I got this monitor on an awesome sale from BestBuy and I love it. It's bright and big and I love the fact that you can do split screen from two different computers. I also love the fact that you can share a mouse between two computers and that it's a free download to do so. Having a display port and two HDMI ports is also very convenient.
I think if I had a complaint it would be the lack of a simple method for switching inputs quickly. I've had other monitors where I could just switch inputs in 2 clicks or less. I would have liked to see something like that here.
But in all honesty I don't know that I would pay full price for this monitor. That's a bit too expensive for me but I think when it goes on sale for at least a $100 or more off then it's a must buy.

I have owned this monitor for 41 days. It got a red vertical line down the screen. And since I only had 30 days to return to Best Buy, I now have to go through the pain of LG customer support.

Bought this monitor after reading reviews. This item was an open box special. BB indicated it was same as new and box contained all accessories when I purchased. First off- there was no D-port cable in box. But no big deal as I would buy a better quality one anyway. Unfortunately this monitor had some "issues" and would not load. I returned it. Lesson learned.

It flickers, can't paint the screen and drains computer resources horribly. I wish I had realized this but instead I thought my computer just didn't have enough RAM to support it. so, I bought a new computer with 64 GHz of RAM. No improvement. Terrible product.

GREAT MONITOR, BUUUHHHHHT......

I purchased 2 these monitors at the same time. You need to have a video card that can run them both at 4k at 60Hz. Most stock computers can't run the monitor at 4k, and if you can, then an even larger majority of stock video cards that CAN run the monitor at 4k, can only do so at 29Hz - which will make your screen flicker, especially noticeable when moving items around on your desktop.
If you want to run 1 or 2 of these monitors, you need a video card that can run it at 4k at 60hz, and don't forget to get a better monster brand HDMI cable too. The stock one is not great and if you want what you paid for, don't go cheap on the cable.
If you bought an HP Envy or any other computer form Best Buy off the shelf, I can almost guarantee that you will not be running this monitor at 4k, and definately not 4k at 60hz.
DO YOUR RESEARCH.
Oh... and the base is wobbly.. blla bla blah.... Get a better mount.
This may sound like a lot to deal with, but the screen is unmatched for quality, at this price point.

Great Monitor but do your homework on 4k

This monitor works wonderfully with my PC. I also work in the IT world and know you cant just plug any old PC into this monitor. Very high resolutions require a decent amount of power (Video Card). A powerful video card requires a big power supply 600 Watts plus power supply.
That said, I run a AMD FX8370 Black Edition OC'd, 32gigs of Hyper X1866mhz Ram DDR3, Gigabyte G1 Gaming 990fx MB, MSI GTX1070 8gig Gamer X video card, SoundBlaster Z Sound card and a 1000 watt power supply.
Now you wont need all that to use this monitor but just keep in mind that you cant use a normal laptop/PC and expect to watch 4k and game 4k without issues. Read your specs also, see a lot of people not able to run it at 60mhz in 4k. Remember your video card must support the resolution and refresh rate. NVIDIA cards GTX1050 and up run this in HDMI perfectly for gaming. AMD cards require the display port I believe.

I'm giving this monitor 5 stars, taking into account the price. Compromises had to be made to reach this price point, and if you can't accept those compromises for the money you'll save, then be prepared to spend hundreds more.
The stand is metal reinforced plastic, and has no swivel, pivot, or height adjustments - only tilt. Put the monitor on a lightweight table or desk, and bump that table/desk, the monitor might wobble a bit - it might even wobble a little when adjusting the picture. It doesn't have G-Sync. There is no USB hub...
Buy this monitor, and you are paying for the IPS panel, which is as good as many in far more expensive monitors. Thank goodness LG didn't compromise where it really matters - the panel. As do all IPS panels, it has its weaknesses - blacks could be darker, contrast could be better, and there is some IPS glow - but that's true of all IPS panels.
What you do get is much better color, and viewing angles. Color and gamma do not shift if you move your head, and are the same at the edges of the screen as they are at the center. Overall, the picture just looks better than any TN screen. Until someone releases a UHD VA panel monitor with good viewing angles, or an OLED monitor, this is the best we have.
The monitor claims to be calibrated, but I found the picture too green, and way too bright - of course, that can be adjusted. And, I didn't see any backlight bleed - just the usual IPS glow - but that can vary, sample to sample.
If you are like me, and are going to take this monitor home, set it up on a reasonably sturdy surface, adjust the tilt and be done with it, save yourself some money and buy this monitor. If you truly need or want a really sturdy stand with lots of adjustments, a USB hub, and G-Sync, pony up $1,000, and don't complain!

AWESOME Monitor - GREAT Price!

I rarely write reviews - but this monitor is superb. Even at regular price, this monitor is a steal! Getting it on sale is icing on the cake!! Superb quality - FAST response. The only downside is making sure your computer/graphics card is up to the challenge of supporting 4K video. Received this as a Christmas present and became so spoiled with it during my vacation. When I returned to work, my dual monitor HD setup now seems so dated.
When I saw this monitor in the store, my jaw dropped at the quality. Being able to compare this monitor with everything else sold me instantly on it's beauty. Don't take my word for it - see it for yourself. You won't be disappointed!

So I was at best buy looking for a monitor. I saw this 4k monitor and it just stood out from all the ones on display. I do have a 55" 4k tv that i was using as my desktops' display, but it just seemed to big, but the resolution is incredible. I could have gone with something else like a widescreen or something with a 144 refresh rate, but for my World of Warcraft or MMORPG games, this Display is amazing. Also Eve online is gorgeous and no screen tearing or flickering. Freesync is working great with my XFX R9 390 card. Give it a try.
Cons: The stand is a bit wobbly and cant be pulled up, just tilts.
no support for 60hz refresh rate through HDMI

The affordable QUALITY 4K monitor we've been waiti

This is the 4K monitor I have been waiting for. Affordable and quality. Be aware, there's 3 types of the monitor: one with a Sliver stand and white back, one with a black stand and black back (this one), and one with a black stand that pivots and rotates with a black back (the other two versions are sold on other sites, not Amazon).
I've been searching for a true 4K monitor that suits my needs (I'm a video production solo gig) and this monitor is it. I have the 2013 Mac Pro since it was released and have been using the Dell P2815Q monitor (a overly priced half-baked TN panel 4K monitor), this monitor is light years ahead of quality, viewing angles, overall color, and brightness compared to that Dell. This feels like a $1000 monitor for half the price. Now since Apple first showcased the Mac Pro, they said you can run 3 4K monitors and I've searching for the right monitor that I can do with for a low price without sacrificing quality. This monitor is my answer. Currently I have 1, but soon my dream of having that infinitely famous triple monitor setup will happen with this.
Also fun fact: 3 of these monitors equals the price of Dell's 5K monitor... Now which one would you really choose? I know.
Look here's the bottom line: If you've been looking for an quality IPS 4K monitor with accurate color, great brightness, thin bezels (man there thin), and for a low price, you've found the answer.
I'll update this review in a few months after using the monitor for a while.

When I saw this monitor at Best Buy, it was the best looking monitor and picture among all on the display. Colors were realistic and very bright, bezel very thin and looked quite modern. I bought it since it was out of stock at the store online. After trying it for several days, I decided to return it, primarily due to some annoyances:
1) if you are putting it on the table, lack of tilt and height adjustment is annoying. Also display is very unstable if you try to play with menu;
2) Colors in pictures and videos are realistic and pleasing. However if you are planning to use it on the black background with white or green foreground, like in development environment, it is getting uncomfortably bright, and that was my primary use case.
On the positive side - even though it is not a matte finish, no glare was noticeable and blacks were really dark. Good job LG, even though I am not your customer here.

Excellent picture BAD stand

I bought this about 50 days ago. It was originally mounted to a VESA mount on my work table. The picture is outstanding, the edge is small, so multiple monitors may be placed together with very little seam.
In all I would rate it high IF you mount it to something.
I bought a nice desk to replace my work table. I put the stand that came with it on the monitor, due to not wanting to mar the desk. It lasted almost one week before it fell over on its face and cracked the screen.
I now have a worthless $500 decoration.

Better than Apple

For Christmas I was able to acquire an lg 4K monitor sold by Apple made for macs. But I have the 2015 MacBook Pro so it wouldn't work with that specific LG monitor. So I took it back and for a little less money got a bigger and badder display. I am using an HDMI to Mini display port (thunderbolt 2) adapter to connect it to my MacBook (also has hdmi capabilities but I prefer thunderbolt) I am absolutely satisfied with this display.

Great Editing Monitor after Calibration

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.
This monitor is pretty great for photoshop work after some calibration of course. It has been color consistent and is very sleek. However I will admit I had to adjust my settings in Photoshop to have larger icons and text with the 4k settings. My only complaint is the price fluctuates greatly on this monitor, so keep your eye on it for a few weeks before purchasing.

Great IPS monitor for Price

I am using this monitor with Lenovo Desktop with nvidia 700 series card 2GB memory. Win 10, main use office suite, netflix/you tube, internet browsing.
Image quality is superb, I have used some tweaks made as mentioned on some reviews.
For Price this would be one the cheapest IPS 4K monitor with great image quality.
No dead pixel
Screen uniformity is good overall, very slight bright spot on bottom right edge in complete dark screen but no issue otherwise (very normal with bright IPS panels)
Design is super slick with issue, (stand is flimsy and could wobble for non sturdy desk, not a issue for me i am using it office with sturdy desk otherwise i would deduct 1/2 star)
On screen menus using OS are great and one can change setting in windows without dangling with menu button physically.
Dual input split screen is big plus, can use two computers and use both hdmis with split screen. I will use Mac book pro with retina display to connect 2nd HDMI port with MDP to HDMI connection.
Matte finish screen, AG coating do not bother me but some have complained.
if you need 4K monitor this is best for the money.
Best Buy price match is sweet, so i can see before i buy and avoid internet return hassle if something goes wrong. 45 day return/exchange is sweet for elite plus members.

I read a bunch of reviews on this monitor and saw it at a best buy store when I was in it during black Friday weekend. $500 seemed like a pretty fair price for a 4k IPS monitor but I'm a college student, so it wasnt really something that I absolutely needed, just wanted. Well, surprisingly, the next day I looked online and this item was a cyber monday deal, and my local store had it open box, price was wayyy to good not to snatch it up.
I've been using the monitor for a few days now and I'm so impressed with it. I have an AMD R9 290 card which supports freesync, as well as this monitor. The R9 290 supports 4k gaming, but the card needs to be updated to really have an enjoyable 4k experience. Basic usage in 4k however looks fantastic. On webpages you can see so much more at once, having 4 windows opened up and pinned is amazing, and being able to see many more lines of code programming makes it so worth it for me. Once I'm done with college and am actually making a decent salary you can bet I'll be scooping up some more of these.

I built a new PC last year and included a pair of Radeon R9 390X video cards in it. These each have a DisplayPort connector and are capable of 4K video resolution. It would be a shame not to use them so I picked up this LG monitor when it was on sale at Best Buy. The picture is great and it works flawlessly. The mount leaves something to be desired as others have pointed out but I wanted a monitor that can be wall mounted and this one can so that won't be an issue for me. Several of the other monitors I looked at can't be wall mounted.
It comes with a DisplayPort cable that's about 4 feet long which wasn't long enough for me. I had to buy a longer one. It also comes with a 4-foot long HDMI cable. I did check the HDMI input and it works fine too, just not in 4K resolution.
