We primarily use this television to watch older shows before HD came out so the picture is just adequate. Plus, on some networks, scenes from these kind of shows are so dark, you can barely see what you're watching. Overall, this TV is excellent for movies but only so-so for regular TV shows.

Ever since I first saw the OLED screens, I knew I had to have one. I'm coming from a Sony KDL50W700B, which is one of, if not THE best LED TVs when it comes to black representation. Compared to other LEDs, it was fantastic! Then comes the OLED. This tv absolutely crushes any image quality you've seen before (with the exception of other OLEDs); yes, even your favorite plasma. With a few tweaks to the image settings the results are pretty extraordinary. I do a little bit of everything with this: gaming, sports, blu-ray, Netflix, etc. It does it all, flawlessly. When the screen is on, without any input, you would think it was off because of how black the screen is. The colors this screen produces are truly vibrant. Motion blur is very very minimal, and most people won't even notice it. With the proper settings, it is nearly non-existent. I don't have much of an opinion on the curved screen, other than it looks cool aesthetically. The remote is unique, in the sense that it has motion control technology, so you point it at the screen and control it like a mouse. You don't have to use this function, and can scroll though like any normal remote if you wish. Stand is very solid and it looks great. PROs: * Phenomenally vibrant colors * Truest blacks levels you've ever seen. Literally pure black. * Very minimal motion blur * Best picture quality on any 1080p screen I've seen CONs: * Unique remote technology that some may not like * Careful about image burn in. Don't leave the tv on for days at a time. The display unit at Best Buy had pretty significant burn in, but that set had been on display for two years, non-stop. * Out of box quality is very good, but needs tweaking to maximize quality. Very easy settings to navigate.

It's the future of TV sets. Best black level. It's black-hard to tell if it's off or on. Light so easy to position.

We weighed the differences between OLED and 4K. We're quiet happy with our decision. The curve is very subtle and not as dramatic as the Samsung's, and the color is impressive. We don't have to keep up with all the 4K upgrades, which is also convenient.

Wonderful Picture, whether your watching Vudu, Netflix, Live Tv, Cable it is a amazing picture for a 1080p. Add the 2D to 3D Conversion and it brings this tv to a level that no other tv can compare! I could go on about how great it is but you just have to check it out for your self! You'll also like the web os apps and the magic remote.

What I like: Outstanding picture quality with Blu-ray playback and antenna over the air TV. To be honest your over the air picture quality will be dependent on what content networks or your local stations are broadcasting and the resolution 480p, 720p or 1080p. Higher resolutions (720-1080) generally produce topnotch picture quality again depending on the content. Your sort of at their mercy. Cable or dish feeds might be better controlled don’t know I’m just using an outside antenna for free. Netflix / Roku picture quality is excellent - sharp with beautiful color on almost all of their content. Picture controls are very flexible easy to customize to your viewing preferences for each input source. It may take a while to understand all the settings it takes some patience to gradually dial everything in. If your not handy or don’t have time just hire a pro to calibrate it for you. However the isf Expert 1 picture setting is very good out of the box. Basic place to start – TV's default picture mode out of the box is "APS" not so good. I'm using the "isf Expert 1" picture mode on every input source (Netflix, All three HDMI ports, Blu-ray player, computer, ROKU etc.) Each time you select a new source you need to change the picture mode from APS to isf Expert 1. After this is done the TV remembers your settings and adjustments for each source. Depending on the input source selected I kept my OLED light around 60 - 65, Brightness from 50 - 52, Contrast 80 -90, Sharpness from 10 – 15, Colors 45 – 50 tint at 0. Turn “Energy Saver” off. These setting have produced a stunning picture for me. I haven’t explored the other modes yet. This TV is amazing with Blu-ray movies. I'd give it a 10 out of 10. It will work fine in a brightly lit room but it really shines when all the lights are turned off in your viewing room. It's playback is way better than my Panasonic Plasma or other TV's. Movies like - Gravity, Interstellar, Avatar, Close Encounters, have absolutely gorgeous playback. Rich popping colors, super black levels, shadow detail etc. really set this LG TV apart from any LCD type of flat screen TV - even the Samsung 8500 & 9500 series I looked at. TVs audio optical port passes Dolby digital 5.1 very cool for those using theater amps. (The older LG-EC9300’s audio port is PCM stereo only) Viewing angles are very wide w/o any color or contrast shifting. Have not experienced any screen burn in with normal use just follow the guide lines in manual. Why not 4K? Most experts agree if you're sitting 6 to 10 feet away from this 55” TV you will not see much picture benefit even if you can find 4k content to play. If your going with a 65” model you may want to consider 4K – of course at this time that’s a quite expensive personal choice. If you already have a decent TV just wait a while. The 55" size TV was perfect for our viewing room could not justify the extra cash for the (9500) 4k LG model. Perhaps in five or six years 4k will be the standard. Honestly to my eye though the LG 4k model picture quality did not look as good up scaling 1080p content as the EG9100 model displaying it’s native 1080p content that goes for 480p and 720p content as well. Maybe that has something to do with higher end models (9500) having to process or up scale lower res content to 4K it can’t miraculously convert 1080p content to display like true 4K content. My only gripes: The Smart Remote control is very cool but it's not back lit – seriously for a TV that cost $2000.00 can’t understand LG’s thinking for getting cheep on this. I went out and purchase a Harmony 650 remote controls everything including my legacy Sony VCR – all functions are beautifully back lit - just pickup the remote it senses movement and instantly lights up. The hard copy user manual is abysmal. The TV dose have a built in help feature but I found it awkward to use. Also as far as I can tell there is no search feature included for this on line manual, a huge oversight. This TV is loaded with built in features but so far I have not found much information that drills down into how to use them. As a result I have been in discovery mode and consulting with OLED support groups for information. Zoom “Aspect Ratio” settings. My other TV’s zoom 4:3 content proportionally to fill the entire screen however the 9100 just zooms the content within the 4:3 frame will not fill the screen. You would think since LG says the TV is sensitive to burn in the zoom would fill the entire screen. I have not found a work around for this. These are all very minor gripes because actually this is a fantastic TV. I do not regret the purchase and it has a WAF - "Wife Approval Factor" for looks and performance. One more thing since this is a very new technology I purchased the geek squad extended warranty Best Buy offers. Also I was very please at the price protection when the price dropped to $1799 Best Buy gave me the $200.00 credit.
