I have had 2 similar LG models like this one. They NEVER made this much noise when in the rinse cycle. The racket will drive you crazy.

This machine works correctly as long as you never push the pause button. If you do, the machine fills with water to the top. It also fills to the top again for the rinse. I returned my first machine and made an even exchange for another and it did the same thing. Finally I had a tech from LG come to the house. He called technical support at LG and they told him it is programmed to do that. This is not the way these machines are supposed to work. I returned it for another brand and I have had no problem so far. Also you cannot wash water resistant clothing or bedding in this machine.

The screen with the commands and feautes lights up very nice, it has an alarm to alert you when the cycle is done, but it has a big "con" the clothes come up way to wrinkle, I use to have a old fashion washer machine before and the clothes came out almost wrinkle free. The only good thing about this new machine is the big capacity.

I have not had the machine long enough to rate it. I need to have it at least 60 days before I can accurately rate it.

The washing machine stops all the time cause it states the load isnt balanced. Ive made sure its perfectly level and i can only fill the machine half full. I should have bought a regular washer with no extra features. Bad choice.

This was the worst washer I have ever used, including cheaper brands owned by others. I did replace it with a front loading LG which cost more money but was well worth it. The toploader did not agitate or move clothes around at all, it was unbelievable. At first I thought it was broken, but no it simply did a terrible job.

Great choice & good value for an HE top loader

I bought this washer about 2 months ago to replace my similar 6-year old Whirlpool Cabrio HE top loader, which broke after only 6 years due to a bad bearing in the drive motor. Instead of paying half the value of a new unit to fix it, I just bought a new unit. The current models of Whirlpools (and similar Maytags) in this price range no longer had all of the features I was used to, but I found this LG on sale and decided to try it out. To get the same features on a current Whirlpool model, I would have needed to buy the high-end model for a few hundred more.
First of all, for all of the reviewers that complain that any HE top-loader is defective because the clothes are not fully submerged in water, please ignore those reviews! That's how HE washers work -- The clothes are agitated into and out of a minimal amount of water. The "Normal" cycle in this LG washer does seem to use even less water than my old Whirlpool, but if you feel more comfortable having slightly more water, try one of the other cycles, like "Towels", which in the user manual is prescribed for regular clothes, sheets, and permanent press as well, and it uses more water.
You will need to read the manual thoroughly to understand all of the features. For example, in the "Normal" cycle, if you use fabric softener, you MUST press the fabric softener button when you start the load, or else it will do a spray rinse and not effectively distribute the fabric softener. But for most other cycles don't need you to press the button even if you are using fabric softener. The washer does come with a handy, laminated quick reference card with a suction cup attachments, which I found to be a nice touch.
One of the things I like better about this LG than my old Whirlpool Cabrio is that the LG has several unique wash motions that I feel more effectively clean clothes. (LG brands this unique feature as "6 Motion" washing.) The LG utilizes a clutch to switch between using just the wash plate and then engaging the entire basket, alternately throughout the wash cycle. You can tell when it's engaging because the basket does a little back-and-forth dance and then the entire basket spins. It appears to be very effective at ensuring all the clothes are evenly saturated and also seems to serve to keep the load balanced better. I just hope this clutch remains reliable for 10 years! We shall see...
Another improvement with this unit over my old Whirlpool is that the feet seem to be "stickier" so it does not walk at all on my hardwood floors when I have an imbalanced load.
Overall, I am very pleased with this washer, and it compares favorably to my old Whirlpool Cabrio, which I also loved. The only complaint I have is that at the end of the cycle, after it plays it's end-of-cycle jingle, the entire unit turns off to a blank screen after 1 minute. So if you forget about the load, there is no visual indicator as you walk past it to remind you there is a finished load inside. This is a minor annoyance, but not a deal-breaker.
A reminder to all HE washer owners, to properly care for this washer, you should always leave the lid OPEN between washes and follow instructions for running a monthly self-cleaning cycle. If you complain that your washer smells musty, you are not taking care of it properly; don't blame the washer.

Big, awesome washer!

I have had this washer and matching dryer for over 18 mos. now. I spent many hours researching washers and dryers (ugh!) I was set on a front-loader, but we ended up leaving the store with a high-efficiency top-loader. There are 7 in our family and what sold me was basically the size and the price for it. None of the front-loaders came that big and this was still cheaper than many of them. (Everyone has front-loaders in Europe and they don't cost nearly as much. Go figure.) The washer was not high-efficiency enough to qualify for rebates here, etc., but it still saves water. It automatically adjusts the water level according to what's in the tub (meaning that throwing in wet clothes will fool it into thinking there's more there.)
Bottom line, this washer swallows loads whole. I could fit two or three of my old loads into one with this new washer. I can also fit quilts and comforters in it. It doesn't have an agitator like other top-loaders. It has a rotating plate (with a small point) at the bottom that swishes the clothes around. The water line comes up maybe to the top of the clothes and the plate turns back and forth, letting the clothes slosh around on top of each other. That's what cleans them. Clothes do have a tendency to twist around each other, but I've never had a problem with them being stretched out by this. The bigger the load is, the more they twist up. When I have a big load twisted like that, I pull the clothes away from the sides and that helps loosen it up. If you have a delicate garment and are worried about this, simply put it in a small load. There is no "gentle cycle" as it is all gentle.
The spin cycle is great as it has a mechanism to help balance loads. (It still isn't impervious to a wet bathroom rug, though.) It helps a lot and is necessary as it spins at very high speeds. It sounds kind of like a jet engine warming up. This leaves the clothes almost dry, which makes up for the longer wash time. It also means less time in the dryer which is more energy (money) savings. It still has a knob for traditionalists like me, but it also has buttons to allow you to change the soil level, spin speed, water temperature, etc. You can also set up a custom wash. You can look at all of the extras in the product details.
I haven't had any problems, only annoyances like the twisted clothing. Also, if you use HE powdered detergent and use too much for the load size, you will have soggy leftover detergent in the receptacle. I first thought something was wrong, but I just had to learn to measure right. I also learned that if you start a load then open the top to add something and forget to close it, it will turn off by itself after a while. Then, when you restart it, it starts from the beginning, even if it has water in there already, meaning you have to drain it first (run spin cycle) before you can restart it. Now you know.
I love this washer (and the little end-of-cycle jingle.) I expect it to last many years and through all my kids. And I got it on sale, to boot. :)
