A must have
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The washer works really well as long as there is nothing stopping the agitator. It has a balancing feature and the machine will not work if it's not balanced. If you wash whites you must wash them on the white cycle or your whites do not come clean at all. Machine is very quiet. It also has a delay wash cycle which I love. And it sings a song when it finish washing.

Excellant washer
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Consumer Reports #1 best buy HE washer. Owned it for six weeks and we love it. Purchased the matching LG gas dryer DL G1102W and it works great. Both my wife and I love doing the washing with it. Purchased the five year warranty with Best Buy for both items.

Great top load washer.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This washer has good features as the soap and softener dispenser. Good selection of cycles, spins clothes well. Nice looking design. Neat glass in lid for viewing. The thing that I really like is it runs so quiet.

So far so good but color doesn't match
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this washer and recieved a week ago. So far so good. However, when we got it, we noticed the color didn't match the dryer. The washer was white and the dryer is more of an egg shell color. Best buy was really easy to work with and ordered two new units to be brought out so we could find a match. Unfortunately, the new dryer was even more off color. So we ended up settling by keeping what we had. Not happy that we spent this much on a washer dryer and they don't match. But good to know that Best Buy will do what they can for me and didn't once question the issue even though they said they never heard of it before. I'm sure they'll be dealing with this headache a lot now. I'm assuming LG is assembling parts from different manufacturers that are using different colors.

So disappointed- User ERROR
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had read SO many reviews before buying this washer in April 2015 and was so excited to get this but I was nervous because of the uneven load/user errors that everyone talked about. I thought, well, it can't be that bad compared to all of the other positive things people are saying about it. But first, step back and think to yourself, why do I need a washing machine? The answer is clear, to wash clothes quickly and efficiently. Well, this washer does not do that without babysitting. I work full time and I have a three year old so I have enough things to do besides BABYSIT my washing machine! Long gone are the days where I can put a load of laundry in the washer and go out and play and come back in and the load is complete. I am SO disappointed that I purchased this washing machine and now I'm stuck with it for who knows how long. I have only had maybe 8 loads go through without error in the past 5 months. I miss my front loader so much, I didn't buy another front loader because of the mold around the rubber issue... but at least it NEVER had issues washing my clothes. Now to avoid the mold around the rubber I know to just leave the door open after each wash to dry. I am a very easy customer to please but this washer just disappoints :( My husband HATES it too. Trust me, every time we hear the user error beeping, I get an earful from him as well. Save yourself some much needed time and do not buy this washing machine.

Great high end washer at a reasonable price
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This washer has the performance and features of other much higher priced washers for a fraction of the price. I read several reviews that mentioned this washer will easily become unbalanced. I have only had this happen once and I've been using this washer for about a month. It was probably also my own fault for over stuffing it with bedding. Overall a great buy and I would recommend it to anyone.

Great Machine
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This washer is great, we have a family of 2 adults, 4 kids, and a bulldog and our clothes have never looked better. The large capacity and no agitator the machine holds so much more clothes. The clothes come out of the washer dryer than our old GE which served us well. This makes drying clothes take less time and less stress on the dryer. No problems with balancing as mentioned in other reviews, delivery was courteous and quick. I would strongly reccomend reading the instructions beforehand.

Works best for VERY SMALL loads (for HE rating)
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.UPDATE: I returned my LG Wt1101 and am returning to a conventional washer with a central agitator. The fact that this huge washer is DESIGNED for small loads and has no effective setting for more typical medium-sized loads was central to my decision (see technician advice, below). The first thing I did with my new machine was to re-wash many of the clothes I'd done with this LG HE washer because they reeked of soap and fabric softener. ORIGINAL POST I've had this washer for two weeks and am still deciding whether to keep it. My complaint, like many other people, is that the water level is so low that clothes are not pulled down into the wash water. After an hour on the phone with a LG technician, I learned this: the different cycles are designed to use different amounts of water. Ignore the given names (e.g. Cotton, Heavy Duty) and think of the cycles in terms water levels. He said that two cycles, Cotton/Normal and Heavy Duty, are designed to add water only up to 1" above the silver knob in the center bottom of the tub. That equals 5" of water measured from the deepest pockets in the bottom of the tub, but an average of only 4" throughout most of the tub. If you put in more clothes than this, the clothes on top might not get pulled into the water. I put in six long-sleeved t-shirts and the top one did not get pulled down into the water in the Cotton/Normal cycle. Apparently this [stupid] design helps LG qualify for the low water/high efficiency rating on this machine. It would take 54 minutes to wash those six shirts. Two other cycles, Bright Whites and Pure Color, are designed to add a bit more water. I measured it as 2" from the top of the silver knob and 6" from the deepest pockets in the bottom of the tub, averaging about 5" deep throughout the tub. In addition to the six long-sleeved t-shirts, there was enough water to add three lightweight sweat shirts using the Bright Whites cycle. Together, this load was smaller than what I could do in my old-fashioned 2.4 cubic foot washer with a central agitator. The was cycle was longer than an hour. One cycle, Bulky Items, is designed to fill the tub and it does. It works well for large loads. The technician recommended always using small loads and selecting Bright Whites, or using very large loads and selecting Bulky Items, and then manually setting the water temperature, agitation, and spin speed to create the wash I want. There are buttons for water temperature and spin speed; the Soil Level button sets the agitation (more "soil" adds more time and uses a stronger agitation; it does not add more water like I thought). There is no easy way to wash a medium-sized load on this machine because the cycles provide too little or too much water. He also said it's important to use the Fabric Softener button if softener is used in the Cotton/Normal or Heavy Duty cycle (the manual also mentions this). In those cycles, the default setting uses a spray rinse that will not remove fabric softener from the clothes. Again, this is a trick to reduce water consumption in order to qualify for ratings; it does not provide an effective rinse. By pressing the Fabric Softener button, you override that default and the rinse will "fill" the tub with water in normal rinse fashion. Apparently the other cycles always "fill" the tub during rinse so the Fabric Softener button is not needed for them. The last thing he said is that the Load Sensing period that occurs before the wash begins is simply an attempt to distribute the clothes evenly; it has nothing to do with judging the weight of the load or assessing how much water will be required. By the way, I've washed some heavy items and have never encountered the unbalanced load problem that others report. I think the trick is to load the clothes as if there were a central agitator in the middle, spreading items around the edges of the tub. So the bottom line is this: this huge capacity washer works best for very small or very large loads, and the "smart" specialty cycles need to be overridden for almost every load of laundry. I'll try a few more loads now that I have this information but I'm not pleased. One last word of advice: the washer does not have a way to filter and remove lint or dog hair from the water. I washed a load of dog bedding and then, as I explored this topic of water level, I ran several loads of just water (no clothes) to see how much water entered the tub. Even after filling, spinning, and draining several cycles of water, there still was dog hair floating in the water. The only way to remove it seems to be doing another load of laundry and having it stick to clothes, and then being removed by the dryer. The matching dryer, however, is great at removing lint and dog hair as the clothes tumble dry.

Stay Away From This Machine!!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Purchased in April 2014. Starting in late September 2015 I began to get UE error code. This is for uneven or unbalanced loads. I would have to manually adjust the load in order for the machine to continue with the cycle. After two weeks, each load would take about three hours to complete. Finally, I got an OE error code, which is for pinched or clogged drain hose. I replaced the drain hose and even checked the internal drain hoses for clogs. They were fine. Machine still would not work and displayed OE error. I called LG for assistance and they told me they no longer use the SmartDiagnosis to check for problems. They gave me the numbers of two authorized service companies. Both were hours away from me and refused to help. I called Best Buy and they sent a Geek Squad tech to diagnose the problem. After doing some tests I was told I have an older software version on the machine and in order to update it, I would have to replace the control board. That being said, the tech wasn't sure if that was the problem. He said it could be the drain pump. His suggestion was to buy a new machine or call LG and complain. I called LG and they couldn't care less.

Perfect HE washer for the money
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I LOVE this washer and dryer set. They are so quiet while running, and they play a little song when the cycle is done. I can normally get all of my laundry done in just 2 loads- this thing is so big!! I can fit an oversized king comforter in it! I think my favorite part is that the buttons are on the front, so I can have a shelf over the top! Great washer and great price!

Not Worth the Stress
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is an incredible piece of junk. We've had it for just over a year, and the problem has gotten gradually worse. And it was bad from the start. The machine can't maintain a balance. There's no agitator, so it uses water as ballast, which sounds good, but they don't have the technology down at LG. The problem usually happens in the spin cycle. The machine reads UE, or uneven, and returns to rinse cycle and fills with water again, only to return to spin and then back to rinse. Theoretically, one is supposed to be able to balance the load manually, but that doesn't tend to fix the problem. And it wastes time. I've sat at the machine for oceans of time trying to get a load of laundry done, stopping it right before it starts filling up again! Eventually, the machine gives up and stops. Lol. This energy efficient model is in fact a great electricity and water (and time) waster. I read the reviews, including some at Amazon, but I thought the problem wouldn't apply to me. Lol. I don't know what to think of the reviews at BestBuy, now. They probably won't approve this review, but it's worth a shot. (I read one review at Amazon in which the person said they returned this machine model twice due to the problem, then bought a different brand, returned that and purchased a third one of these, from LOWES, which was willing to keep replacing the model. At any rate, they said they finally got a good one. Maybe you'll be lucky, too.) Anyway, please trust me on this. Do. Not. Purchase.

Excellent machine
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This washing machine is perfect. Very easy to choose a cycle and all of the options. While washing it is extremely quiet, mine is on the 3rd level of a townhouse and I don't even hear it outside of the laundry room. I had a Whirlpool front-loading machine before and you could hear it on the 1st floor. The clothes come out very clean and even with the medium spin cycle option, they are almost dry when the load finishes. For the price, you can't beat this washer.

washer is great but....
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had this washer exactly two years when the drain motor along with the main control board stopped working. And of course my two year extended warranty expired last month. When the washer worked it was a great machine, not sure if I will get another.

great for the price
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Had this unit for a few days now. washes great and does everything for you down to picking the temp of water. all you have to do is click the buttons. if you are short it is hard to get clothes out but I found reaching from the side works better. great unit thank you LG. hopefully it will last. will let you know later if anything messes up.

Sleek look, but still easy enough to operate!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I recently purchased this washer to replace a decade old LG front loader. Though we had plenty of issues with the old washer towards its end, I wasn't turned off by LG since the washer was used hardily (three families at one point, sometimes running loads EVERY single day!) for the good 10 years we had it. So I felt confident in purchasing another LG washer. Cue this model. I have always preferred the top loader style, but enjoyed the energy and water efficiency of front loaders. I was able to have my cake and eat it too with this model! Though at first all the buttons may be off putting, it's simple enough to operate. No more difficult than my old washer. It's definitely quiet and lives up to its claim of having an antivibration feature. Let's talk about the size of the actual drum! It's HUGE! I was able to fit a queen sized comforter, fitted sheet, and four pillow cases with room to spare. Problem with the gigantic drum is how deep it is set into the washer. I am 5'2" so I am literally on my tip toes when reaching to grab the last few garments at the bottom of the drum. Not a deal breaker though. My clothes are also drying more quickly. With our old washer, after loads finished their last spin cycle, they'd take about 50 or so minutes in the dryer. This new washer spins clothes more efficiently which has shaved off a good 10-15 minutes from the time my loads spend in the dryer. I do have a con here unfortunately. My clothes are not coming out smelling like laundry soap or fabric softener. A shame since there's nothing better than opening a warm dryer and having the scent of clean clothes wafting through the house. I am not sure if it's because this model rinses so well that fragrances are rinsed off? The clothes are clean and feel clean, they just don't have that freshness in smell about them. All in all, it's a solid unit and I'd easily recommend it to anybody in the market for a washer and not wanting to spend an arm and a leg!

Beats front loaders HANDS DOWN!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had bought a Maytag front loader 6 years ago. I constantly had problems with mold in my towels. I tried everything! Finally, after finding black mold hidden around where the detergent goes, I decided it was time for a new machine. After reading many reviews of lots of washers and then checking out consumer reports I decided to buy this machine. I am SO glad I did. With front loaders you have to keep the door open to make sure the washer gets dry. They are very hard to clean. With this machine you can leave the top open and it drys. No problem with mold! There is even a cleaning cycle. I find it washes my clothes great. I even washed a bulky mattress pad and it came out beautiful. I did notice it held a little bit more water than the old front loader, but to me, it was clean and fresh. It does not use much detergent either. There are setting for whites, brights and heavy soiled. It helps take the guess work out of what to choose. I had read other reviews where they said the water level did not fill enough, but I have not found that to be my experience. I love how the top is clear and you can watch as your clothes are being washed. I find the machine VERY quiet. I think the quality is excellent. The clincher was at the end of the wash not a buzz but a sweet little tune. I also realized you don't have to spend a 1,000 dollars to get a good washer. This one at 629.00 is an excellent value. I highly recommend it!

Six month of great washing...
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great product. We've had it for six months and not a problem at all. We are careful to check pockets, etc. I heave heard that most HE top loaders have pumps that can be damaged by things like coins, etc... Not sure it's really an issue (or something I need to worry about on this model) but we're careful anyway. Custom wash modes is handy. Several load type options, temperature options, etc... Best Buy delivery guy was supposed to send me a small bottle of touch up paint; as he scratched the front of our while hooking it up. (deep scratches, ... can see metal.) Never received it... Not real happy about that.... But that's not a product fault (other than that there's no more baked enamel finishes on washers and driers... :-( ) So I won't let that effect the rest of my review.

NEEDED QUALITY ON A BUDGET
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I PURCHASED THIS AFTER MY MAYTAG WASHER KEPT BREAKING. I had so many issues with my Frigidaire Affinity front loaders that I wasn't even in the market for a front loading washer. The price on these are great and I feel they are sturdy. Very quiet and clean well.
