Sounded good while it lasted
||Posted . Owned for 1.5 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The music sounded a little "tinny" at first, but we attributed that to the size of it's speakers and their placement near the ceiling. We got used to it since other systems of the same size sounded similar. Overall, we're quite disappointed by this radio. It has a 1 year warranty, but after 15 months, the unit stopped working. It just died overnight and now won't do anything. 1 year warranty has expired, so it basically cost us $10 per month to listen to a radio in our kitchen.

Bass to Spare & 300 Watts at Very Reasonable Price
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Ck43 Hi-Fi Shelf system pumps out amazing bass, enough to please the whole party, for a reasonable price. System has plenty of options for connecting with your music with Bluetooth, CD, Dual USB, LG TV Sync, Aux, and FM Radio integration. Impressive. You have control over the music with an Auto DJ, USB Recording, LG Sound Sync, Music Flow Bluetooth, and a Digital Equalizer. Tested the Bass on the Ck43 and compared it to a high-end Bluetooth system and the Ck43 went down to 20hz while the other system’s bass bottomed out at 45Hz. If you like Bass, you will find this unit delivers. Was looking forward to the ability to pair with my LG TV via LG Sound Sync/Bluetooth and use the system as a sound bar replacement. The good, the system easily pairs up, but the sound is not what I was looking for with my TV. Keep in mind that sound is very subjective. What is really pleasing was that between the LG TV, the CK43 and my Direct TV there are three controllers and you only needed one controller to rule the system. Very nice to use the Direct TV controller to control the volume of the sound system and the first time have ever had that control. Kudos to LG! Treble is not hitting the high notes for me and has no direct way to adjust other than choosing from various pre-sets. The back of the speakers is unfinished pressboard, not aesthetically pleasing. If you are looking for a Rockin’ Bass kicking machine at a very reasonable price the Ck43 Hi-Fi Shelf System may very well fit your needs and double as a decent LG synced TV sound system.

Stopped working
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.About six weeks after purchasing the stereo, it merely stopped working. It will not power on at all. It's too late to return it and I didn't sign up for the protection plan.

Nice Little System
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.SOUND I did not realize that this system did not come with a separate subwoofer until I opened the box and took it out. I then did not expect much sound of it. I am a bass head, so separate subs are always a must. BUT, this system still delivered a good sound, bass included. I was highly impressed. Obviously a separate sub would produce my type of bass, but this did not disappoint at all. I have actually been enjoying listening to it, so far daily. The overall sound is nice. This is a mini-system, so I did not expect real equalizer control. You can choose a type of sound (i.e., jazz, football, etc.). There is a "bass" option in that choice as well. But there is also a separate "bass" button which does the same thing. That part is confusing because I kept pushing the bass button and the screen would just say "Bass;" no off or on, so I just said, "okay." You can also choose a type of sound based on region of music (i.e., Latin). CONNECTIONS There are multiple functions - CD (yes, it has CD function. I still have CDs), Bluetooth, FM radio (I did not see where AM is possible; maybe someone else found it), AUX, USB (2 inputs). CD - a tray that open and closes. It is very quiet. Thank you for CD capabilities! Bluetooth - it starts right away. It works well. This system claims you can connect 3 Bluetooth devices simultaneously. Well I would have loved to test it, but it can only be done with Android phones. I have an android phone, but that is just 1 device. I tried to simultaneously connect with my iPod touch but it did not work. However, separately connected, both my phone and iPod worked fine. AUX - so I thought I was going to test this function with my AUX cord and iPod classic (via its headphone jack). Nope, not that kind of AUX; it doesn't even fit. This requires the red/white AUX cable. USB - 2 inputs. However, it wants a type of drive (i.e., thumb drive, external hard drive). I tried to connect my iPod classic, iPod touch and Android phone using their respective USB cables. No go. I just get an error message. That is too bad. DESIGN I do not like the placement of the buttons. I figure they had to do this because of the size. I especially do not like the "knobs." I put knobs in quotes because those things are too big to be knobs. You can turn those like a dial in order to adjust volume (right knob) or to search USB folders and EQ options (left knob). There was no need for them to be that big. I should have taken another star off for that, but then that would only give it 3 stars and I do feel the whole system deserves 4. Plus, I will never use those "knobs." Other than that, it looks really good. For my current needs, I prefer its smaller form than a fuller sized system. OTHER LCD screen - just shows you what function you are on or what you are doing. You can push "clock" and see the time (after you set it). You can dim the LCD screen. Sleep Timer - it has one. You can set the amount of time. Music Flow Bluetooth app - I was able to install and use the app. I only tried it with the Bluetooth function. It worked and I was able to cue music. Know that you have to have an Android. But you are not missing anything by not being able to use the app, so... It is funny that the online manual (p.24) says that there are some differences between the app control and the supplied remote control. "Use the supplied remote as necessary." REALLY? The app is super basic. You NEED the remote for just about everything except function, song choice, volume and that's all I remember. Remote Control - the remote has everything and yet it is not too big (at least not to me). You can FULLY function the system with the remote. Also, the remote has numbers on it (0-9). Thank you. The power can be off on the system and you can just start Bluetooth playing from your device without powering on the system. It was super easy to set radio stations. Disregard any comment above where I stated "this is not why I took away a star." Rather, put all my negatives/cons together and because of all of them, I removed 1 star. I DO still think the system deserves 4 stars. I like it and would recommend it, but like any product, make sure it does what YOU want it and expect it to do. Peace.

Lots of boom for the buck
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We finally had enough of the old Emerson shelf stereo at our shop. The thing had an analog dial so it drifted off the station frequencies badly. We replaced it with this LG unit a week ago and man o man what a huge difference. We have two large home speakers in another part of our shop and this LG drives them using an inline amplifier plus its own speakers with no problem at all. The rich sound from all four speakers is very impressive. I plugged my mp3 stick into a USB port and was instantly enjoying my favorite music. The equalizer presets make it a snap for various music genres. Bluetooth connection is a nice feature for streaming the I heart radio app. The instruction manual doesn't explain the operation in detail but its not difficult to figure out. The price of this stereo is well worth it.

Powerful System - Heavy on the Bass
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This system is the perfect thing for a house party or an outdoor get together. It packs a serious punch that leaves the sounds bellowing through your walls but leaves something to be desired in the highs and mids. After cranking this thing on full blast - with the permission of the people who live underneath me, i realized that this thing blasts a lot of bass out of it when it is running full blast. I felt as though it did not achieve the mids and highs I would look for in a sound system but for the price point it is the perfect setup for your teenager or a college frat or even a family get together sound system.

Decent Shelf Stereo System For Price
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So far the system seems and sounds good. Surprised it put out 150W per speaker channel for such a small system. Not sure excited about the EQ and Sound Effect choices and what they really represent. Will need to read owner manual more. Guess need something for EQ since don't have manual control like a high end system. Have not tried playing MP3 files. Heard some say music skips in this mode. I will have to try it. Had a Philips Magnavox shelf stereo system for 15+ years before a speaker channel gave out. It put out 50w per speaker channel. Had good volume. May have had volume to high many times and near speaker channel max output power levels. This probably did not help. Should not have that issue with this system. May have given this system a higher rating but the remote distance is not great. Read only goes to 23 Ft and that's kind of what I have been experiencing. Have big open room concept and sometimes way on other side. Philips gave me much more distance with is remote.

Absolutely the best for a very reasonable price
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have had this radio for a week now, I use it in my computer room that is small so I didn't want a large system, and I just can't beleive the quality of this system for the price, I love it, sound great and the remote works just like it should, don't know how it could ever get any bad reviews, highly recommend...

Sounds Great.......BUTTTTT!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So this little thing rocks my 30x40 shop building. Sound quality is good, adjustability is there, and I guess it looks good doing it. BUT! the one thing I can't stand about this thing is, when in Mix/Random/Shuffle mode it cuts off the last 20 or 30 seconds of EVERY song just to "seamlessly" transfer to the next. Which is a feature I find terribly annoying, even though I've managed to get used to it. I could understand this feature if I were an Nightclub DJ, But I'm NOT! I just wanna hear my favorite songs in their entirety, But not with this unit.

Phenomenal sound quality
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I just wanted a mini shelf system to pair to my iPhone and Mac via bluetooth so I can move around in my man cave and not be limited by wires. For reference I listen to rock and the guitar and bass, the highs and lows are just so clear. It has multiple usb inputs for recording if you're into that. My only qualm is that the speakers are larger than I expected for a "mini" shelf system, but with the sound quality they produce I'm good with it.

Lousy CD Player
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought one of these because its size was perfect for my small apartment. Within one month, the CD player suddenly got very loud and then stopped playing CD's. I returned the unit for a replacement. Less than three weeks later, the SAME issue - faulty CD player. This time I returned it for a refund and ordered a different stereo. This is the first LG product I've been disappointed in.

CD player doesn't work!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I brought this home, hooked it up but only tested the speakers and the radio at that time. Tonight, put in a CD and the CD player won't read the CD..tried 3 other CD's "Disc error". Unbelievable. So now I'll have to repackage and take back to the store. I see others had problems with their CD's not working....read those reviews a little too late.
