    An Overall Good Laptop

    Posted .

I finally decided to upgrade from my old Dell XPS m1530 (7 years old as of this review). Overall, I'm pretty impressed by this laptop as it seems to hit all the important areas. - Design doesn't try to do too much, but doesn't look boring either. I like the look better than HP's and Dell's. - Keyboard is very solid which is surprising for a budget laptop - Sound is pretty decent (front-side speakers underneath the laptop - Speed of the Core i3 Processor is sufficient for multitasking needs - Drive & RAM are upgrade-able which allows this laptop to be future proof The screen was slightly washed out on the standard setting, but I was able to do some minor calibrations in the color setting in order to get it just the way I wanted. I think 1600x900 resolution is perfect for this laptop. It's great for multitasking and it doesn't burn as much battery life as a 1920x1080 screen. Movies and TV shows still look very sharp. Text is adequately sharp as well. I upgraded to 16gb of ram which seems to help with loading up applications a lot. Windows Superfetch is fast enough to the point that I don't feel a serious urge to upgrade to an Solid State Drive just yet despite the fact that my previous computer did have one.

I bought this computer to get me through an online college degree program... that was years ago now, and I'm typing this review on the same machine. Some might say it's old and slow... but isn't reliability more important? Never had an issue with this computer... probably the best money I've ever spent on tech.

    Pleasant Surprise

I got this laptop as a bundle with the Xbox one and $50 gift certificate. To my surprise this is a wonderful laptop for what i wanted to use it for. Screen is big, keyboard is soft and the speed is wonderful. The only down side for me is the port to connect Ethernet cable. I was traveling and in my hotel i tried to connect with the cable rather than wireless and it was excruciating trying to unplug the cable from the computer. They need to redesign it because it is hard to remove due to a hook underneath where the cable goes into the computer. Overall it was a good purchase for me. I wanted a laptop to surf the web, play videos and so on. I didn't need anything powerful because i already have a desktop for that.

I bought this laptop a couple months ago and this is what I have to say about it to this point. I was looking for a laptop that would be able to run my music recording programs and multiple browser tabs at once. I wanted something with a large screen because I need to be able to see a lot at once while I'm working on my music, but I didn't want a desktop because sometimes my equipment needs to travel with me. At first, the sound from the speakers sounded off and slightly muffled. I figured it was because the speakers were on the bottom of the laptop, but the problem didn't go away even when I connected it to speakers or headphones. I fixed the problem after messing with the settings for about half an hour and I finally found out that it was some sort of app that came with the computer that allowed you to put the speakers in movie or music mode. I turned it off completely and no longer had an issue with the sound coming out terrible. The key board takes some getting used to, as it seems you have to press extra hard on the keys, but it becomes less of a problem the more they get used. The only real problem I have with this computer so far is the mousepad. The texture of it doesn't feel right and it seems somewhat unresponsive when sliding your finger(s) across. All in all, this laptop is a great purchase if you are on a budget! I highly recommend it, you won't be disappointed.

    A Decent Laptop

Love the big screen. Decent speed, can easily swap out the hard drive to an ssd and increase the ram to make it even better. For the price tag i paid for, i have no complain. The only gripe i have is the resolution of the screen. I wish it's 1080p.

Took Care of My Space Problem

    |
    Posted .

I had a full blown work station on my home desk. The problem was all that gear took up WAY TOO MUCH space. I had seen other people using large laptops as desktop substitutes. I found this Lenovo G70-80 open box at a nearby Bestbuy. It has all the credentials I was looking for. No, I did not need a gaming laptop. I just wanted something with decent general performance. The Lenovo G70-80 has it - a big hard drive, plenty of onboard RAM, and a fine processor. The speed and performance of the G70-80 is what I need it to be. The only thing lacking in it is a great sound card. The onboard one doesn't distort or make any other unmusical noises, but the audio is rather bland. I'm using an outboard USB sound DAC in place of it and that makes a HUGE improvement in sound. Aside from the bland audio, the G70-80 is very good.

best laptop out of other brands

    Posted .

I had hp and asus with the same specs before i bought this one and lenovo is the best of them all and a better price, its build realy good not flemzy like asus and the sound is really good and loud unlike hp, and doesnt over heat or the fan doesnt sound like a vacuum like hp does, this is a really fast computer, i had hp with i5 intel and this one is alot faster and you can easly upgrade the hard drive and memory with out taking the hole computer apart like asus and hp just 2 screws on the bottom plate is all, and it starts up alot faster than my asus did and has better tech support and updates are easy on this laptop than the other brands. plus this laptop has bluetooth build in and comes with Cyberlink PowerDVD, CyberLink Power2Go and more software than the other brands, the hp and asus didnt have bluetooth and it would cost you 40 or 50 dollars more to get that on hp and asus they dont have no cd burning software or dvd player software, this is a really good price on this lenovo why pay more and get less on other brands

    Great Best Buy Service.

Bought this for my mom who is over 90 and has trouble seeing. Laptop loaded up with no trouble and it was easy to transfer her information into the new computer. She had been using a chromebook and wanted it for email and keeping up with her family on facebook. Unfortunately, it did not work for her. It was a little large for using in her chair and she could not handle Windows 10. We returned it to a different Best Buy location and they took it back with no problems. We ended up getting her a 24 inch tv to use as a monitor at a desk downstairs. For someone wanting an easy to set up laptop at a good price, this was a good choice. For my 90 year old mom, it didn't work out.

    Worth the money...

I bought this for my Dad, he's 82 and needed a replacement for the old laptop he'd been using. This is only the 2nd pc he has ever owned. The laptop itself is fine: plenty fast, plenty of RAM and more than enough HHD for him to store anything he wants. Being that he's used to Windows Vista he's having a tough time getting used to Windows 10 (not my favorite OS either) the system itself is decent enough but I have problems with all the nifty little programs that have been eliminated and are now either bought online or aftermarket when they should still be free with the OS though that is not the G70s fault

I bought this for my mom to replace her old laptop and I can honestly say it's worth the money. It is very plasticky but the LCD is clear and bright, the sound is loud, and the keyboard is good with a nice feedback. I opened it up to upgrade the ram and harddrive and I was surprised to find that the components were of better quality than most low-budget computers.

Overall I'm happy with my purchase. I was amazed how incredibly easy it was to set up..I did not want Windows 10...I wanted Windows 7 but it's not offered anymore. Gotta admit...I'm loving it so far. I really like the big display..only issue I've had, and I have adjusted the brightness is..after an extended period on the computer, my eyes tend to get really tired. Im not sure whats causing this...but the display just seems "off" a little...and I can't pinpoint what it is. Other than that...very happy with this purchase.

    great desk top replacement

It's been 2 plus years since I bought this to replace the desk top and have had no problems with it. Don't use Win 10 the way it's meant to be, that is do some real work on it, but it gets me on line. Added more ram, 8GB now and added a SSD. Don't really do a complete shut down when I'm through using it, but it is less than 15 seconds to the desk top on start up.

My only complaint is that no one supplies adequate operational info for computer products and dealing with "help" links are a joke. Either you can't understand what your helper is saying or you don't get much of an explanation for what you just purchased. You have to learn everything the hard way. There are no How to books on how to use the features and advice on the "does and "don's to protect your investment.

This laptop was part of a bundle I bought with my Xbox One. It suits my needs as a simple laptop that is large enough for my older family members to use due to the large screen. It is fast enough to run everything besides games with heavy graphics. Great purchase.
