Nice washing machine
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Lots of features and settings; stainless steel drum is nice. If you get an unbalanced load error then reduce spin speed; this seems to be a common complaint although I rarely encounter issues.

Biggest piece of junk on the market!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.DO NOT, i REPEAT DO NOT buy this washing machine! I have had nothing but trouble with this since I bought it less than 3 years ago. There are several problems with it, the biggest and most frustrating being the UE code that you will most surely get. This means Uneven Balance, and the washing machine will attempt to fix itself 3 times by adding more water. If I start a load of wash in the morning, it has shut itself off when I come home at 5:00, at which point I must reach in and try to redistribute the clothes and start over. This can go on all day! The idiots at LG told me that I should be washing separate loads, meaning a load of shirts, a load of pants or.... are you ready for this one??? A LOAD OF UNDERPANTS! Who has enough dirty underpants laying around to justify a full load of wash????? And, this is supposed to be an extra large capacity machine to boot! After receiving poor and inconsistent service from LG, I have decided to put this piece of junk out on my front lawn and hope that someone will haul it away for me. I almost feel bad for anyone that takes it! I hope this review helps someone who is thinking about buying this horrible machine, as I am not alone in my frustration. There are many poor reviews out there. I suggest you read them. Best of luck!

Early machine failure
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this washer in September, 2013 after reading good reviews. My husband and I are retired and travel frequently, so the washer gets light use. I was very pleased with the performance and features of the machine. In January, 2014 after washing less than 50 loads, the machine would not drain and showed an OE error message, which indicates a problem with the drain hose. We verified that the drain lines were not obstructed. None of the control buttons would work, including the power button. After consulting with LG Customer Service and being unable to re-set the machine, we had a service call by a repairman. He determined that the main control board had failed and replaced it. Two days later, the machine works but time will tell. Concerned that this will fail again when warranty is no longer in effect.

great, great, great!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've only had this machine for a couple of days, but so far it has been wonderful. The drum size is huge! My old machine had been down for over a week when I got this one and I was able to catch up on my laundry in one evening - for a family of 5! And it is so quiet - don't even know it's on except for the fact it plays a fun little tune when it's done! Love it!

Great for large families!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We purchased a new front load 2 years ago and then ended up moving and left washer behind. New home needed a washer and I was set to buy another front loader until I saw this one. The drum size is amazing! With three young kids and a husband in construction our laundry pile is filled with dried mud, dirt, school stains and germs ect. this washer takes it with no fuss. Clothes come out clean and drying time is shorter! The wash cycles are perfect. Not to many but practical ones. And after owning a front loader and the mold smell and growth on the rubber seal. This wash will never have this problem. And at the end of the wash cycle it sings a little tune to let you know it has finished its job!

Stay Away!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.LG washers that have the "True Balance" feature are a joke. I have had my washer for about a year and my frustration level is off the charts! The "True Balance" feature forces you to constantly re-adjust the load because it becomes unbalanced. There are times is has taken over 2 hours to finish a load because of the need to constantly re-adjust the load. I gave it 2 stars only because it does a good job of washing but would NEVER buy this machine again.

Amazing Machine
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Our previous was a front load washer in which we thought was a good machine. This machine blows away our previous machine. It has a large tub that senses balance (out of balance is an annoyance for us) before it cycles through the preprogramed settings. It is quiet! Clothes are clean. What more can you want?

So far so good.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this because it was the only large capacity top load washer I saw that had enough good reviews. It replaced my 10+ year old G.E. that finally self destructed. Reviews for washers similar to my old one were horrible. This was about the only top load that had mostly good reviews (for the money I was "somewhat willing" to spend). So far this L.G. has been great. I've put as many as three full sized blankets in a single load and it has had no trouble balancing the load and they came out clean. Normal laundry has not been a problem either. It seems to balance everything just fine and it doesn't vibrate any more on the spin cycle than my old machine did. It is considerably quieter overall than my old machine was when it was new. I was skeptical about the whole "high efficiency" thing but I guess it works. You do need to make an effort to distribute the laundry evenly when you load it but I did that anyway so no big deal there. Something else I do is remove the detergent / fabric softener tray after I'm done and dump any water out and then leave the tray and the washer lid open for at least a day to help prevent mold. All in all, if it continues to perform as it has so far, I'll be happy with it. Guess I need the matching high capacity dryer to before I can reap the time saving benefits of a high capacity washer. Just can't quite figure out why the dryer is exactly the same price as the washer.

Failed 5 months after 1 year warranty expired
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Overall this is a decent washing machine and has been fine until it wouldn't drain water anymore, and after troubleshooting found that the main control board was bad. Unfortunately it only has a 1 year warranty and a replacement control board had to be purchased for $145 shipped from an online parts supplier. This is my 1st time an extended warranty plan would've helped, although the cheapest plan is $79.99. Luckily I didn't have to pay additional charges for an appliance repair tech since I was able to do the work myself. But I can't recommend this machine since it failed too quickly and hopefully the new control board will last much longer.

Awesome washer
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I like this washer. It washes great. The only thing I don't like is, when it balances, it uses a lot of water to do it. My water bill has gone up as compared to my previous front loader, so I can't say it's a great water saver. I've been a front loader person since 2002, but thought I would try this HE top loader. The spinning action is excellent!! Cuts way down on drying time. The washing cycles are very long also, compared to my previous front loader. Will continue to use this washer for now, but in the future will probably go back to a front loader. This washer doesn't disappoint though. It does what it's supposed to do, it just uses more water than I expected.

Do NOT buy!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have had this washer for 18 months. It worked perfectly for the first year but now 90% of the time it gets an "UE" (unbalanced error) before finishing the spinning cycle. This causes that the washing machine refills with water again 2 or 3 times to get the load "rebalanced", wasting huge amounts of water and time. Sometimes it would not get rebalanced no matter what's done, and the only solution is to put the clothes completely soaked in the dryer. After doing a Google search and reading reviews from other buyers, I noticed that a lot of people is having the same issue with this unit. There's also an article written about this machine in consumer reports mentioning the same problem. LG won't repair or do anything if outside the 1 year warranty and with the cost of fixing out of warranty it's better to just get a new one and assume a loss on this unit. I'm now looking at replacing it and will not be another LG for sure. Complete waste of money. Buy only if you want a disposable washer.

Waste of energy and time
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This washing machine had great reviews and even consumer reports rated it highly, however, the machine I bought is inefficient, a water hog, and time consuming. It is easily unbalanced which causes it to refill with water over and over. If you are using a hot water wash it is total waste of energy. On a normal cycle the machine indicates that it will take 57 minutes to complete, but after numerous fills and refills and stops to get human involvement to correct an unbalanced load, it will sometimes take in excess of 2 hours to complete a wash. When it does run properly the clothes are not always clean. It seems like there is not enough water for there are sometimes soap spots on the clothes. To avoid getting soap spots you need to use a liquid detergent, but the mechanism to release liquid detergent is poorly designed and a lot of the liquid is left in the discharge area. I have contacted LG concerning my concerns twice now and have not received a response. I heard others were having the same problems and LG had to send a technician out to reprogram the circuits, but I still am waiting for LG to respond to my concerns. If I had known this beforehand I would not have purchased the machine.

Love this washer!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This washer is awesome! I'm so glad that I had a leak in my other washer so that I even considered a new one. This LG is going to save me a ton since it gets so much water out of the clothes; as a result, my dryer is working much shorter to dry my clothes which saves me money. Also, this washer loads only enough water to wash the load; you don't have to set the water level - it senses the amount of clothes that you have in the washer. I'm using a lot less detergent because it uses the high efficiency detergent and when I use Downey, it really smells like Downey has been infused in my clothes. I'm definitely going to look at the LG dryer in another year or so. Love the end of the wash music tone!

Do not Buy
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Terrible Machine. No matter how much time you put into trying to separate your clothes and not making the load to large or too small, you will get a UE error for an unbalanced load. The washer then refills the washer and completely rewashes it. Which defeats the energy efficiency of the washer. Of course, the rewash never works and it still pauses before the spin cycle with a UE error. You are then left with dripping wet clothes. Takes 3 times the normal time to wash clothes, you must stand over the machine to pause it before it refilles with water, and you have to dry with double the time because it doesn't ring out clothes well.

Unbalance errors virtually every load
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I hate posting a completely negative review, but I'm hoping to save someone the expensive mistake I made. This is the worst washer I have ever used. Wash cycles are a bit long, which I could live with, but virtually every load results in a balance error. Almost every load fails because the washer refuses to finish spin cycle due to UE (unbalance error). Experienced this problem early on and LG sent a tech out to replace some parts. This helped, but didn't eliminate the problem. It went from about a 90% failure rate to more like 20%. Another year and a half later and it's back to 90% failures due to EU errors. There are good features to this washer, but I'm not going to bother mentioning them since the washer performs so horribly that the good features don't matter. This was my first and last LG purchase.

Are top loaders supposed to be a joke?
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'm serious here. I purchased this LG top loader a couple of weeks ago, and after using for one weekend of laundry for family of 4 realized I need to go back to the front loader design. Below are my concerns, you be the judge: 1) Compared to front loader, this machine wastes an obscene amount of water. Nowhere is the actual water consumption listed (I get it, different cycles, load sizes, etc use different quantities of water), but I've owned fishtanks, and I guarantee that EACH wash spin cycle filled that tub w/ at least 20G. Someone, anyone, please explain to me how this level of water usage is efficient and/or an improvement over front loaders? 2) The act of "swishing" the clothes gently back and forth via fancy twisting of the stainless steel drum and bottom is NOT the same as tumbling your clothes in a front loader. I watched a load of shirts for 20 min during wash cycle, and although all clothes were submerged, clothes on top never moved to the bottom where they may have had a chance to be "agitated". Again, someone, anyone explain to me how this design is an improvement over a front loader? My old front loader always washed clothing to my satisfaction and never wore out t-shirts, undergarments, etc. 3) My wife is 5"2' and cannot reach the bottom of the tub to pick up the last pieces of washed clothing. If you're 5"2' or shorter, expect to keep a pair of tongs handy. Obviously never a problem with front loader. 4) Related to #1, when one of my loads became unbalanced during spin cycle, the washer proceeded to drain the tub, refill with water, and then swish the towels around a little in hopes of re balancing the load. A complete waste of water. This is never a concern with a front loader. In summary, This washer is a design that literally never should have gotten out of the drawing room. LG, I know you also make front loaders, so please do not take this as an attack on your company, just this style of washer. Had I known the above info prior to trying this new style of washer, I certainly would've stuck with a front loader and avoided the hassle of returning/exchanging this LG model. Anyone considering switching to a top loader needs to seriously consider the above info prior to purchase. And yes, I am a real customer who really tried out this washer in my home. If you have any quesiton for me just leave a comment and I'll try to repost with an answer. BTW, kudos the the entire team @ BB who understood my concerns and have worked with me to purchase a front loader in exchange for this top loader washer.
