I traded in my mac for this computer and it has been nothing short of amazing. The screen is incredibly high resolution and it is so fast. On quiet mode you barely hear the fans, if at all. I use this PC mostly for school work and CAD. It has been great

Worth The Price

Laptop runs high performance games such as Marvel Rivals and Monster hunter Wilds with ease. Easily pushing over 200 FPS and not having any issues with performance. Absolutely worth the price and would recommend to someone looking for a new starter gaming laptop.

Great Machine but poor battery life

It's a great machine, but it's battery life is pretty poor. I am running Ubuntu on it and messed with about every power setting I could think of and I am still always having to worry about my computer dying. It's not really ideal for a college laptop just because of that.

While we are glad to hear that the Legion Pro 5 is a great machine for you, we are also disappointed to hear that you experienced poor battery life. We aim to offer great user experience and would like to recommend a few actions you can take to improve battery life.
If you have not done so already, we suggest having Windows available as a bootable OS as these following steps will not be available on Ubuntu.
Firstly, the Legion Pro 5 allows you to change the computer’s thermal mode. This will allow your device to cycle between higher performance, quiet, or automatically adjust based on your needs. To start, launch the Lenovo Space app, Under the CPU and GPU Performance gauges you will find the option to toggle performance profiles. We suggest using Quiet mode which will lower the temperature and enhance battery life of your Legion Pro 5. You can also toggle thermal modes simply with the Fn+Q hotkey.
The Legion Pro 5includes the option of controlling the “GPU Working Mode”. You can find this within Legion Space, just below the Thermal Profile modes from the previous step. This allows your device to switch between the integrated GPU and discrete GPU. By switching modes, you can enhance battery life through the Hybrid-iGPU Only Mode which will lower the power draw of the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5060 graphics card or enhance performance with dGPU Mode which will enhance display performance.

So far the laptop has far exceeded my expectations. It runs smoothly and efficiently and the colored keyboard is a very nice touch. So far I haven't had any problems with the laptop and it is good for Baldur's Gate 3 at max performance!

Regarding your issue with battery – as you may know there are lots of variables that contribute to battery and in gaming laptops that can increase even more due to their high-powered processors and graphics cards. If you want to squeeze out more battery life and are completing non-intensive graphics tasks, you can utilize the MUX switch built into this model to turn off the dedicated GPU to greatly decrease power draw. This can be done in the Lenovo Vantage app > top right box > GPU working mode, then choosing your preferred method. Users can also take advantage of the keyboard shortcut, Fn + Q to toggle thermal modes and easily switch between prioritizing battery life or power, or even the best of both words, along with custom settings configurable in Lenovo Vantage. You could also press the Fn + R key combo to toggle to a lower refresh rate for even more power conservation.

The laptop itself is good, but not really recommended for Linux users who are not familiar with the system. I spent quite some time configuring bluetooth settings and HDMI connection for this laptop.

Overall really good. No performance issues on games like Minecraft but lately been having some ridiculous fps drops with 2k26. Not sure if it's something I've done myself or not, just thought it should be known.

Great laptop! The only thing that’s an issue since it’s mainly a human problem is the smudges left on the laptop. It’s due to the normal oils accumulated on your hands that leaves smudge marks on there. Constant cleaning with the microfiber being damp will help clean it up.
