    Terminal Failure

I had my Toshiba stolen out of my car on Monday night. Needed a quick business replacement; after doing some research I came across the new SL410. Great value for what you get considering the completion. I work for an educational institution and even the agreement we have with the supplier we were not able to get this good of a deal. I purchased the computer on Thursday night and spent the weekend setting it up and loading all of my programs and documents. Packed it up and went off to work Monday morning put the laptop on my desk and started it up only to encounter the blue screen of death! Called tech support, with the warrantee that comes with the computer the only thing they could do is have me send it to them with a turnaround time of 5-9 days. Their recommendation was to take it back to Best buy and get a new one. So back to Best buy, they were great in taking the machine back and issuing me a refund to get another machine. I decided to drive 20 miles to another Best buy to get another one. Thus far I have not had any issues with this new one but did lose a lot of time and received little to no service from Lenovo. They did not care about my issues and that the notebook was a new release from Best buy nor did they care that I was out now 4 days of work. I was lucky that Best buy was able to exchange the machine for me otherwise I would have been two weeks in the whole… If you get the SL410 make sure you call and upgrade the warrantee where they come to you if you have any issues. The value is there but the back end cost of the warrantee and service makes this not as sweet a deal as originally thought.

    Horrific backup capability!

I bought this after both hard drives on my Macbook died. I saw it and heard good things about the brand. I bought it and took it home. The first thing I tried to do was make the restore discs by using the recovery partition. Naturally, the computer froze. After restarting, the recovery partition disappeared. I called Lenovo and was informed that the recovery partition is a one-and-done proposition. If it doesn't work the first time, you're out of luck. That makes absolutely no sense! I'm taking it back to Best Buy tomorrow night. I don't trust a computer that deletes its own backup partitions.

The system goes on to provide one of the best configurations of the current time at perhaps the most competitve pioce. However, the 14" screen might be one of the catches that may make you to think against buying it initially, though it did not hurt me much. After a couple of months of usage, it is working fine for me, except that its wi-fi sometimes fails to catch pretty good signals and gets disconnected time and again. Apart form that the machine has been performing well, working at a decent pace at the time with 4GB memory in place and 2MB L2 cache.

This computer is a great buy, it is very fast and can do everything i want it to. It was easy to set up and have it auto back up to a hard drive over the network. This is one of the most well put together computers i have used. It feels solid and not cheap. There are different settings for the computer and when its in energy saving mode it does run a little slow trying to accomplish basic tasks. I would assume this is the case with every computer that is running in an energy saving mode. The battery lasts about 4.5 hours, and the computer is light durable and easy to transport.

I bought the laptop to use with online school and absolutely love it. It is fast and easy to use. I also plan to use it for working from home once done with school, which is one of the reasons I purchased it. I have not had the opportunity to use the business ascpect of it yet, but am sure I will enjoy using it, too. Thank you for making a great product!

    Unreliable Computer

I use this computer primarily for internet, iTunes, and Office applications. It actually works fantastically, until you press the power button. The boot time is a good three minutes slower to boot than my desktop (I know it's an unfair comparison, but three minutes??). Opening non-intensive applications (i.e. Microsoft Word) takes WAY too long. Even moving the cursor across the screen takes much too much time. Gaming? I know this isn't a gaming computer, but the most intensive thing along those lines it'll run is Farmville, which it runs terribly. I have perfectly fast wiFi, but the computer's speed sloooooows it down a significant amount. In summary, this computer is simply too slow, and, with a 27 minute battery life, too slow to recommend.

    Very Pleased With The Lenovo

Very pleased! Price is great. Love the fact that it will expand to hold 8 GIGS of RAM memory. Don't know what the small red plastic in the middle of the keyboard is for. I tried to remove it, it doesn't come out. Guess its there for a reason, what that is I have no clue. This is the only thing I don't really care for, otherwise, this is a great buy!

This is a solid laptop. I have had this laptop for about a month now and it has worked perfectly. It is fast and comes with what you need and not with what you don't. Easy to set up and get going. I upgraded because I wanted to have a wireless N notebook. This one works great. Great video, features, price and aswome performance.

Didnt buy because of Textured Touch Pad- OUCH!

I have always owned a Think pad Laptop. I am on my 3rd and had my eye on this one and went into Best buy to purchase. It has a textured touch pad which really was uncomfortable and I felt that my fingers after 10 hours of work would hurt! Lenovo what where you thinking with this touch pad design ???

It is good for me to use. But it is easily to broken. I used it for only 10 days, and it fell down from desk, and I can not believe it is broken. Never buy it again.

Unfortunately, the hard drive failed less than a month after purchase. I had been hoping have a well-engineered machine by buying Lenovo, but now I'm concerned that they've sacrificed their standards to hit a lower price point. I have had good experience with the T-series laptops, but wasn't looking to spend tha much this time around. To Best Buy's credit, they refunded the price of the laptop without much hassle.
