I really enjoy having this laptop! It's great with all of the work that I have to do as a student and even better when I just want to surf the web or watch shows. The apps that are offered are really accessible and easy to maneuver through. I love that I have the best of both worlds, the keyboard and the touch screen. I can do everything on the laptop using just the touch screen the same as using the keyboard/mouse. Hard to believe that this is refurbished because it honestly works just like a new one! The price is definitely awesome because you're paying a minimal amount for a maximum laptop! :) There's nothing that I don't like about the laptop, other than the touch screen can get messy with the fingerprint swipes, but that's easy to just clean with a cloth.

This laptop was purchased for my son, so I'm forwarding from him. He loves it. He wasn't sure he would with Windows 8, but it being a touch screen, it works. It has a lot of memory and storage for a fraction of the price, since it was refurbished and he says that it runs perfectly fine, no problems. It is very slim and easy to carry, also.

This seemed like a good deal, but the Wi-Fi antenna was bad. Showed weak signal and dropped connections often. Could not even get through the setup process. Returned and got a new HP which worked perfectly out of the box. Design seemed good, but clearly Lenovo did not refurbish the unit to working condition.

Lenovo has done it. This laptop offers a lot for the money. It's refurbished by manufactures specs. That and the price takes the concern away. I would recommend this laptop to anyone.

Lenovo popup ads very annoying & Lenovo's fix was to complex. After downloading Windows 8.1 I couldn't connect my wireless printer. When I transferred my Office Word files, I was not able to open then, the error message indicated "no such path". Even though I am "above average" in Computer operations, the overall frustration was to great.

This 15" version was selling at a very good price, so I grabbed it. I've been using it a few hours each day during the first week, so I'm accustomed to Win 8 now.
The good:
Backlit screen that you can turn on or off.
Touchscreen that's very responsive.
Solid construction.
Win 8 OS that does what it's supposed to do with no snags or crashes.
DVD/CD drive! #don't are what they say, but many of us still need/want that dvd/cd drive on our laptops#
The bad:
Cannot install Win 8.1. Contacted Lenovo and was informed that some of their products -such as P500- are not ready for Win 8.1 because of possible driver incompatibilities. I probably would not have purchased this had I known in advance. Nor would I had wasted 5 hours trying to attempt to install Win 8.1. Google search and you'll find that many Win 8.0 computers are having problems with downloading or installing Win 8.1. Because of this blunder on part of Microsoft and Lenovo -to be fair there are other brand names that are having the same problem- I cannot recommend this laptop until MS and Lenovo fix this.
Otherwise, I'm happy with its performance.

I was really excited about this computer. It had everything I wanted except the high resolution screen, but I figured I could deal without that... especially for the great price. However, when the computer arrived, the back lit keys did not light up. Also the colors in the screen are not vibrant AT ALL. Very pale. I took it back to Best Buy and they gave me a refund.

This was the second Lenovo refurbished laptop that I rordered. The first machine had a poor wireless card. The wireless connection did not work unless you were sitting next to the router. Second machine worked great for about 3 days, then the screen went dark, and you could not see the display unless the room was totally dark. I gave up on buying a refurbished machine (great price thought) and bought a new ASUS laptop that had better review.

Great machine, lacks warranty, not for newbies

This would have received 5 stars if Lenovo offered ANY warranty on this refurbished machine.
The Outstanding - The Win 8 touch screen is easier for my adult son with Cerebral palsy and a significant shake. This is the first computer he can use. Thank you MS for the touch sceens!
The Bad -
-Lenovo offers NO warranty on refurbs. This may be a deal-killer for you. It seems silly - Lenovo makes a fine product, brings it back to factory specs, then drop the customer into a swamp.
- Definitely NOT for beginners. Because of no warranty, you should obtain and use CPU, memory, and hard drive test suites before the 15 days return limit.
-Win 8 FORCES you to use only their sites and is very, very LOCKED DOWN. Again, his is NOT a machine for newbies. It needs much effort to get around Win8 and install your non-MS applications. I also installed a Win7 emulator to get to FOLDERS and access the flippin' Control Panel. Win 8 offers no easy way to get to any folders!
- There is the usual amount of bloatware, easy to uninstall. IF you can find the Programs and Features in the Settings (This is a good first test to navigate Win 8)
The good -
- This is an incredible value for hardware performance and features. I got it for development work in Visual Studio, SQL Server, and a web dev stack.
- The whole thing feels like quality.
- The metal case feels very solid, the keys feel great with lovely backlighting.
- The best thing about Win8 is the touch screen, it makes many operations much, much easier.
- Lenovo ships with an almost-Win-7 desktop, which is a *lifesaver* while you are getting used to Win 8.
Summary - The Lenovo P or V series is great if you want a performance laptop (not gamer) that is also physically solid, . If you just want the touch screen convenience of Win 8, save your money and get a much less capable machine with touch capability. WIN 8 IS NOT FOR REAL WORK beyond browsing, email, and word processing.
Thanks again to MS for enabling touch technology. It opens the whole online world for my son! Next is to add Dragon Naturally Speaking for his use.

Had it for month and a half and the laptop screen completely stopped working! it had never worked right from the get go..some other things, like keyboard shortcuts, responded slowly for a i5 processor...like unusually slow at times...Companies service...terrible. had to call to check on it while getting repaired after a week had past (max. stay time was supposed to be 7 days) told us they couldn't get a part until two months later! (jan. 24, 2014)so frustrated with company.

I researched buying a new laptop for about 2 weeks and really did my homework, before finally purchasing this one. I am extremely satisfied and would recommend this laptop to anyone in the market if you are looking for getting the most bang for your buck. It looks great and is extremely high quality in the way that it is made. It has a huge hard drive (1 TB) and a great processor in the Intel I-5 3230. It took me a few days to get used to Windows 8 but really like it now that I am used to it.

I loved this for the first week I had it. Then exactly one week after I got it, the screen went very dim and could barely see icons. Called Geek Squad, after some checks they said I had to send it in and would be without a laptop of at least 2 weeks. Pretty disappointed

I received this laptop as a Christmas present. Worked great and as advertised for 11 1/2 months. Died on December 22 but since it had been purchased earlier in December, warranty was refused. The mother board just died and I understand this is a common problem with this model. There are even individuals advertising on-line to fix it for a flat charge. Family should have researched more before buying.

I got this laptop for my birthday about 6 months ago, and I just love it. Windows 8 takes a bit to get used to, but like everything else, it's a breeze when you get the hang of it. I think for the money, this is by far the "best buy". The only drawbacks are that the keyboard can have a slow reaction time to a fast typist, and the camera is just okay. I had to contact Lenovo once when I first got it about a problem I was having navigating, and the online rep. was extremely courteous and helpful!! 5 stars!

I've had to call lenovo several times about hardware issues. Currently I'm in the process of sending it in and getting the keyboard replaced.
