Good value for a 2 in 1 laptop

I wanted something relatively inexpensive that still had more than 8GB of RAM, and found this with 12GB. Its a big upgrade from the older laptop I was still using, and I'm having to adapt to using Windows instead of Mac, though that is a much better prospect than it once was. Overall I'm very happy with this Lenovo Yoga, and would recommend to anyone looking for a reasonably priced laptop with lots of function.

You can keep your computer running at its best by keeping the Windows 10 Operating System and all supporting BIOS files and drivers up to date. You can easily accomplish this by scanning the computer with the Lenovo Utility software available on this computer. This system has Lenovo utilities installed to help maintain the health of the device and keep the operating system software up to date. Type "Lenovo Vantage" in the Cortana Search window (if Lenovo Vantage is not installed on your device, you can download the APP and install it now). Select Lenovo Vantage from the list. In the window that opens, click on "Health and Support". In the expanded menu, select "Hardware Scan" In the window that opens, select "Run Quick Tests". This will scan your entire system for errors. Follow any directions that may pop up. If the problem continues after this scan, now click on "System Update". First select Windows update from the menu. Scan your system to be sure you have the latest version of Windows 10. Once that scan is complete, select "Additional Updates". Needed it for work (emails, PPT, etc) and continued education online along with video games and it works great. I was hesitant due to the reviews, but it was a great price for the inclusions. This might not be ideal for a high tech person, but it's ideal for my needs. Cortana was new to me (been 5 years since my last laptop) and it's helped me to navigate a lot.

I got the 14 inch, 10th gen i5 version like a month ago and while it was fine, the lower part of the screen was loose like the far left and right corners, and there was a POP in the middle of the screen if you wiped on it or something. I was def worried even though I had it for a month. ALSO, 8 GB of RAM is NOT ENOUGH for a computer that is soldered on. If you keep this and technology and websites get loaded later a few years from now, you'll struggle. In short, I returned it. got the 15 inch with 12GB of RAM and I am happier!

The screen is big, and is touchscreen. I especially love the fingerprint scanner. Although it is a good addition, the scanner often asks to reread my fingerprint so it isn’t always accurate. But it is definitely a faster option to log onto your computer. If the laptop material was smoother, and lighter I would definitely give it a 10/10.

No need to press hard on the reader, in fact pressing hard on the fingerprint reader will distort your fingerprint and cause read errors.

Part of my job requires that I video chat, along with the regular tasks I have always done on my computers and chromebooks. I generally go with lower-end machines as my needs are pretty simple. But, more time on my devices caused me to recognize the time I wasted waiting for these slow machines to do what I needed them to do. Freezes, slow reboots, slow data transfers, all really became problems working at home. I decided to go up a notch or two and try this machine. I am so happy that I did. The machine is beautiful and well made. The screen looks great and works as I hoped for video chatting. And, the SSD is so fast in performing all the tasks that used to slow me down. I paired it with a WD Passport external drive for my data storage and backup and it's been a great combo. I haven't used tablet-mode too often, but when I have, it worked well and gave me a powerhouse while I sat and watched TV in my recliner. I'm very pleased with my purchase! (I also got it on sale and the price didn't hurt.)

But so far, just from playing a few games that don't have amazing graphics it has run great. Hasn't froze once and I have had a very easy time figuring out how it all works. But this laptop deserves some of my time to make others aware. It's easily the best laptop I've ever owned. And in my view a great value. First the screen is amazing. It's the same screen on much more expensive Yoga models. You have to make sure you get this screen due to brightness issues. I tried some of the 2019 Yoga models and the dimmer screen was a problem. This screen is great even during the day. Due your due diligence and make sure it has the 500 nit screen. I also really love the keyboard. The play is almost perfect and I for one really like having a numerical keyboard. Along with that the small bezels translates to a slim form factor that is spot on. The metallic casing also give it nice solid feel and a high end look. Throw in a 256 GB SSD and 12 GB of Ram and you've got a machine that works now and is pretty darn future proof. What do you give up with this mid level Yoga. Two things. First it has a i5 processor as opposed to an i7. This is not a gaming laptop. Frankly I can't tell the difference and wouldn't pay the premium. The only other small quibble is it doesn't have the sexy hinges you find on the higher end Yogas. Are sexy hinges worth $500. I say no All in all this is a great machine and a great value. I've had it for 6 months with nary an issue and still really like it. Hope this helps.

For the month that I had it, it was super fast and had great battery life. I'm a teacher so it was crucial for me to have a laptop I could draw on. So I definitely recommend this laptop for those who teach. However, I received a faulty laptop that died on me in a month. Currently waiting on a replacement!
