‘Beefy’ Laptop Held Back by Touchpad Issues

It feels like a premium laptop and handles everything he needs for school. But he struggles with the touchpad as it has a major issue it randomly freezes or clicks on its own. The only way to fixing the issue is switching to touchscreen mode to reset the mouse. For a $1600 laptop, that’s disappointing, but overall he still calls it a ‘beefy beast.’

To start, regarding internal heat production, this Yoga 9i features an active cooling system, along with other components and software, designed to enable the user to power through work without throttling due to heat produced. We recommend that the bottom of the device, where the air intake vents are, is clear of obstructions to increase air flow. Additionally, this Yoga is equipped with Smart Control, enabling the user to use the key command combination of Fn + Q to toggle between thermal/performance mode. For instances where you may use the device in your lap or a situation where the intake vents may be obstructed, we recommend switching to cool or quiet mode to help with the heat felt on the bottom of the machine. Also, please check for and apply any available updates through Lenovo Vantage and Windows Update Settings to help ensure you are using the latest software and drivers to ensure your system is running as efficiently as possible.

From the moment I powered it on, I immediately noticed how fast and responsive it is. The performance is smooth, whether I’m multitasking, streaming, or working on productivity apps. The 2‑in‑1 design is one of my favorite features. Switching between laptop and tablet mode feels effortless, and the hinge is sturdy without being stiff. The touchscreen is bright, sharp, and extremely responsive, which makes browsing, note‑taking, and creative tasks feel natural. Battery life has also been impressive. I’m able to get through most of my day without having to recharge, which is a huge plus when I’m on the go. I spent around $1,700 and it cannot load google chrome tabs at all. I use this laptop for business and whenever I open my laptop it stays frozen for thirty minutes or displays a page unresponsive alert. Please refund me.

Based on what you shared it seems this issue presents itself when using Chrome, as no other instances were mentioned. To start, we recommend uninstalling and reinstalling the Chrome app from your computer (here's a link to a Microsoft Support webpage that shares how to uninstall programs should you need direction: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/uninstall-or-remove-apps-and-programs-in-windows-4b55f974-2cc6-2d2b-d092-5905080eaf98) to see if this resolve the matter.

Excellent Product

I was drawn to this device based on the 2-in-1 functionality and the amount of RAM that it had in it, as I do some fairly extensive Spreadsheet work that requires the extra RAM. Lenovo certainly did not disappoint! The performance of this device out of the box is unmatched, and I'm still blown away at how quickly it boots up and how quickly I'm able to get onto it and begin working. I find that it's lightweight, has amazing battery life, and has a keyboard and mouse touchpad that are pleasant to use. My only regret is not purchasing this laptop sooner!

Premium laptop that is efficient and premium

Checked recent reviews and was surprised how efficient the newer chips are. While the snapdragons does seem to have a slight advantage on power and efficiency it also comes with compatibility issues that I would rather not deal with. The two premium portable laptops that caught my attention was this one and the ASUS zenbook S 14. Both have very similar specs with great battery life. I ended up getting this one due to pricing/availability at the time. Apparently this fluctuates quite a bit so if you are set on one then I would wait a bit until the prices comes down. In my opinion the ASUS wins in design as it has a more premium touch and feel due to the ceraluminum and also being even super light at 2.6 lbs. Where this Lenovo wins is the fact that even though it is slightly heavier 2.9 lbs it is a 2 in 1 which makes it a bit more versatile. I use it alot in bed watching videos and having it in tent mode takes up a lot less space. The screen is also brighter, but I still have not been in a situation where it is needed yet. The Sound quality is pretty good, I heard the previous gen (9) with the same design but bang olufsen speakers sounds amazing, i don't have one to compare it with but this is a bit of a let down knowing its been downgraded. Overall this is a great laptop as long as you are not trying to do any heavy lifting. I applaud Intel(TSMC) for making this possible.

It was well built, a good size, great functions (like the fingerprint access option), includes a pen for writing on the screen so you don’t need to try to find one that’s compatible and it’s really just beautiful. The blue and shiny accents. Unfortunately I needed a computer with a different processor for what I was using it for so sadly I returned it. I’m not sure about battery life but the picture was amazing!

It's quiet, sleek, and really great for basic tasks and media. A great screen, speakers, and an iGPU good enough for light gaming. Battery life is fantastic, it's very portable, and it feels very well-made. Biggest issue with it is that the keyboard layout is non-standard, and this was significant enough for me to return it. I thought I'd get used to the extra row of keys, but after a month trying to adapt, I kept on hitting the wrong key. Also, the fingerprint sensor barely works, and one function key launches software that isn't even supported anymore. If that layout doesn't bother you, it's definitely worth the sale price. I purchased it for $1100 open box, and that is far more reasonable than the regular price.

This is a great investment

It's light weight, has great battery life and it's very attractive. I wouldn't buy this as a dedicated gaming laptop, though it can handle a ton, but for all business applications, AI, programming and the like. Graphics, arts and drawing are also strong suits for this laptop.

It's very quick, has a great keyboard, and amazing battery life. I compared this keyboard to the HP Omnibook X Flip and although the screen was much bigger, the speaker and keyboard quality was not as good as this Lenovo. I love that when watching Netflix shows with Dolby Vision, the screen automatically switched to Dolby Vision HDR mode and produces a much brighter and vibrant picture than the standard screen mode. You can also charge the laptop on either side with the Type C cable.
