Broken Hinge after 1.5 years of purchase

I have owned this laptop for just over a year and a half. The left hinge suddenly broke off the other day and cracked the screen in the process. I can't close the lid anymore and can only use it as a desktop. I called Levnovo and they refuse to fix it stating it's out of the warranty period. This laptop has never been dropped or misused in anyway. I can count on one hand the times I used it as a tablet. I think this is a manufacturer defect. I'm no expert, but it seems that using screws instead of glue to attach the hinges could have prevented this issue.

Got this on sale for $650. No doubt it is worth that money. Screen can be dim in brighter situations which isn’t ideal for battery life when you have to max out screen brightness. I do however change that down 1-2 notches when it darker lighting. Boots up in 1-2 seconds and finger print reader is great.

Barely had this laptop for not even 2 years. It's a very nice computer. Slim and fast. But one day my wife was simply CLOSING IT. And the hinge broke through the screen.
Stay far away from this. Lenovo know it's a known issue and are not honoring a warranty claim on it saying it was mishandled.

Purchased this laptop on 12/13/2020 and left hinge broken with screen cracked on 2/12/2022. I have 4 year extended warranty from Lenovo and lenovo refused to repair as it is accidental damage.
This is not accidental damage this is manufacture defect.
I closed laptop screen normally and i heard pop noise, when i opened laptop left hinge is broken and caused screen damage. After a week right hinge also damaged.
I will not recommend this product to anyone.

I bought this just over 1 year ago and it has been a good laptop. I use it primarily at my desk and have done minimal traveling with the machine as I am working remotely at home. I went to close the lid of the laptop today and heard a pop and the lid stopped moving. Frustrating! This seems to be a major issue with the Yoga line.
Has happened to many others as documented in the Lenovo Forum:
https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Lenovo-Yoga-Series-Notebooks/Yoga-710-Screen-separating-in-bottom-right-hand-corner/m-p/4042656?page=1#4042656
Disappointing that Lenovo is not fixing this. I am additionally upset because I recommended this machine to a work colleague and now I am concerned that it was a bad recommendation.
I wish that Lenovo had a clear way to contact their warranty team on their website. The only information I can find is how to purchase an extended warranty, but the terms of the extension are unclear. I do not want to sink additional money into Lenovo when it is not clear if this defect would be covered.
Disappointing - I did a lot of research before making this purchase and Lenovo's reputation for quality, durability and customer support was a big reason I chose this machine. I'll be thinking twice about Lenovo in the future when evaluating product purchases for my company.

The laptop configuration looks amazing it's really fast and nice machine but somehow display is really bad. I bought exact same laptop from lenovo.com and the displays are very different. Unit here is with dim brightness with yellowish tint, don't know why ? I have spent hours by reading different threads to solve but seems like hardware issue and yes Night mode is not on. I probably would return.

I really want to like this computer. Great size, nice functionality and a great step up from my 5.5-year-old laptop. Sadly, I have had two of this same device exhibit the same screen/graphics problems within the first week of owning them (exchanged the first one, hoping it was just a dud). Shows strange pink lines at the top, then the screen flickers in and out repeatedly and unpredictably. Once the flickering seems to calm down there is a strange "delamination" of the pixels where text will appear fuzzy or line-y. It can only be resolved by restarting the laptop, but then will often recur again soon. I did a bit of looking around online, and it appears others have had similar issues with no clear resolution.
I have no interest in owning an unreliable product or a brand new laptop that does not work properly. I will be returning this unit and looking for something else.

We are sorry to hear that you are having issues with your Intel Evo-Certified, Lenovo Yoga 7i-14. This issue may be resolved by resetting the computer back to original factory settings. Here is a link to instructions for resetting your Windows 10 laptop: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/recovery-options-in-windows-10-31ce2444-7de3-818c-d626-e3b5a3024da5. If you are un able to properly boot the computer to reset it, this system is equipped with OneKey Recovery System. There is a very small pin hole on the bottom right side of the device, right near the top right corner of the cooling vent on the device. You will need a pin to push this reset button. Plug the device in. Let the battery charge for about 15 minutes. Push the reset button. The system should boot to a choice screen where you can choose "Restore To Factory Default". Select this. It will delete everything from the hard drive except the original factory install of the operating system. You will need to reinstall all programs and files after the reset. If you don't have copies of the files, try to make one before you restore by selecting "Boot to desktop" and trying to back up your files. If the problem persists after the factory reset, we recommend you contact Lenovo Tech Support at: 877-453-6686.

This computer worked well for a few months. Then I started having problems the windows operating system. I could not click the windows button, click anything on my task bar, or get it any settings or functions. It had to be sent it and reset. Thankfully this was still under manufacturer warranty. A few months later, certain keys on my keyboard stopped working. I took my computer in again, and it turned out to be another manufacturer error. I ended up paying half the price of the computer to replace the keyboard. When I got it back, it started making loud noises when running. The glue on the hinge broke off and my screen is cracked and half attached. All due to poor manufacturing.

I’ve had this less than 3 months and already major problems. The Best Buy clerk promoted Lenovo as the best and most economical PC. The first one I purchased died after a couple of years but I chalked it off as that it had run its course. I’m a grad student and I was working on something today, I had saved it to One Drive and the next thing I know the whole screen disappears (basically fades away) and nothing I did was bringing it back to life. So knowing the document was saved to One Drive, I shut it down and restarted the system. It restarted all right but the document was no where to be found. It took my daughter several hours but she was able to recover part of the document. Can I ever trust it again?

We are sorry to hear that you are having issues with your Intel Evo-Certified, Lenovo Yoga 7i-14. Be sure that the internal battery had a charge of at least 10 Percent and when you plug in your AC adapter/charger that you use the dedicated charging port on the left side of your Yoga 7i-14. There is only one port on the Yoga 7i-14 that can charge the computer. It is the USB-c Thunderbolt 4.0 port that has both the Thunderbolt icon as well as the electric plug icon next to the port. You can confirm that power is flowing to the internal battery by plugging in the AC adapter/charger to a wall socket, then plugging the computer side plug into the proper charging port. A LED light next to the charging port will shine when the laptop is charging properly. If you continue to have issues, we recommend you contact Lenovo Tech Support for additional help at: 877-453-6686.

Less than 1 year of normal use, and the hinges detached. No drops, no accidents.
Manufacturer representative said it's not covered under warranty. This is not a unique problem.

Very pleased with my first Yoga. No issues or problems in the first month. The design is light and sturdy, perfect for the couch, traveling, or a desk. I have not thrown much at this device yet but it appears to run fast and steady. I am not using this device for gaming so I cannot provide feedback in that category. I agree with other reviews that the power button is a little sensitive but you get used to it real quick, and it comes back from sleep mode very fast in case you do hit it. Make sure you read other reviews about upgrade capability as I believe the memory is soldered in but 12GB should be good enough for my needs of the device. I did some light research and kept seeing the i5 chipset in this laptop is matching the i7 performance in most categories which is great for preserving battery power and still getting a fast user experience. I didn't run a stopwatch but I would guess I am getting about 9 hours of use on each charge which beats many other competing devices. Not much bloatware on the device which is a blessing. The keyboard is really nice for me, though I miss the pg+/- Home/End buttons on the right like the HP models. The touchscreen has worked flawlessly so far, and I haven't had any brightness issues that some reviews commented about. I have used it in dark rooms, bright rooms and I think even outside for a short period with no issues. The sound is as expected for a compact device...if not enough, it has bluetooth so you can easily connect an external speaker. The camera is average and worked well enough for family zoom calls but if I was to use this professionally, I would invest in a better clip-on camera. Honestly you will most likely end up paying almost twice the price on another laptop with better speakers and camera which isn't worth the cost to me.
Overall this laptop has far exceeded my normal-day-use expectations and I wouldn't hesitate to buy another one in the future. Most of the Lenovos I had previously were work-issued but they all have been reliable systems which is another reason I took a chance with the Yoga.

I've had this laptop for roughly a month and overall, i quite like it. here's a breakdown of what's good and what isn't
Good- 12gb ram, sweet price, nice touchscreen functionality, great processor for everything but gaming, integrated graphics are great for being integrated graphics rather than dedicated. the battery life is phenomenal, the keyboard is a pleasure to type on and is nicely backlit, the trackpad is pretty good (but could be a tad bigger), the speakers are excellent, the screen is very clear and has great colors and viewing angles. the overall build quality is seriously great and mostly aluminum. Absolutely excellent cooling for the i5 variant (70 C max under a full load). very fast storage- this thing is crazy fast, like it boots up in seconds and imediately is ready to launch programs. i like the dual thunderbolt ports. it charges via usb-c. love the cover for the webcam. fingerprint reader is lightning fast and super accurate. its lightweight and looks more expensive than it really is. It's intel EVo, which i didnt know much about until after purchase, but it makes this laptop super user friendly with perks such as quickly awakening from sleep. Excellent wireless chip w/ wifi 6.
BAD- some of these are nit-picky and may not bother you, but here's what bothered me about this laptop- Could have had more native ports (id really like another USB-A, an SD card reader and a HDMI port). i wish the screen was slightly brighter at its max setting. its totally still a good screen, but it isnt a great screen. i wish there were media controls on the keyboard for skipping songs. the charger would be better as a brick style rather than the more traditional style laptop charger this thing comes with.
Conclusion- I was able to pick up the i5 11th gen, 12gb ram, 512 gb ssd version of this laptop for a really great price. It isnt a perfect laptop, but its pretty close. this thing is perfect for a college student, so long as they don't plan to game on it.
