I was expecting more from this soundbar system. I had difficulty running the room software setup. It is OK, but not enough better than the Tv’s sound to justify the cost. Get something higher up the food chain or don’t bother.

Here’s a review for the LG 3.1.3 Channel Soundbar with Wireless Subwoofer, Dolby Atmos, and DTS:X based on the key specs and features:
Title: Elevate Your Home Theater Experience with LG's Latest Soundbar
Review:
I recently upgraded my home entertainment system with the LG 3.1.3 Channel Soundbar, and it has transformed my living room into a cinematic oasis. This soundbar, model S80QY, brings a robust and immersive audio experience that rivals the theaters, all from the comfort of home.
Design and Setup
The sleek, black design of the soundbar and wireless subwoofer complements any modern decor, fitting unobtrusively under the TV or mounted on the wall. The setup was straightforward, thanks to the included HDMI cable and wall mount bracket, allowing me to get everything up and running quickly.
Audio Performance
With Dolby Atmos and DTS:X support, the soundbar delivers an enveloping sound that truly enhances every movie. The addition of upward-firing speakers creates a multi-dimensional soundscape that puts you right in the middle of the action. Whether it’s the subtle whispers in a drama or the dynamic explosions in an action film, the clarity and depth are impressive.
The wireless subwoofer deserves a special mention. It connects seamlessly with the soundbar and adds a rich, powerful bass that you can feel as well as hear. It's quite the experience to feel the rumble during intense scenes without any of the wires typically required for such powerful bass.
Smart Features
One of the standout features of this soundbar is its compatibility with multiple voice assistants through external devices, allowing me to control playback with simple voice commands via Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant. The built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity also mean I can stream music directly from my smartphone or tablet, enjoying high-resolution audio that’s crisp and detailed, thanks to the 96kHz sampling rate.
Connectivity
The HDMI eARC feature simplifies connecting to the TV with just one cable, maintaining the audio quality of advanced formats like Dolby Atmos. The lack of multiple HDMI inputs is noticeable but manageable with the eARC capability, allowing the soundbar to handle high-quality pass-through from connected devices.
Gaming and More
For gamers, the soundbar supports VRR and ALLM passthrough, ensuring minimal lag and enhanced frame rates, which is a nice touch for an immersive gaming session.
Final Thoughts
Overall, the LG S80QY soundbar offers a premium audio experience that enhances films, music, and games with its powerful sound and smart features. While the price point may be a consideration, the performance and quality justify the investment, making it a worthwhile addition to any home theater setup.

This soundbar delivers an immersive audio experience, enhancing everything from movies to music. The wireless subwoofer adds a cinematic punch, while features like Adaptive Sound Control optimize settings based on content.
Controlling the soundbar is a breeze with the user-friendly remote or the LG ThinQ app. Compatibility with voice assistants further elevates the convenience. In summary, for those seeking a compact, stylish, and high-performance audio solution, the LG Soundbar deserves a five-star rating.

I recently purchased this sound bar, and it has truly transformed my home entertainment experience. The sound quality is nothing short of spectacular, with crystal-clear audio that fills the room effortlessly. Whether I'm watching movies, playing video games, or just listening to music, the depth and richness of the sound make it feel like I’m right in the middle of the action.
One of the standout features is the surround sound capability. It creates an immersive audio environment that is perfect for movie nights or gaming sessions. The bass is powerful without being overwhelming, and the dialogue clarity is excellent, which is something I’ve found lacking in other sound bars.
The sleek and modern design is a great addition to my living room, blending in perfectly with my decor. It was also incredibly easy to set up, with intuitive controls and seamless connectivity to my TV and other devices. The remote is user-friendly, and I love the option to control everything through an app.
Overall, this sound bar has exceeded my expectations in every way. It's an excellent investment for anyone looking to upgrade their home audio system. I highly recommend it to audiophiles and casual listeners alike – you won’t be disappointed!

A substantial soundbar, suitable for most rooms

A fairly substantial soundbar that is certainly powerful enough for a small room, and seems to be sound-filling enough even for my 22’ x 40‘ living room. I don’t like a lot of bass, so the standard setting for the subwoofer is fine for me; though it’s easy enough to adjust up or down using the included Bluetooth remote. The medium-size subwoofer sits on the floor, behind the television & my AV table; and, so far, it seems that this location is working out fine.
During an in-store comparison of this 3.1.3 model to the higher-priced 5.1.2 model, I preferred this one due to its clear and slightly more mellow (to me) sound. And, it cost $400 less, anyway.
Turning on an ARC-equipped television will also switch on the connected HDMI soundbar. I bought an LG TV with the LG soundbar as a bundle; so, I no longer have to use separate remotes to turn on everything. A welcome feature.
However, unless this soundbar is going to be wall-mounted, its height (2-1/2” thick) is just bulky enough to interfere with the infrared sensor located at the base of my LG OLED screen. When the soundbar is placed in front of the television, it blocks the sensor! I could put it on a lower shelf of the AV table, but the soundbar has upward-firing Atmos speakers; so, placing it on a covered shelf in a cabinet would interfere with its sound — particularly, during Atmos-enabled movies. Although both the tv and sound bar remotes use Bluetooth —and don’t need line of sight — the cable box remote I also use is, unfortunately, INFRARED. It will not simultaneously turn on the cable box and the tv (and, subsequently, the soundbar, too!) — when I’m sitting on the couch — unless I lift the remote over my head and click! I could probably solve the problem by placing a 1”-2” riser under the television’s pedestal stand, to raise it up just enough to expose the infrared sensor and allow everything to work properly.
(Or, perhaps LG could just include an adjustable-height pedestal with every television, so that their own brand of LG soundbars wouldn’t block the infrared sensors of LG TVs, anymore!)
Fortunately, I can just use the LG television remote to (eventually) turn on all 3 devices. It takes 5 more seconds and a push of a second button on the LG remote to do it, though — compared to ONE PUSH using cable’s infrared remote control. If I could only aim — ju-uuust right — and hit the blocked sensor on the TV, I could save myself 5 seconds!

LG has upgraded and downgraded at the same time. I love the sound quality and the clarity of the S80QY don't get me wrong but there's some pros and cons. I have this paired with the SPQ8-S rear speakers. The build for the main unit and SPQ8-S is honestly not so great. I'm not sure why LG went backwards with the cloth material. The build for the subwoofer is awesome though. Set up is easy and simple using the App.
I generally keep it at Cinema Mode because the voice volume is a bit louder and clearer. The SPQ8-S kit adds way more sound and I love that they improved it because the previous version was low, even when turned up to 6. I have the new one set at 4 and its loud.
Music Mode is a bit better. Not much of a difference from the previous models. It's good but not compared to other sound bars.
Gaming Mode (new) - It actually works. There is a difference when playing FPS games. The sound of gunfire, bombs and background noise is spot on.
Connectivity - This is the biggest improvement from LG. The 60% more connectivity coverage helps a lot if you want to have your subwoofer or rear speaker modem in other places of the room. I haven't had any cut outs or drops. I placed them in different areas and nothing. There's flexibility of placement. Props to LG for making this improvement.
I like that there's more clarity and crisp to the dialogue but it's not good at low or mid volume. The voices are very well heard at 25 or more however when the sound effects come on the sound bar is blasting at you. I have to keep turning the volume up and down and that's kind of annoying. DRC and Night Mode doesn't work either. Those settings only compress the subwoofer and bass levels. The new Up Firing Center Channel doesn't add to the dialogue. I have it turned up to 6 and still not much of a difference. I have the Treb at (-2) and Bass at +2 for it not to sound hallow.
Clear Voice Mode - It honestly doesn't work when you think of Voice Enhancement. It just makes the unit sound more like a hallow echo box.
Atmos Upfiring Speakers - They work but when set to +3 or more. It's not convincing like the others. It's there but barely. When watching Atmos content it feels like the height sound is pushed to the back and not so much above.
Overall, the soundstage has definitely improved. You can hear when an object or voices transitions from one side of the room to the other. Watching action movies you can the little sound effects like gunfire, lasers, swords, bricks, punches, kicks, slaps, etc. which is cool but it still just a little better. One note, the new models aren't good unless you add the SPQ8-S kit. The rear speakers makes up for the immersive sound. I like the clarity and crisp it produces but for me this isn't an huge upgrade from what I've had before. My LG SN10YG 5.1.2 sounds very similar.
I mention this is another forum and got feedback that this is a home theatre product which isn't for met apartments. Yeah, I get that but the previous models didn't have this issue. The new models just don't have that balance.
I've previously owned many LG models and I never had to go up to 25. I usually had the volume between 15-20. The voices were way louder at low-mid volume and at times it did get a bit lost in the sound effects at high volumes but it was still better in opinion. Also to mention the previous models had 50 watt drivers and the new ones are 45 watt. I'm assuming this is to account for the new up-firing channel. I wish they kept the 50 watt center channel and the rest 45.
Sonos recently reprocessed the sound to the Arc which made it more balanced to where the dialogue was enhanced and the sound effects were a bit lower. Maybe if LG made a similar adjustment in a update then I'll consider keeping this sound bar. If not then I'm going to resell this unit. I'd rather keep my previous LG 5.1.2 w/ the SPK8-S considering I have recently moved my wifi router a further distance and don't have anymore cut outs, no complaints there.

Pros:
* Impressive soundstage: Dolby Atmos and DTS:X deliver truly immersive audio.
* Crisp dialogue: Center up-firing speaker ensures clear vocals.
* Powerful bass: Wireless subwoofer adds depth and rumble.
* Sleek design: Blends well with most TV setups.
* Easy setup and use: Intuitive interface and app control.
Cons:
* Could use more rear speakers: For the ultimate surround experience. I don't know where to get those rear speakers but I've heard that it's available
* AI Room Calibration is limited: Manual adjustments may be needed.
* Pricey: But comparable to other premium soundbars.
Overall:
The LG S80QY is a fantastic soundbar for those seeking immersive audio without a complex setup. It delivers powerful sound with clear dialogue, making movies and music come alive. While not perfect, it's a worthy upgrade for any home theater enthusiast.
If you hook it up with an HDMI ARC you will be blown away so much sound it comes from this thing this replaced my Bose soundbar in my living room if that explains anything

Needs Rear Speakers

If you get this one get the rear speakers! They're sold separately. I think there might be a model that comes with them but I actually got them cheaper buying separately with the sales at the time. Totally worth it though.
Sounds at least as good as my 3.1 setup with a stand alone receiver and floor standing speakers. But this takes up less space and I was able to mount it to the wall.
Deducted a star because the subwoofer keeps cutting out. I have heard it can be caused by interference if it's near a WiFi router which mine is. I'll have to move it to another corner (Nice thing about it being wireless).

good sound quality, I like that it links up with LG TV and that it will turn on and off with the TV remote and the TV remote volume turns it up and down (when using HDMI Cord). it took me a minute to follow the instructions and I think the actual remote to adjust the sounds could be a little better. you current have to press arrow buttons to turn on and off features. I'd rather they have dedicated buttons. but over all I'm pleased.

Great sound and bass for small to medium rooms. It has a variety of setting you can alter to fit your liking. It supports dolby atmos. It also has an option to add two wireless speakers for an even more immersed feeling. The deep sounds vary depending on whether its digital bass or not. Other than that its a solid sound.

Got this soundbar on a whim because the store I was in (Spokane Valley, WA) had a screaming deal on it in Open-Box status. My old soundbar and sub-woofer are at least five years old and this LG is a significant upgrade. It pairs well with my LG smart TV and the sound combined with the subwoofer is great. I don't know if I would purchase it at full price, but at open-box or sale prices, it is a great option.

I got this sound bar at about 50% off. Now I would say that it is worth it at 50% off but not at list price. It is a good soundbar your average person but if you want something with a bit more sound, quality, and more mid tones, either get a better sound bar or invest in a receiver and speakers. The plus to this sound bar is how easy it is to setup, the surround and height speakers are very good and the on board equalizer is nice. Also the subwoofer is a very good for the price. I would recommend for anyone that is more on a budget or has a small room that you watch everyday TV on.

I purchased this LG 3.1.3 Channel Soundbar as an open-box deal, and I couldn’t be happier! It looked brand new, and the performance is absolutely top-notch. The Dolby Atmos and DTS:X create an immersive, theater-like experience with crystal-clear dialogue, rich mids, and deep bass.
The wireless subwoofer delivers powerful, room-filling bass, and the up-firing center channel ensures vocals are crisp and well-balanced. Setup was a breeze—just plug in, connect via Bluetooth or HDMI eARC, and enjoy. It syncs perfectly with my LG TV, making the experience even more seamless.
For an open-box purchase, this was an amazing value, and it performs just as well as a brand-new unit. If you're looking for premium sound, deep bass, and immersive audio at a great price, this soundbar is a must-buy!
