mean time I purchased a new Dell which was super fast in comparison. I call them on 8/11/16 and was told they still do not have parts and do not know when they would come in. Awaiting call from a case worker to rectify the situation. Do not buy this computer!!

I purchased this desktop replacement for my mom who is 81 years old and lives in another state. She uses the computer to read emails and read articles online. I also paid for Geek Squad ($99) to set this computer up. Purchased on 8/11, installed a week later and on 10/31 the computer just stopped working. The on button wouldn't light up when my mom tried to turn it on. I called Geek Squad and a lovely lady set up an appointment for Geek Squad to check it out since my mom couldn't carry it to the car and take it to BBY. The polite Geek Squad member came by today and verified that the fan was dead and the computer was probably defective... and mom would have to take it to BBY for a replacement. Arggghhh. I am trying to get a neighbor to take it back to BBY for my mom. What a hassle. And then I'm going to have to get Geek Squad to come back out (another $99) to set this computer up for her. So this $229 product could at the end cost me 429$. I am hoping BBY will do the right thing and offer to replace the defective computer and set it up for free. We'll see.
