So far this TV is working great and I use it for my AIr antenna channels (NO CABLE TV), and streaming movies with my Sony Smart Blu-ray player. Of course I use it with my Blu-ray for Blu-ray and DVD. I had not being able to connect the TV sound to my receiver. I have an old receiver with no HDMI connection, but I have digital optical connection and AV connection. But, can't figure out how to have the sound to go to my receiver. Everything else, works great. The Eco Settings does not give you the best quality in picture, is kind of dark. You may want to change it when you set your TV up.

Not many reviews posted list the benefits of using large screen displays as monitors. I took a chance and purchased this LG since it was an open box item at a good price point. If your buying a large screen to use as a computer monitor expect to spend hours tweaking the settings to get the picture just right. It's also important you have a high end graphics card with at least 2GB of Ram to get a smooth picture. This LG model came with two custom setting in addition to the stock setting so you can set and save the customized settings for your monitor. The only real problem I had was with my graphics card which didn't like being used in a dual monitor setting. Chances are it time for an upgrade to a better card.

We bought this online Thanksgiving Day. Upgraded from a 37" that had nothing wrong with it and this is our first LG TV so we'll see how it lasts. So far the picture is pretty good although if you put it on energy saver the picture is not as bright and picture is wobbly at the edges. Too easy for my husband to hit the wrong button on the remote and change settings on the TV. Would be good to be able to save them so they can't be changed so easily. He said if LG could make the remote buttons to where you could just push the wrong button again to go back it would be better in his opinion. Or make the buttons bigger and fewer. Easy to set up with our WiFi and the additional HDMI port is a thoughtful addition.

I wouldn't have posted a review if I wasn't completely satisfied. I must admit, I purchased this tv as an open box item and I thought that maybe I was making a mistake by not purchasing the tv at full price. Luckily for me, the tv was in perfect working condition and not a scratch on it. It was missing the remote and instruction manual, but that was an easy fix. Universal remote and an online manual. Tada! Only spent 550 for the tv and it was money well spent. Picture quality is way above average and it looks awesome above my fireplace. I purchased insurance, just in case, but so far...knock on wood...Haven't needed it. I recommend this tv to anyone who is just not ready to pay for a 4k tv or an expensive smart tv. It's simple and easy to use.

I purchased the 47 inch and then I got a notification for Black Friday that the 55" TV was on sale for the same price I as the 47" . BestBuy offered free shipping, so I ordered and the TV and it arrived on time. I only paid $499 for this TV, so I returned the 47" when I received the 55". I primarily own all Samsung LED TV's, but I couldn't pass up this deal. The picture doesn't stand up to my Samsung TVs, but it's very acceptable. The sound quality is way better than my Samsungs. I give the LG 5 stars for sound and 4 for picture. Also, this TV is a lot thicker than my slim LED Samsungs, but this isn't a big problem since I have it mounted on the wall. Overall, great buy.

Bought this as a black Friday deal so I bought it for almost half of list! A 55" name brand LED TV for less than a grand? No brainer. I dislike when people rate products lower because it's missing features or inputs (I'm not listing specs or inputs, research yourself). You know what it has before you buy it! That being said, picture quality is good. As good as TV's 2-3 times it's price? No, but its still good and works great for most applications (movies, xbox and sports). The only minor complaint is the speakers. They're not great but I saved enough on the TV that I bought a Yamaha YAS101BL soundbar to compliment it. Now, if the TV last me several years or more I'll be extremely happy (I did buy the extended warranty for 4 years though).

I purchased this as one of the door buster deals on Thanksgiving on a whim as I didn't plan on purchasing a tv but the picture is good and sound is great so far in the two months ive owned it. If you have a lot of HDMI plug-ins expect to get a switch because this tv only comes with two! My older tv even had 3... come on LG keep up with the times! My Charter remote worked perfectly with my older Samsung tv and with this tv I almost instantly lose the programing and have given up using my Charter remote because it's more of a pain to reprogram it than just use two remotes (and it's a huge pain to use two all of the time).

I bought this TV on Black Friday 2013. It was exactly what I was looking for: a TV with a huge screen without all the expensive bells and whistles that I don't need or want such as 3D or Smart capability. I wanted a 1080p TV with 120 Hz. This TV was advertised as such but I have since found out that the 120 Hz is not true 120. But even so, I am happy with the purchase because the price was so low. I'll deal with some blurry fast motion scenes for now and buy a faster TV in the future. I bought another one for my parents for Christmas. I rated the picture, sound quality and features as "good" but still rated the TV as "5 stars" because the TV is easily a 5 star TV considering the price.

Got this TV on black friday upgrading from a 40" 60hz from the year before. Really wanted a larger tv for the living room, we don't need any of internet connectivity so this was a great choice. 2 HDMI spots and a single USB port. I can't comment on the audio quality since I've had it hooked up to a sony receiever never actually used the tv speakers. I didn't really expect such an amazing different between the old 40" lcd and this LED. But as soon as I hooked up the PS3 and PS4 everyone was amazed. Awesome graphics. Couldn't be happier with the purchase. We have a very well lit living room that the sun shines into first thing in the morning and its still easy to see.

I bought this TV on Best buy Door buster, as was told , It is 120HZ, but later figured its 60HZ, But till date have no issues, Gaming, streaming never lags and have noticed any difference either.

i was caught off guard by the beautiful picture, the night we bought this my husbands fav. movie star wars just happened to be on tv, and the picture was awesome, however..... there are less connections than my 4 year old visio which this replaced, we almost returned, but my husband who is pretty tech savvy had other products to maximize our set-up, figured it out and it is ok now, but there is very little to work with, if you just have a cable box (dvr, whatever) to hook up you will be fine, but for other components expect to have to purchase other products to extend connectivity.

For the black Friday price of $499 this set is fantastic so far. Picture quality is outstanding, the thin frame makes the TV look good and the remote is easy to use to switch inputs. There are different settings for sound and picture, from "standard" to "concert" to "games", etc. The only downfall I can find so far is that there are only 2 HDMI inputs. So, if you have a DVD player that you still use and a gaming system, like an xbox, you have to switch out the HDMI cable every time you want to use one or the other since HDMI input No. 1 is used for the input from your cable provider (FIOS).

I bought this T.V. on sale during a Black Friday event at Best Buy for just under five hundred dollars. So it was a great buy and with the free delivery and set up to my house (they took my old t.v. away), it was a great deal. Very clear picture, nice size and very easy to set up. Things I would change: Move the ports to the front of the t.v./ Add an additional port/ Change the base from plastic to a stronger substance/ Increase the volume capability on the t.v. for those of use that do not have surround sound.

Excellent value at the Black Friday price of $500. Lacking in bells and whistles, but I didn't need any if that. I just wanted a large tv capable of delivering a beautiful 1080p picture and this delivered. I was a little disappointed when I found out the tv is not actually 120hz as advertised by best buy, but that's not a deal breaker to me. For 500 bucks this will r Tide me over for 5 or so years until OLED becomes affordable. Overall good tv, although lacking in features, for an incredible price.

Bought this to replace a smaller set for my mother in law. I have never had an LG. I am a Sony person, but this T.V was WAY easy to set up. Out of the box, it was programmed, hooked up to all components and being viewed in LESS then a half hour!!! Has an amazing picture, pretty good sound, ( even without the Bose system) and with the INCREDIBLE thanksgiving online deal I got there is no way to go wrong.....now let's see if it has the durability to last the test of time.

I bought this tv online Thanksgiving morning. After considering some of the more expensive models including Samsung, Sony, and Sharp. I decided that price per inch was the winner. The LG cost was less than half that of the 46" Sony I bought a few years ago. So far we are very happy with the purchase. The picture, sound, and set-up, was as expected. This isn't the best tv out there, but if you want a larger screen without the larger price, this is an excellent choice.

As a non-cable tv viewer, my need is simply to be able to get all digital hd off-air channels in my local area. Most tvs require antenna repositioning and rescanning for for certain station alignment relative to one's antenna location. This is a time consuming ordeal that is only alleviated when a tv has an "add on" channel feature. This unit has that feature and is especially nice in that the digital channel can be entered directly for immediate tuning and memory.

I purchased this TV on black Friday for $499. You can not beat a 55" Tv for that price and from a reputable brand such as LG. I have no need for a smart TV because other devices can perform same functions and I don't need more hdmi inputs as there are not many components that require such hookup. the TV looks nice as it is ultra thin and less than 1" border around picture. my only problem is that I can not adjust settings to get rid off too much yellow in picture.

purchased on black Friday, sale price. We needed something to fit into a tv cubbie above our fireplace - before moving to this house we had a 60" tv in the living room. This tv meets all of our needs: fits into the cubbie, good picture quality, easy to use. Our only complaint is that the sound quality is not as good as the other tv (we have considered that this may have something to do with the tv being in a cubbie, getting a sound bar, hoping this will help)

Black friday steal !! Great picture , easy to set up, thin, light, Great value on black friday sale .... would be willing to pay full price for this picture quality. I did not need 3D or smart tv ( I have a roku for smart tv functions). If you are looking for a great picture and don't need 3D or smart tv, this tv should make you happy at a minimum price. If this tv holds up to the test of time. I will have zero complaints and be completely happy with my purchase. Only wish that I had bought a second one for my Dad.
