Many appreciate the features, performance, and price point, along with the capacity and design. One important feature ignored

Walking into a kitchen many first check the time by looking at their microwaves' clock. Forget it on this model, you have to walk over to it and open the door for the time to be displayed. After 5 minutes of inactivity the clock shuts down. No energy savings when we have to go turn it on! Who thought this was a good idea? Brand new now I will have to sell at loss and go find another.

Overheating Issue and Terrible Service from LG

Bought this microwave last year, was working well for about 6 months until the upper part of the appliance became very hot every time we used it. . We called LG support and they instructed us to bring it back to the store, we were required to purchase another LG product to receive a refund reimbursement. Seemed reasonable and off we went. Best Buy was very helpful, purchased the same unit as this was rated pretty well and we thought this must have been a one off issue. The downside occurred when we submitted the reimbursement to LG for the cost of the replacement. We used our Best Buy reward dollars for almost half of the purchase. LG would not reimburse us for that amount. They sent us a check for only the card portion as indicated on the receipt. Terrible service, even spoke with a supervisor. Really disappointed, had always had high regards for this brand but the customer service from the manufacturer and their willingness to stand by their products needs work. We won't be buying LG again, regret giving them a second chance.

    Not built to last

Originally bought to replace an Amana that was destroyed by a major power surge. Lasted about a year and a half before it stopped working. Unplugging the power would reset it, and it limped along like that for another six months. Replaced it with the same model only because we had invested in a trim kit, and it would cost considerably more to go with a different brand that might not last much longer.

Our child indicated a need for a microwave at college so we decided to buy a new one for the house. The old one was a 1981 Kenmore which was missing the bottom glass tray (broke a number of years ago and parts are no longer carried), did not have a turntable, and some of the touch panel LED lights were out or fading. This model has a lot more power, integral turntable, simultaneous kitchen timer and cooking, and many more features. However, construction is lighter.

Overall its a descent product, there are some features that are not as good as my cheaper microwave had like won't heat or boil water as fast as my cheat one and that its dim on the inside so its hard to tell where the food has splattered on so its hard to really clean. on the plus note it does deforest my frozen veggies really well.

a tid bit too large for our space

I was excited when I received the microwave. It was quite stylish in terms of electronics, with a large interior cabinet. unfortunately it was just a little to large for the shelf cutout we have in our office kitchen, so we had to return it. It was kinda heavy, but I toted it through the streets of Manhattan to a local best buy, who accepted it with no problem. i was interested in swapping it for a slightly smaller unit, but they didn't carry any in the store, so I ended up going with another manufacturer.

you better get the extended warranty!

20 mos to the day, the Magnetron starts humming loudly, meaning its about to die and this "top rated" LG Microwave will be worthless. The part by the way costs $105 and expert installation($$) is recommended because of high voltage currency. We paid $151, so we will not be buying another LG product, but we will be buying an extended warranty, because you know folks, they just don't make 'em like they used to!

    Excellent Large Counter-top Microwave

I was looking for a counter-top microwave to replace an old over the stove microwave. After doing research, the LG from Best Buy provided the best value and had excellent ratings. I have been using it for the past couple of months and am very pleased with the product. It has enough convenience features and is easy to use. The sensor reheat is very convenient and good. Overall it was an excellent choice.

I would never would have bought this if I had realized that I can't read the control panel after dark in a modestly lit kitchen. The LG designer didn't consider even a range of lighting conditions. I'm disappointed. Survivors don't design like this today. Customer service said this unit is only for "well lit kitchens".

We have had the microwave for a little over a month now...It has been great. We have had to adjust to the higher wattage, but that just means our food is getting done quicker!

After having this appliance for just over a year, it quit working. Noticed something was amiss after about 6 months when it would not operate on occasion. Now it is completely dead. Bought it because of the impressive stainless steel styling and the interior which features a curved back panel.. This design eliminates sharp corners where food becomes trapped, making for easy cleaning. Glad I kept my old Panasonic microwave which I had for over 15 years. I now use the Panasonic and although it doesn't look as nice, at least it runs..

A Very Good Quality Microwave Oven

    Posted .

We like everything about this oven, except perhaps the interior color...it's a bit dark. Light is absorbed by dark colors, not reflected, so we normally have to turn on a surrounding light to help out. That being said, it's a minor quibble. The interior is rounded, so it makes oblong pans turn more freely, and not bounce around corners

Got it home, plugged in set clock in about three minutes clock went out. Set again, went out again. Moved to a different outlet, same results. Clock and pad didn't work. Return to Best Buy the next day. Bought a Panasonic, no problem after 3 days.

The auto-sensor/auto-reheat calculations are spot-on. It takes a dish from frozen to table without under or over cooking. Popcorn pops well, but it does require about 20-seconds more than the auto-timer affords (and, with those 20 extra seconds, there are about 4 unpopped kernels)
