Best chromebook for $150.

Fanless design will not overheat the laptop when put under the sheets in my bed. Only thing that's not good is the wifi connection will cut off and on again every 5 minutes or so when using the 5.0Ghz band. Wifi goes back to normal when using the 2.4GHz band.

Very High quality Laptop

The touchpad works but it feels a little cheap (button press vibrates through laptop). Compared to other Chromebooks, this is a fantastic value at ~$150. Plenty of memory and good battery life. Chrome set-up for kids account was a little glitchy, but I finally got through it. Chrome set-up for my account was easy. I was hesitant because Chromebooks had a reputation of lack of software, but I have been very impressed. Almost everything I need is available. Ability to run Android Apps is a huge plus. For an Office package suggest either Google Docs/Sheets (if you don't mind Google keeping a copy of all your data), or Free_Office_2021 (available in Android App Store). Both work very well, but the latter works locally without uploading data to Google.

This Chromebook 3 14 uses Google Docs for office type programs. Google Docs is completely compatible with Microsoft Office Programs and this is a free service through the Google Server. If you must have the actual Microsoft Office Programs, you can purchase Microsoft Office 365 for this Chromebook at the Google Play Store.

Decent display. Good webcam. Light to carry. This will not disappoint your kid and will not break the bank.
