Bought Lenovo yoga 730 in may 2018, the screen started flickering after 5 months off and on, finally took to best buy they repaired it, but started flickering again. Since it has passed 1 year called lenovo CS, they said they were not ready to take care, but after long discussion and many calls finally they agreed to send shipping label, but never recieved one. Its one of the worst laptops ever, lenovo's product quality has gone so bad and so is the CS. I have U430 before, never once had a problem, not going to buy lenovo products again.

A few days after purchase the screen started flickering fingerprint scanner never works and it seems a lot of yoga 730 owners have had the same issue. I am now dealing with Lenovo and sending it in to get factory warranty work. I’m a college student and 2 weeks without my laptop will be torture.

It's a good laptop and honestly my experience with it wasn't that bad. If reliability of this thing was bulletproof and I didn't have to deal with lenovo customer service for repairs, I would easily recommend it. I love taking notes on this thing especially paired with the lenovo pen pro. I'm however going to have to replace this laptop because it isn't even a year into it's life cycle, but it's already experience major screen flickering problems. This wasn't something I was aware of while reading and watching reviews but its a problem that plagues many yoga line laptops because of the poor routing of the display cable. A simple search for lenovo yoga screen flicker will reveal countless other people with the same problem and countless other people getting absolutely no support or any proper responses from lenovo regarding the problem. This is my first lenovo laptop and it will be my last until they fix the poor build quality or actually honor their warranties regarding manufacturer defects.

I read some of the reviews before buying this about the screen flickering issue and thought that there would be no way I'd get one of the laptops with that issue. I've had the laptop about two months and have been plagued for the last month with the flicker. It has gotten to the point where the screen becomes unusable when it is having one of its flickering episodes. I took it into GeekSquad last week to get everything updated and had high hopes that it would come out fixed. This was in alignment with the recommendations Lenovo has made in response to other reviews on the flickering issue. Last night as I was sitting down to do some homework, the flicker reared its ugly head again (one day after picking it back up from GeekSquad). The way I get it to go away is by moving the lid or slightly tapping the side of the machine (makes me think it is hardware related). I can almost guarantee that the response from Lenovo will be that I need to update drivers (that's why I went to GeekSquad) or that I need to reach out to technical support, which will in turn require me to send the machine to a service center (I chatted with them briefly a month ago, and that's what they wanted me to do). The problem is that I am in school and need a machine to do school work. I can't go without a machine while I'm waiting for it to be repaired. I hate writing a negative review because I really like the look and feel of the laptop. It is the perfect size and really was what I was looking for. That being said, I don't feel that it is unfair to expect a laptop to be dependable and usable two months after purchase. From what I'm seeing in other reviews, a number of people aren't having this issue, so maybe I just got one of the lemons. Feel free to roll the dice...

I purchased for this my daughter who is a freshman in college. The computer was purchased on 8/3 and on 8/22 she called to say the screen is flickering. She shut it down and powered it back up and it was fine. She had the same issue over the next few days. Finally, on 8/29......Friday before Labor Day weekend....it was getting to the point where it was hit or miss if it would even work. Of course the school's Tech Department was closed for the holiday. She took it to them on the 4th and they were unable to fix it and by this time the screen was just black and the computer was not usable. Today is the 11th and she is still without a computer as they are waiting for the part to fix it....they will not replace it. AND, her HUGE business project she started working on is on the computer so now she has to start over again. It's a huge stress for kids starting college to begin with all the adjustments and now to add this to the mix it has been an awful start to the school year for her. All of her books are online. All of her assignments are online. It has made it very difficult for her to get a routine in school because of this laptop fiasco. We spent a lot of money and had hoped to get 4 years out of this computer and it is not starting off so well.

We are sorry to hear that your daughter is having issues with her Yoga 730-13. This system is equipped with OneKey Recovery System. There is a very small pin hole on the left side of the device, right near the headphone jack on the device. You will need a pin to push this reset button. Plug the device in. Let the battery charge for about 15 minutes. Push the reset button. The system should boot to a choice screen where you can choose "Restore To Factory Default". Select this. It will delete everything from the hard drive except the original factory install of the operating system. You will need to reinstall all programs and files after the reset. If you don't have copies of the files, try to make one before you restore by selecting "Boot to desktop" and trying to back up your files. If the problem persists after the factory reset, we recommend you contact Lenovo Tech Support at: 877-453-6686. lenovo

I purchased Lenovo yoga 730 about a month ago in mid Aug 2018. I initially chose yoga 730 because of its value and quality (storage space, light weight and battery life) over other laptops. Well, the battery life is about 6 hours max, not even close to what they advertised in store (up to 11 hours). I called the customer service and they said 6 hrs is typical and there is nothing they could do about the battery hours. My issue with yoga 730 is not the battery life though but its reliability and durability. It literally died after 3 weeks. The screen turned to black and it just stopped functioning that I was not able to use it for a week now. I called Lenovo and they said I will need to wait few more weeks until they can get the parts. Overall, I paid $800 for a laptop that lasted 3 weeks. It is UNACCEPTABLE! It sounded like a good laptop but it is not reliable and badly made product in my experience. I regret buying Lenovo and I will never buy LENOVO again!

Wish I could even give a zero stars. I don't know whether to blame best buy or Lenovo. I first got an Asus 2 in 1 ,14 inch from best buy which just shut off and could not be switched on and this happened intermittently. I had to return it within a week of purchase. I got this one because most of my friends had the 15.1 version and I opted for 13.3 because I always prefer a portable laptop. And that was the beginning of an end. The screen flickers so bad, some of my colleagues get upset just by staring at it. It could even trigger seizures in a predisposed person! And now..I have a completely blank screen.... Nothing shows and it's been less than 2 months since I got this ..supposedly brand new laptop from best buy. Terribly disappointed!

On three different occasions I've had to send this computer back to Lenovo for repair because the screen kept going black. Customer service was terrible, but finally it seemed like they fixed the problem. However, my warranty just expired like 2 months ago and now the keyboard is messing up (random buttons don't work anymore). Apparently these are two well-known design flaws with this particular laptop--from what I've read, it seems that the cables for the screen, keyboard, etc. don't really fit into the laptop's casing, but Lenovo crams them in there anyways, crushing them in the process and causing them to short-out. First and last Lenovo product. Would give it 0 stars if I could. Really wish I hadn't wasted my money on this junk.

    Nonstop Screen Flickering

    Nonstop Screen Flickering

I usually don't write reviews for products, but the awfulness that is this laptop brought it upon me to save others from going down the same path that I did. I really wanted to love this laptop. The features are great, but I will never be buying another Lenovo product again. I purchased this laptop for school to take notes. The second day of class, the screen occasionally started to flicker. At first, I thought it was a software problem. I looked at countless forums and Lenovo help posts. I updated my drivers for my BIOS, chipset, you name it. I even changed around values in regedit. Nothing worked. Eventually, I figured out that when I applied pressure to the screen, the flickering would stop. There it was, a hardware issue. The flicker became increasingly worse to the point where if I didn't apply pressure to the screen, it would become completely black. I had enough of the flickering, so I went back to Best Buy where I bought the laptop and was luckily able to swap it out. They said that they've never seen it before and it was "probably just a one in a million factory defect." So I got the same exact laptop and was overjoyed that I was finally able to utilize all of the great features without the annoying flicker. Today, the dreaded flicker showed its ugly face once again on my brand new laptop. I have never dropped or done any harm to this laptop whatsoever. It's ridiculous that a large company like Lenovo puts out laptops with issues like this. I will be returning to Best Buy to return this piece of garbage and to buy a different brand of 2-in-1 laptop. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT.

I bought this laptop 6 months ago because I needed it for college. At first everything worked fine, I was happy with my laptop. But then the flickering happened. I can barely even use my laptop. I went to “Geek Squad” at BestBuy hoping they could AT LEAST tell me what’s wrong with the laptop but this guy, started to assume that it had viruses even when I told him what was wrong and that I didn’t have any viruses. The person who helped me was the absolute worst helper EVER. Not only did he not help but also he lied to me and my parents saying that the warranty the computer has does not cover my problem when it does. I went to office max, to get my computer checked up which ONLY TOOK A DAY when GeekSquad said it would take about 2-3 weeks. I mean, really?? And of course, there was no virus. I’ve tried several times contacting Lenovo support but they are of no help. I’ve updated everything and reboot everything. From going on the “Lenovo Vantage” to going to Lenovo’s additional updates. Many people, MANY, are having this problem. There are forums in where people don’t get their laptop back from Lenovo and when they ask they refuse to say anything. PLEASE DO NOT BUY THIS LAPTOP. I never leave any bad reviews because what’s the point but this laptop costs way too much for it to have this problem and Lenovo isn’t addressing anything.

This computer has been quite the disappointment. It was bought for my husband to take to medical school out of the country. While he was away, the y, t, backspace, and left hand shift buttons only worked intermittently, along with the volume button not working at all. The first time it happened we took the computer to Best Buy to be repaired under warranty - this was in December 2018 when he came home between semesters. It worked for approximately 7 months and then the same issues happened again. Unfortunately it is out of warranty now and I’m left with a $900 laptop that does not work like it should which keeps him from being able to listen to lectures or type his papers. This is most disappointing, since he is in another country and cannot just replace it. In summary, we have had this laptop for 16 months and it is unusable for what it was purchased for.

Screen started flicking while on an overseas extended trip and needed the laptop for travel arrangements. I thought the escape key was somehow sticking but later determined the hinge was failing on the left side. I was able to get it to stay on by wedging a piece of paper at the hinge. This eventually stopped working after I made it home. The screen will not come on at all now and the hinge has separated from the keyboard left side. Purchased in September of 2018. Will see if Dell will do anything to help at this point. My first Dell, very disappointed.

    BUYER BEWARE!! FLICKERING!!!

    BUYER BEWARE!! FLICKERING!!!

    Posted .

Ok. I NEVER write reviews because I’m usually too lazy to create an account and write the all thing, but in this case, I will make an exception. WORST computer experience I have ever had. I guess it was by mistake not paying any attention and not reading all the reviews. Flickering started just 3 days after I bought the computer. I did everything I could to fix that problem: restoring to factory settings, updating all drivers I could find, using the above-mentioned Lenovo tools – nothing worked !! instead of doing my job those days, I was obsessed to fix that problem. The flickering got so bad that in one point the computer just freeze. After 3 days I gave up. I guess that in my case I lucked out because I bought the computer at Best buy and the flickering started only 3 days upon buying, that so I could use the return policy and return that defective computer with ease. I do thank Best Buy for that. By the way, when I was returning this computer, I was told that a lot of other buyers complained about that flickering issue and returned their computers as well.. I’m not an export but I do have some experience with software engineering. Seriously doubt it is a software problem – feels like and Hardware thing. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS COMPUTER TO ANYONE!!

We are sorry to hear that you had issues with screen flicker with your Lenovo Yoga 730-13. After 18 days of owning it, it ended in service repair. I turned it in because the screen started flickering. Since it’s passed the 15 day return policy, Best Buy had to send it to their service center because it’s still under the manufacturer’s warranty. This is my first Lenovo laptop (Yoga 730 2in1 13) purchase and with my nephew’s advice that they’re great computers, I purchased one. So disappointed, come June 18th it’s going to be in service repair longer than I’ve actually owned product.

We are sorry to hear that you are having issues with screen flicker on your Lenovo Yoga 730-13. This sounds like it may be an issue with outdated BIOS and Drivers controlling the screen image. This usually occurs after a Windows 10 update. This system has Lenovo utilities installed to help maintain the health of the device and keep the operating system software up to date. Type "Lenovo Vantage" in the Cortana Search window (if Lenovo Vantage is not installed on your device, you can download the APP and install it now). Select Lenovo Vantage from the list. I purchased the Lenovo 730 on Sunday 11/11. Took it home and start installing and moving files to the new laptop. Everything seemed to be working fine until Monday 11/12 evening. I continued to work on it and the screen went black. I thought it went to sleep mode but nope... Hardset the laptop to reboot and then it was stuck in a loop with the Lenovo logo on the screen. No luck with different boot options by pressing control keys. Tried to reset the laptop by poking the small pin hole next to the head phone jack, no luck. The laptop turned on and just do nothing. Plugged into an external monitor and nothing on the screen.... What a waste of time and money. On my way to Best Nuy at 10;20am this morning and if they can get my files back, this is the last time I buy anything at Best Buy.

We are sorry to hear that you are having issues with the Windows 10 operating system on your Lenovo Yoga 730-13. Be sure any software you have installed is compatible with Windows 10. There is no need to install Microsoft Office software. The software is already part of the operating system, you just need to activate the software with a purchased product key. If you have installed a copy of Microsoft Office, this is conflicting with the existing copy on the system and this will slow your system down. If you have installed a 3rd party anti-virus program, be sure that Windows Defender is turned off and that the trial version of McAfee Anti-Virus software is uninstalled. There can only be one anti-virus program on the system. You may need to restore your system to original factory default settings if any of the programing errors have occurred. If the problem persists after the factory reset, we recommend you contact Lenovo Tech Support at: 877-453-6686. lenovo

I purchased this computer based upon the screen quality, backlit keyboard, and overall design. I found it very difficult to open. You need to stick your finger nails between the edges which are flush. I had problems getting it to start up two out of three times. After 11 days, there was no way of getting it to boot. Recharging the battery didn’t work nor did attaching the power cord. There’s no available customer service for Lenovo. I had to search the problem and follow solutions in consumer forums. After spending 5-6 hours trying to fix and refresh the screen, I finally decided to give up. The Novo button is supposed to boot up the bios menu. I followed every suggested remedy at least three times with no change. The keyboard would light up for one second and the fan would start, then it shut down. No bios menu visible but a totally black screen. Based upon the reviews that I have read, I would never buy another Lenovo. Going back to HP Spectre for my next computer. So glad this happened right away and I’m not stuck with this piece of junk!

An otherwise great laptop. After 2 months of use the screen totally stopped working. Do a Google search and you'll see all kinds of screen problems, and the response from Lenovo usually is to update your software, drivers, etc. Glad I got Geek Squad services up front, but we'll be without a computer for 2 weeks. The whole reason I went with Lenovo, after using them at work for years, is to avoid all this. This product line seems to be a lemon.

    0 star review/worst laptop

Where do i even begin. Just a couple weeks ago i left a one star review because of the classic ‘screen flickering’ that unfortunately so many others are experiencing too. Today, my laptop just turned off and gave the “black screen of death” WHILE I WAS IN THE MIDDLE OF A 3 PAGE ESSAY THAT IS DUE IN 2 DAYS. It will not turn on/charge and theres nothing i can do unless i turn it over for someone else to fix. MIND YOU this laptop is brand new out of the box 3 months old. Since my last review, i have noticed increasing complaints on this laptop and a less star review. In justification i believe this laptop doesnt even earn 3 stars overall. Although some claim to have no issues, your still taking a gamble with buying this product whether it be smooth sailing or immiate chaos I will be taking my laptop in tomorrow, and see how much it will cost, as well as the time estimation. I will report my findings tomorrow, but from what im seeing on these reviews, it is a long process. If i can get this laptop fixed, i plan to immediately sell it, and never purchase a lenovo product again...
