Keep your old washer

Have had this washer for a year, but have only been using it full time since Aug. The washer doesn't clean well. For two adults' everyday clothes (I.e., not very dirty), I have to either use the extra dirty cycle (90 min) or add a soak (over an hour), just to get things clean. And that's only when I have a full load. If I try to wash a few items, the cycle is never ending because the machine simply cannot finish without going put of balance multiple times. And the worst thing about it going out of balance is that the washer keeps filling and spinning and going out of balance over and over in an attempt to solve the problem itself. What a waste of water! Multiple times, I've give up and pulled soaking wet stuff out of the washer and hung it to drip dry. Bottom-line, my 10 yr old washer with agitator cleaned better - if your old washer is still working, keep it, don't be seduced by the pretty new machines!

Balance issue

This washer has a horrible balance issue. When lg came to repair they wondered if this was a floor model because it had old codes. I did not buy floor model. Found out it is a 2013 model sold to me in 2015 by bestbuy. Will not buy another appliance from bestbuy.

I had to replace a 2 year old Whirlpool washer (garbage) so I did my homework and read reviews. I decided on this LG washer and I am sooooo glad I did. Compared to my old washer, this one is so quiet that I had to go check if it was actually on and running. It doesn't have a multitude of settings, but, honestly, I couldn't care less. It has the cycles that I need and it gets my clothes clean. The only "problem" I could find is that the tub is very deep so if you are short like me (5'4) then you may have to stand on tip toes to reach the bottom of the tub. End of cycle signal is a quiet little jingle and not an obnoxious buzzing. All in all, a great buy! I have found my new favorite brand~ LG!

Wish I would have never bought this washer

I purchased this washer & dryer set April/May of 2014. Since then I have had so many issues with this washer. It never balances it self out correctly. I have to keep an eye to make sure it is going through the cycles correctly. There is always an error message UE regardless of how many clothes or how less there is in the washer. I have called customer service and they say that the load isn't balanced and I should take some items out or add items, when I have a regular size load. I was told that this is normal and just manually balance out the load. When this is a self balance washer. It will add more water to try to balance out the load, not very efficient, and will add more time to wash. The time for the loads are already too long. It could be a hour and a half before the wash is done. Most of the time I will have to switch the cycle in mid wash to the rinse/spin cycle to finish the load.
I was happier with my washer that could have been 10 yrs old. Completely disappointed in this purchase! The dryer I don't have any complaints about.

Washer is noisy. The stainless steel drum bangs around a lot. It is frequently out of balance. When it on spin cycle it is noisy and makes a rapid thumping sound. Replaced a Whirpool Cabrio that only lasted 4 years. Clothes seem to come out clean even though it seems they are washed in only 5 inches of water no matter what the cycle setting. Have had the washer for a week now and going to call BB to return it or select a different brand. Intending to purchase a dryer as soon as my tax refund check comes at BB. Love BB and want to get a nice washer/dryer set. This is my first purchase of an LG product.

Bought this washer over a year ago after much research. Very disappointed! Every load unbalances then adds water to re-balance so it takes hours to complete one load. Not energy efficient at all. Will never buy LG appliance again.

Quiet, HE, good features, but:
Failed within 7 months of purchase. Water would not shut off after load finished and washer shut down, or it would shut down with a tub full of water. This necessitates running a spin cycle. Water left in tub caused misread load sizes and overfilling on subsequent loads. Customer Service would not accept the water shut off problem as sufficient reason to send a repair-person and warned me repeatedly that I would be charged for the service call if they found nothing. There have been no error codes in spite of the varied failures, so I am still running it to document its behavior before calling again for repair.
( Since first Customer Service call: Only two of the past eleven loads have functioned correctly without monitoring.)

I've had this machine for over a year now. I wish I could return it. As others have said you have to be there to babysit this washer. I'm pleasantly surprised when I DON'T get an uneven error message. I follow the instructions on how to load the machine but almost every time the clothes have to be manually adjusted. The fabric dispenser fills up with water so you have to pull it out and dump the water before adding fabric softener. If I still had a house full of kids this washer would not work. I won't be buying any more LG products.

Software problems

The washer worked fine for about a year and a half, and then it started throwing an error code every time I ran a wash. I would have to rearrange the clothes and restart. Finally, LG sent out a repair person, who had to run a software update. We were charged $215 for this service. We tried to get reimbursed by LG...customer service kept saying they would look into it and get back to us. Months went by with no response, even after us calling every once in a while to follow up. Now, six months after the first repair, we are getting the user error code again. LG says they'll pay for this one this one time. I would say this washer is a lemon. I can't imagine how much water I've wasted trying to get a load just washed. Sometimes it runs the error and continues to stream water into the machine. And the fact that LG expects the customer to pay for software updates is incredibly insulting. So we have to pay $200+ every 6 months to upkeep a piece of garbage appliance? STAY AWAY

I loved this washer for the first few months I had it. I did notice the soap residue many reviewers mention, but I just added a second rinse, and that seemed to take care of it. Then I got my water bill and realized, "this is not an HE machine!". If you have to use twice as many rinse cycles to get your clothes clean, that hardly saves energy.
I also immediately noticed it tended to go off balance more than I would have expected. I switched to washing everything on "bedding" setting for bulky loads, and that seemed to help for a little while.
Months later though, every load comes out chalky with residue, nearly every load goes off balance, and it's become clunky loud.
This isn't what I had expected from such a pricey brand. I'm really disappointed. Certainly won't be buying the matching dryer now.
I miss my Maytag Atlantis more than ever now. 12 years solid before it so much as broke a belt. This LG sounds and performs worse 6 months in, than my Maytag did when I finally replaced it at 14 years.
Maybe one of LG's higher models is better, but I would not recommend this washer as an investment to anyone.

Junk, pure junk

The LG WT1101CW washer is a piece of junk. Takes hours upon hours to do one load and normally have to shut it down and do wash separate, rinse separate and spin separate. Main problem is machine cannot spin properly. Impossible to make spin properly. Sensors detect imbalance when there is none - for goodness sake we are not trying to enrich uranium- Constant UE error on spinning. And don't insult me Machine is level and clothes are spread out as evenly as can be. Using weight to sense imbalance is absurd. Don't buy this piece of junk.

Run the other way

I wouldn't give this machine to my worst enemy. Clothing comes out dirty in places that didn't have dirt when it went in. Some of the clothing never gets submerged at all, coming out completely dry in patches. Dirt ends up in the dryer from clothing that didn't properly wash. Even when using the "extra water" feature, it doesn't do a good job. If you have to wash things multiple times and use extra water, where is the efficiency? I am ready to bite the bullet and buy another brand new machine, even though this one is less than a year old, but I don't know what to do with this one because no one should be fooled into thinking that it washes clothing.

Does not Live Up to Promise

One major and two minor problems with this washer.
The major one is that it will not wash with hot
water. It has a "hot" setting, but this mixes
about half hot and half cold water. What makes it
even worse is that after the first few minutes of
washing, additional water is added to the tub, and
this is 100% cold water. I thought that something
was wrong with my machine, so I had an LG
repairman come to look at it. He measured the
temperature of the water after the initial fill
and found it to be 97 F. He said that this is the
correct temperature, and even called LG to comfirm
his claim. Some things, such as bedding and
diapers should be washed in water that is 130 F or
higher, which is what is considered "hot". A
temperature of 97 F is "warm" by most standards.
A partial solution is two keep the cold water
turned off until the initial fill is complete, but
it has to be on for the secondary fill, which
still means no hot wash.
The first minor problem is that there is no liquid
detergent cup, so the detergent immediately starts
to drip on the articles in the washer. This could
be a problem if using the "delay wash" feature, as
concentrated detergent would sit in spots on the
fabric until the wash cycle starts. It is
interesting that the manual mentions the liquid
detergent cup in a couple of places, and in one
place even says to be sure that it is in place.
But when I contacted LG, they said no cup is used
in this model.
The second minor problem is that LG was too
agressive in water saving. If the default water
level is used, then the articles in the load do
not move enough to be cleaned. I saw this in the
first load that I did. It had 4 pair of men's
slacks and a number of socks. A section of the
waist band of one of the slacks never got into the
water. The second load had 10 sport shirts. Two
of the shirts started on the top of the load and
stayed on top during the entire wash cycle.
Needless to say, they were not clean. By using
the "water plus" feature, a larger amount of water
is used, and things move around more during the
wash cycle. So far, the cleaning results have
been satisfactory when using "water plus". You
don't save as much water, but it is still a lot
less than a conventional machine.
Some reviews complain of the load getting out of
balance. I have run into this only once. The
load consisted of 3 flannel shirts and a pair of
heavy socks. The 3 shirts got their sleeves all
tangled together and became like a single heavy
item.
The high efficency washing machine is a great
idea, but this version has not done it right.

I've only had this washer less than a week but i'm searching for items to wash...I love it. It's impressively quiet and very user friendly. It has the capability to wash bedding HOWEVER my queen comforter wouldn't fit. But my quilt and blankets fit perfectly! My hopes are that this washer lasts a long time w/o problems. I believe it's a good buy!! :)

Washer cleans clothes good but when it comes to bigger objects like bed sheets the machine always becomes uneven and it will add water then empty and keep doing so until you manually even out the load but it is very annoying having to do this

Don't buy this washer. I've had this for a little over a year and the clutch is bad.LG warranty does not cover the clutch and they charge 200 to replace it. Now its wasting space in my laudry room. At this point i'd rather get another washer than fix this disposable junk. If you buy this but the extended warranty... Although i dont know if geeksquad even cover all the parts for this piece of junk.
It is always unbalanced and always uses more water to balance the load...normal load would always take more than an hour. Again dont buy.
I figures i spent $500 for this junk divided by about 52weeks thats about $9.61 a week i would have paid for laundy which is still not bad compared going to the laudry place
