Was looking for a no frills laptop while on trip (left my powerhowse Lenovo far away at home) and checking the 300-400 US dollars offerings I settled on the Lenovo ideapad 500 with an AMD A10 processor. It does what I need on the road quite swiftly ONCE all the latest updates to Windows 10 are installed. Connected through a hotel WiFi network it took me about 3 hours to have all MS updates installed and the laptop configured as I needed, which implies removing a lot of the bundled stuff these come with and installing essentials like Notepd++, Paint.NET, FileZilla and of course Firefox. After that my work on the road has been a boon, quite pleased with the performance of the ideaplus. On the cons side I would list the keyboard, it's a bit mushy but all things accounted for it is pretty much what is available on laptops on this price range. What drew me into this computer was the 8G ram and 1T hard drive, the display clarity and size were also big pluses there. Have not used it extensively on battery power but the few times I have the battery life has been satisfactory - have kept it unplugged from AC for about two hours and kept above 50% left over before plugging in the charger. So it is not a MacBook nor the high end Lenovos, but it will get the job done at a price and performance that's hard to beat.

Although I am satisfied with my purchase, I would like to point out a major bug in which Windows 10 and is seen with the built in McAfee antivirus. I did a basic scan as per a normal routine after I had opened up my laptop from pure basics, and had noticed that a lot of Windows 10 system is viewed as viruses or points of vulnerability, based on the McAfee antivirus protections.

Purchased as a open box item so got a little better deal. Works as inteded. A little slow but no real problems.

Lenovo Laptop is for the beginner to advanced users. Like to Screen Size and size of keys on keyboard.

This computer is fast with plenty of memory and is very easy to use. the screen and graphics are top-notch. Great battery life, lightweight and easy to take on the road. it is an excellent computer for personal use. A very good value for the money. As always, the Best Buy sales agents and Geek Squad were very professional and helpful.

My son wanted a large laptop for Christmas and of all of the models in our price range this one has the fastest processor, most RAM, and largest screen. He wasn't crazy about the feel of the track pad or the fact that it does not have an online security software plan, but we added a McAffee plan and Microsoft Office, and he loves it.

It works well for me. It has a lot of space which was something I was really concerned about.

The computer has what I need. Easy to use and navigate.

I have always had good luck with Lenovo and this laptop has some great features, but Windows 10 is such a hog...it wants to do everything for you! Which slows everything down. For the specs...if this was running XP, it would be a server....with Windows 10, just average...BUT good price and lots of features...just NOT a gaming PC.

I was looking to purchase a laptop for my high school freshman. I really like everything about this computer except the battery life is VERY short. When fully charged, you are only able to get a little over an hours worth of battery life. I will be calling to see if there is anything I can do about this.

The computer is a nice size to be able to see. Windows 10 is nice also.

Bought the Lanovo Ideapad 500 to replace my classroom (instructor) laptop. Filled in great; will be using it "on-the-road" the month of March. Expect it will continue to perform well at the various locations. I consider this a great value based on its capabilities and the costs.

IdeaPad is simple and ease. This product has great value for money.

I don't use a laptop all that often, so I didn't want to spend a fortune. This one does everything I need it to do, and it does it well. It's perfect for web browsing, Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, etc...), and streaming Netflix. The 1080p anti-glare screen is actually quite crisp, although the colors could be a bit better. With 8GB of RAM it doesn't bog down too much, and with a 1TB hard drive it has plenty of room for pictures, videos, files, etc... It's fairly light, it doesn't get too hot, and the battery usually lasts a couple of hours during use. It's definitely not suitable for gaming, but if you're looking for something that you could use for school or office work it seems to work just fine!

Everything on this laptop is good, the specs are great, the weight is good, feels solid. That said, the battery life is a joke. On heavy use, not plugged in, I'm getting roughly 30-40 minutes of use before it's dead. If not for the battery issue, it would be rated much higher.
