Loved the features, but compressor failed after 3 years, which is apparently a known defect.

This refrigerator was not cheap (a little under $3,000). But, it had all the features I wanted and it would fit my opening. Plus, the major component (compressor) had a 10 year warranty.
From the very first, it made all sorts of gurgling, whining and wheezing sounds. I stopped by the BB store I bought it from and the sales associate assured me it was a high efficiency refrigerator and those sounds were normal.
Lived with the sounds for a few months (loud enough to hear from our Den, 20 feet away from the kitchen). Finally, called LG to see what they would say. They sent a tech out and he said everything seemed to be running fine, and that the sounds were normal.
Fast forward a few more months, sounds get louder and louder, but I ignore them based on what BB and LG told me.
Then, last week, the week before Thanksgiving, the sounds stopped. This was accompanied by a total breakdown of the fridge. All my Thanksgiving dinner and fixings were ruined. I would say $500 worth of food, ruined. It's still well within the 1 year parts and labor warranty.
Called LG, who said they did not have a tech who could service my unit, but would look for someone who would and would get back to me within a few hours. A few hours came and went. A day came and went. Nearly a week has gone by, I haven't heard a peep from LG.
I called techs in my area on my own. None of them want to touch the LG as they say the compressor is a well known failure point and they're backed up until next month. So, not having a fridge for nearly a month isn't my idea of good service.
Contacted Best Buy, who said without Geek Squad payment, they wouldn't touch it. In short, if you want GOOD SERVICE from Best Buy, you have to pay extra.
Right now, the fridge is sitting in my kitchen taking up space and I have to go find a new one to replace the LG.........Let me emphasize, the LG IS STILL UNDER WARRANTY, which isn't worth the paper it's written on.

We upgraded to this LG from a basic model fridge. This one is awsome. LED light is nice and bright, lights up the whole inside. It keeps food fresh and cold. I didn't realize bending down to get in the fridge was such a pain, but now we don't have to. I wish door-in-door was a little bigger but it's still super convenient. Freezer has plenty of room. The icemaker makes plenty for daily use and we have 6 people in the house. It looks great with the LG appliances in the kitchen. We love this purchase so far !!

Received on friday. Wont cool to temp set to. Needs a thermister. Was told to keep on 37 degrees for 24 hours. Did that then went down to 35, still 47 degrees inside. Turned it down to 33, which is the lowest setting, still wont get below 42. LG came out and says it needs a thermister and suppose to be out Monday to replace the part.

Owned our LG refrigerator for around 2 years, never moved. Makes loud audible sound at certain compressor operating speeds. Sound is around 85dB in the room adjacent to the kitchen. Sound goes away when I pull on the top of the unit. Suspect loose mechanical connection. Contacted LG customer support, virtually no help. Had me check level and door alignment, both of which were normal. No further assistance offered. Customer support rep was difficult to understand and technically deficient.

Condensation

The unit is condensating on the left side exterior wall of unit and on our brand new cabinetry. It acts like there is not enough insulation in the side wall by ice-maker. This will eventually wreck or mold our new wood cabinets. Totally unacceptable in my eyes for a unit that cost as much as this one.

In humid environments such as coastal areas or during the summer months, moisture in the air may condense on the cabinet which is usually cooler than the room environment. If this is the case, condensation should be minimal and dried off with a soft cloth. There could also be excess moisture on the refrigerator from cooking as well. If you have been cooking most of the day or for a few hours, wipe the moisture away. Haven't had a month yet and already the ice maker overfills with water and all on the kitchen floor. Happened twice waking up to a wet kitchen. Called LG and they we're no help. Too much money for a leaking fridge.

Rust on LG stainless steel appliances

After we moved to our new condo, we changed all appliances to stainless steel LG brand. After only 6 months, the surface of all of them were covered by dots of rust. When we called LG, they brushed us off saying it has to do to do with how we have cleaned them. But we have other stainless steel products in the kitchen from other manufacturers and they have no rust on them after years of use. LG has lost a very loyal customer for their very poor customer support.

Our fridge temperature is 22 degrees. We contacted LG multiple times and have had several parts replaced, but they cannot resolve the problem. We have been working for 6 months to resolve it and have thrown out hundreds of dollars of frozen produce . Customer service is slow to respond to the issue and does not want to replace the defective fridge
