First, we really like LG Products. We got the Basic LG Washer since we just needed it to wash clothes. Thought we would not need all the bells and whistles of the more expensive model. Although cost effective, we miss the enhancements of the more expensive model. If you have the extra cash, I’d go with the expensive model. Either way, you won’t go wrong with an LG Product. Plus, having the Geek Squad around makes either model a good investment. Best Buy stands behind their Products.

Best Buy had the exact LG model washer we wanted in stock at a great price, PLUS we received a store credit for using the Best Buy credit card. This was an excelkent experience. We would not hesitate to shop Best Buy again for major appliance purchases

Researched & found that; despite complaints of out-of-warranty rotor, sensor, & suspension issues; LG is still rated as the most reliable washer in CR magazine & at online shopping sites.
Needed to replace an 11-year old LG WT1100CW that was a year out of warranty & having multiple UnEven load issues. So I went for another LG washer & purchased this model WT6100CW.
Purchased from Best Buy and paid for delivery only. The delivery crew was quick, neat, & professional. Installed the washer myself. Have installed multiple washers & dryers over the past 40+ years -- so one level, 3 hoses, and a plug were no challenge.
HOWEVER, the LG Owner Manual [print, pdf, & online] does NOT correctly describe how to run the "Installation Check" test cycle for the WT6100. Tried to follow the directions on page 15 multiple times & nothing happened.
1st, called to LG Customer Service & encountered a customer service rep who politely read to me from another [old & outdated?] manual & told me to go straight to Operation section [page 16] & to select the Normal cycle and add a half amount of the detergent, then start the appliance without clothes.
When I insisted that this solution was not a substitute for the "Installation Check" test cycle & that it might be that the install check firmware had been changed but not documented she politely told me that LG could not send a service tech to verify proper "Installation Check" software operation because the washer was not yet "installed" saying Best Buy did not perform the install. (No BB install, no warranty?)
Using this logic I've never really installed any of my prior washers [Sears, Maytag, & LG WT1100] because I did the install & hook-ups myself. "Lucky" that I never had a warranty issue with any of those appliances.
Eventually after 40 minutes if this polite but useless back & forth I hung up. LG customer service reps need to be better trained & their manuals need to be up-to-date.
2nd, I called Best Buy told them what LG had told me & luckily the BB rep offered to send out a service tech for free to check the unit & reminded me that I could return, replace, or exchange the washer within 15 days of purchase.
3rd, I downloaded the LG ThinQ app & ran that diagnostic which reported everything OK [screenshot attached].
4trh, yesterday I spent an hour online & found a You-Tube video describing a similar "Installation Check" problem with an LG WT7xxx model & finally got my unit to perform "Installation Test". Result = no flashing LEDs = Installation OK.
(Are you confused yet? I am.)
Finally, today I followed the 'Operation - Before Use' instructions on page 16, then ran normal, delicate & speed washes, & re-ran the LG ThinQ diagnostic which again reported everything OK.
Bottom Line = Liked Goldstar/LG appliances [+4 stars], don't like poorly written manuals [-1 star],
& hate LG customer service [-2 stars] = 1 star.
So, now...Do I call & cancel the free BestBuy service visit?
Do I send back an apparently good washer just because there was a firmware change on the washer that was not properly updated in the LG Owner Manual?
Do I avoid wasting anymore time & just keep the thing; gambling that it will last longer than 11 years?
Do I give it 1 star today & then add another star for every five years that it continues to run properly?
More questions than answers.
Hi, Richard. Thank you for taking the time to review the LG Washer (WT6100CW) model. We understand that the confusing manuals and customer service issues made you unhappy with the product. We aim to provide great customer service and ensure a good experience. We respect your decision to keep or return the washer. You can keep it if it's working well and you're happy with it. But if you're worried about the firmware change affecting its long-term reliability, returning it within 15 days might give you peace of mind. Your feedback will be shared with LG for improvements. If you have more questions, please reach out to us on social media @LGUSSupport. ^Juvy
