    Great extra desktop space

I love the extra desktop space this monitor provides. I had looked at smaller ultra-widescreen monitors, but their display was only about 9 inches tall, which would have required a lot of up/down scrolling. This one gives me a screen that is about 11 inches by 27 inches. I often have multiple windows open, and this gives me more space to put them side-by-side. I have not used the built-in speakers, as I already had external speakers, but I am very pleased with the quality of the display. As noted by others, the display has lots of brightness, and I was able to turn the monitor's brightness way down, and still have a nice, bright display. I did run into one problem, and that was a shortcoming of my 3 month old HP desktop computer that I paid a thousand dollars for. Since I do not play games (other than spider solitaire) I went with the on-board graphics. It would not do anything above 1920x1080, though. I purchased a $60 video card for the computer, and that gave me the required resolution for this monitor.

Works fine in full resolution with HDMI

From all the reviews and info I read, I thought I was going to have a hard time getting it to run at native resolution and would need a displayport connection. Fortunately, this is not the case! With my Intel NUC, it popped up in full res without issue using the HDMI cable. I'm not sold on curved screens, but there is a definite case to be made for it with these ultra-wide monitors where you view it from up close. It's not super comfortable looking from side to side, but all-in-all, I still think it is better than 2 monitors.

Great resolution on the screen, and allows you to easily see things side-by-side and spreadsheets with more columns than usual. However, it doesn't seem to suspend correctly, and will turn back on at random times of night, even when my connected system is still hibernating. Although I have rated this highly, I wouldn't recommend this particular model, only because there is a larger one available that would enhance the benefits that much more.

This monitor has seen heavy use over the past several years, and has been great. I finally am looking to upgrade to get something with variable sync as well as a higher refresh rate, but for gaming and productivity the 21:9 aspect ratio has been fantastic. I'm glad it appears to be surviving the test of time.

have only had this for a couple of months, but is working well without a problem. Like the ultrawide screen. Although is not as much desktop room as having a 27inch monitor with a smaller side monitor which was my original plan, it does allow me to have multiple applications open at the same time. I typically use two applications at a time with each filling one half of the screen. Eg easy to do word processing and internet browsing at the same time or to look at multiple documents side by side. I also like the dual hdmi capability- have my work computer hooked up to one hdmi and personal laptop to the other. Takes a couple of couple of clicks on the single power/menu button in the center on the bottom of the screen, but not too bad. Wish there was a separate toggle switch that allowed switching between the two hdmi inputs a little better. Speakers are good, although have not used them for anything special. Have not used to view movies or for gaming. Have not had to use the software that came with it- ready to use out of the box, but I am probably not using it to the fullest capability. The two hdmi inputs are in the back one is a side plug - parallel to the body but the other is perpendicular to the body in the back. Although i think this is mountable, not sure if having the plug in the back in this manner will require a minimal distance from the wall.

If you need a new display and don't want to shell out for a 4k display this is a good value. 21:9 is fantastic is you have multiple windows side by side.

Image is great, and the color is just about a perfect match for my two 24" LG monitors, which is a nice bonus. The stand and monitor construction are pretty solid, although as noted the downward tilt is next to nonexistent so be wary, if the monitor sits above you in your setup you may need to switch to a VESA mount solution to get the right angle. Bright side is, this can be mounted! To get the full resolution you'll need to use HDMI or dual-link DVI, supposedly. I was unable to get the full resolution when I hooked it up through DVI, however, I believe this may be due to the fact that I had it hooked up to a mini display port adapter on the back of my Mac Pro, which doesn't have a native DVI output. In theory display port has more throughput than DVI so it shouldn't have been a problem, but it wouldn't work for me. I believe this is important largely because the monitor boasts that it is Mac compatible but the Pro only comes with one HDMI output, so you may not be able to hook up more than one of these. Additionally, it may not work at all with Macbooks and other devices that would require the use of a display port adapter. Not at the full resolution at least, it will either letterbox a 1920x1080 image or stretch it to fit. Speakers are like any other monitor speakers, pretty mediocre. But let's face it, if you're spending ~$400 on a 29" ultra wide screen monitor, you're probably not buying it for the speakers. You've probably already bought some real speakers. It might seem like I've talked more about problems here, but that's because my list of complaints is short enough to include in full here. That above, accounts for all my issues. The packaging is great, it protected the monitor while I drove 1,300 miles to move to a new state. The ultra wide screen aspect is compatible with most of the games I play, although in a few cases you might have to mess with some setup files to force the max resolution on the game. Skyrim, Borderlands 2, League of Legends, Dungeon Defenders, etc. I actually can't think of a recent game I was unable to get running at 2560x1080. The ultra wide aspect is also great for field of view immersion, the screen is so wide you actually have some sort of peripheral vision. Should be noted that though I use this with a Mac Pro, I have Bootcamp running Windows 8 and the monitor functions well there too. No dead pixels, no backlight bleeding. Solid overall and a perfect mid-budget purchase if you can afford a nicer monitor but can't afford the 34" ultra widescreen monitors LG makes that sell for over twice as much, near the $1,000 mark. My final note is that you can get a Korean-brand 2560x1440p monitor from a few places for a little bit cheaper than this. If you want the ultra wide screen this is your buy, but 1440p monitors are the same width in pixels, and are enough extra pixels tall so that they are the standard aspect ratio that you get on 1920x1080 monitors. So overall, 1440p packs more pixels for your dollar, at the cost of some Korean branding that usually has a little bit of backlight bleeding. I personally valued the LG brand and actually didn't want all the pixels that come with 1440p because I wanted to be able to continue running higher graphic settings in game. I also wanted the ultra wide screen ratio for the field of view immersion. But 1440p is a serious alternative depending on your needs and I think it should be considered before you pull the trigger.

The monitor works fine, but I didn't realize that it needed a newer video card to support it. [The HP computer attached to the monitor was almost five years old.] Be sure to check your video card's capabilities before buying this monitor to use with an existing computer. I had some difficulty purchasing the monitor. Originally I bought an "open item", only to find missing parts. Different salespeople and floor managers gave me conflicting information about what Best Buy could do for me. Thankfully the store manager I contacted was very nice about addressing the situation to my satisfaction.

Love the 2560 x 1080 pixels, especially after a couple months of use. I know there are some crazy resolutions out there for movies and gaming, but this is what I needed for extra real estate for daily use at a reasonable price. Two HDMI, Display port, and DVI gives me lots of options. My most frequent setup is a Windows laptop with a hdmi. I used to run the laptop monitor and another monitor, but now, I turn off the laptop monitor and focus on one screen with 2560 x 1080. I also used this with my mac mini, but a mac will need a display port adapter to get 2560 x 1080. The speakers are average, and I am glad they are there, but this is not why you are going to buy this monitor. The Screen Split application divides you screen up in zones and then snaps applications into those zones. It is kinda like Windows 8.1 snap to edge, but it gives you more options. If you spend long hours researching and writing reports, you are going to appreciate the "reading mode" that adjusts the coloring of the screen to make it easier on the eyes. Great monitor that you expect from LG.

This one hurts. I'm a programmer, and I'm always looking for a way to expand the amount of screen real estate that I have to work with. So, this monitor seemed like a great choice. Unfortunately, I can't get it to work with it's native resolution (2560 x1080) when using it with my Mac Mini (late 2012 version). I've even gone so far as to use the excellent shareware program SwitchResX, which seems to unlock every possible resolution EXCEPT 2560 x 1080 for this monitor. I'm currently running it at 2560 x 1440. While this IS more pixels, the display is "squished" and annoying to look at. Fortunately, I've been able to come up with a font to use that makes my coding work bearable, but, video and other tasks remain squished and hard to deal with on a daily basis. As you might guess, plugging this into a Windows box, even a low-end Windows 8 laptop, brings up the monitor in it's correct native resolution. (That also hurts.) So, for Windows, a great choice, recommended. For Mac, try before you buy if at all possible. (I'd love to hear from users of other Mac models [iMac, Mac Pro, etc.] that have experience with this monitor.)

First off, just the presence of this monitor is incredible! Anytime anyone comes over and sees it, they just stop and stare for a second. Second, this thing is REALLY cool for playing games on. I had been wanting a multi-monitor setup for a while now, and this is the next best thing. Also, you can plug in two different things to the monitor and view both at the same time in split screen. The only drawbacks I have noticed are that this monitor is 5ms response time, and sometimes that is noticeable during fast moving scenes in movies. The other drawback, whenever I watch a movie or TV show on this, if the screen fades to black, whenever things come back, the brightness is much dimmer than I have it set to be. Once I go back to the menu and move the brightness over by 1 in either direction, it goes back to the normal brightness. Oh, and an extra bonus, this monitor has speakers! And honestly, they don't sound that bad! Still flat compared to a 2.1 speaker setup, but definitely the best speakers I have heard in a monitor.

Great widescreen monitor. Makes for a great replacement for double screen setup. However, (a BIG however), we were told that the HDMI cable (included in packaging) was sufficient for 1080p resolution. This is most definitely not the case. It even states this in the LG paperwork. You WILL need a DisplayPort Cable. Hours of scouring the internet, searching stores and borrowing cables and we finally sorted this out. Hope this informs at least one person to save their time. Overall great monitor. Just OK buying experience.

Its great having the extra wide space to multitask, having two essentially full windows open at the same time. The monitor comes with software that allows you to do this rather quickly and effortlessly. The matt finish of the monitor is nice eliminating glare. The picture quality is excellent with options to customize and adjust color formats. Games optimized for the extra wide monitors provide a whole new level of gameplay that can't be experienced on standard monitors. Overall very pleased with my purchase!
