Picture quality is great, but there are a few flaws with the design with one of them being a deal breaker for me. 1. Make the stand slightly taller so a soundbar can fit under it. The height of the TV really limits your options if the soundbar has to be on the same surface as the TV. 2. With lower resolution sources such as 720p TV sources and the black detail that OLED can handle, color banding can be seen in a lot of darker scenes. It does depend a lot on the source. Watching Mr. Robot on USA is by far the worst example of it and may be due to the way it was shot and then compressed for broadcast. I haven't noticed it nearly as much with DVDs as I do with that show. 3. The glossy screen is way too reflective if you have a bright room. I live in a highrise apartment with a bright livingroom. The reflections on the TV are bad. I feel like my 10 year old LG with a matte/semigloss screen handled them much better. You can see in the pictures I am attaching for issue #4 4. The reflections have a fun house mirror effect. It almost looks like the screen is warped, but what LG has told me is that it is not a defect and has to do with the way the screen is constructed. It only affects the viewing experience for me when there is a dark scene and I have either a light on in the livingroom/kitchen or the blinds open which then causes reflections. If you are in a controlled lighting area such as a dedicated home theater room, this probably won't be a problem for you. See the attached pictures for the effect. I have the 55" and I expect that the larger screens will have it even worse, so that is something to take into account if you were looking at those. I did go by my local Best Buy the other day and found that all of the OLEDs in my local Best Buy (Sony and LG) also have the same effect with reflections. LG support will not do anything about #4 above as they deem it not a defect which is also contributing the the one star review. I may talk with Best Buy to see what they can do since I bought the protection plan, but I expect that since I am well out of my return window, I will be stuck with the TV. An expensive mistake on my part, but hopefully I can help others from making the same mistake with the information in this review. Again, I will say the picture quality is great, but the fun house reflections are a deal breaker, if Best Buy can't help me out in some way, I will be selling this TV and buying something without a glossy screen and better suited for a bright room.

I have had plenty of 4k tvs. Sony 4k xbr, samsung 4k, even an lg 4k just not oled. After weeks of research i knew the lg c9 was the best of the best. Hdmi 2.1 for support of the new ps5 and xbox series x, which will untilize 4k 120hz which hdmi 2.0 cant do( 1440p 120hz max) . vvr, g sync, oled, the list for this tv just goes on and on. Most oleds were always way too expensive but when i saw the lg c9 55 inch for 1500 no matter what tv i was looking at i always came back to this one. Exceptional value. The only other tv with hdmi 2.1 was the new samung 900 series starting at 2500 and in my opinion has great picture but not as good as the c9. To make things better i went to best buy and they had an open box one they just got that day, and got me an extra 150 off! Now me being how i am i was nervous about open box. But i inspected this thing like a maniac the first night and came to the conclusion its in perfect condition! It wasnt supposed to be missing any accessories but the book and the av cable adapter thing( nobody uses it anyway) wasnt in there, but i have one of them any way and i wasnt about to pack this bad boy up and take it back over somthing so miniscule. Im sure if i made a stink best buy would have made it right, im just so happy with the tv i didnt bother. Gaming on my ps4 pro one x and even my switch, everything looks better than ive ever seen it! I even hooked it up to my alienware pc and this thing is super sharp and responsive as a gaming monitor!! No ghosting whatsoever. I cant think of a single thing to say bad about this tv. Sound, picture, and design, all solid. Even has dobly atmos built in. I can use my optical cable right from my sound system to the tv and get sound from both tv and sound system in dts or dolby. This tv checks all the boxes guys. The search stops here. If not the new cx is right around the corner if u have the extra money, but imo this is all that is needed! I got the 55 but if u have the space by all means go for the 65!

This is not my 1st 4k HDR TV. I had Sony A8G - bought a floor model that I returned right away because it had a burn in. Vizio P-Series Quantum that ended up having jailbars DSE on 4 different sets and a Hisense H9F which had alot of hype but was not to my satisfaction. I decided to get the LG C9 so I know I'm not making any compromises and am getting the best picture quality available without going with an even more expensive Sony OLED. I must say that this TV is outstanding for everything I use it for and definitely the best TV I ever had. Netflix streaming, 4K UHD movies on a Sony 4K player and video games on PS4 all look amazing. The most important part of any TV is the picture quality and this set has one of the best looking pictures money can buy in 2019. The blacks are amazing, the colors are vivid and natural, and the contrast is out of this world. I have not seen any black crushing because the A9 Gen 2 chip does a great job in picture processing and the motion is outstanding. I would recommend this TV to anyone without any hesitation. This is a beast of a TV that does it all. Below are some cons however that I discovered in my few days of owning the TV. Cons: - eARC when booting up makes loud static noise for about 6 seconds every time I turn on the TV. Really annoying, but the sound from my Sony sound bar works fine after that. - Price. the Vizio had 85-90% of the picture quality for hundreds less. If it wasn't for my luck with the very distracting DSE I would of been more than happy with the Vizio. - The burn in worry is always there. I've seen it first hand on the Sony A8G and know it is real. Now I'm babysitting this TV like I've never done with any other set and am weary of playing video games on it. I also purchased an extended warranty for the first time in my life which means even more money spent on this already expensive TV. - Would not recommend for bright rooms. The TV gets plenty bright in a dimmer room, but would not be suitable in rooms with lots of natural light. Also, the screen is super reflective and would be too distracting in a bright room.

For the past couple of years, leading up to Black Friday, I've taken advantage of the sales staff knowledge at BestBuy regarding a possible upgrade to my home entertainment system. This year was no different and it began when I checked out the TCL 55R625 based upon the positive reviews at CNET. It escalated from there to the Samsung QLED series Q60 (on special) to the Q70 and Q80. From there I graduated to the LG OLED B8 before considering the C9PUA. This is a seriously nice television - the picture is stunning and two months later I remain impressed with the clarity of content old and new. I typically watch Amazon Prime, Netflix and premium cable (HBO, Stars, etc.) with the occasional DVD. Resisted buying a BluRay Player when it was the hot, new "thing" as the last thing I needed was to begin collecting yet another media format. While there was modest price break on the C9PUA during November be advised the LG OLED are not TVs which become a 'Door Buster' Special. Assume a price drop will occur only as new models are introduced. The User Interface on the LG is relatively straight forward, but I'm not making use of the voice control from either Google or Alexa (and I do not intend to.) The 'Magic Wand' remote is comfortable to hold, but the enter button is oddly placed where I find I have to adjust my grip whenever I switch from numeric input to the enter button. Best to let the relatively short delay between input and channel selection to occur normally. Establishing remote connections with my Verizon FIOS DVR and Sony DVD player worked very well and allows for centralized control of those devices. Coinciding with the purchase of the LG I also added a Bose Soundbar 500 and Bass Module 500 (considering the Surround Speakers for a future purchase.) The Bose connection to the LG works as anticipated and the 'Magic Wand' is used for volume control, but that's all: there is no provision made for controlling the EQ on either the Soundbar or Subwoofer as that is relegated to the iOS App by design. The only issue I've encountered with the LG + Bose pairing in 60 days was an unexpected loss of connectivity one evening. As the Soundbar was working fine the evening before, and still working via Bluetooth connectivity via the iOS App, etc. I had little recourse but to experiment with reconfiguring the connection from the LG. I've no idea what sequence of events restored functionality - I assume the connection was restored from having tried various options through trial and error. Upon reflection, I wonder if a software push had occurred and the devices needed to resync? No matter... Menu control of the FIOS DVR is accommodated thru a drop down menu on the upper right hand corner of the display (a comparable menu is available for the Bose.) It is not as immediate to use as the dedicated FIOS Remote, but the indexical functionality is there. The same drop down menu is available upon selecting another device such as a DVD player. Still, no EQ access to the Bose though. The included Apps feature Netflix, Amazon, and now Disney too. The LG content is acceptable if you don't subscribe to a premium service, but not a first choice. There appears to be a selection of local affiliate stations too which may be useful if you're a cord cutter. Adding/removing Apps is relatively easy I found when Amazon Prime became inaccessible and stuck on the configure Alexa screen one evening. I removed and reinstalled the App from the LG interface easily. There are options to add other popular Apps for cord cutters or if you desire more immediate access to subscription services like HBO or YouTube. I look forward to the eventual addition of an Apple TV App to this selection, but I find I'm not missing my Apple TV (3rd Gen) as AirPlay 2 on the LG suffices for now. I spent a modest amount of time with an online article guiding me through the various picture quality settings, but did not spend appreciable time living with a setting other than Standard to have an opinion whether one setting was more satisfying than another. I may revisit this some time in the not too distance future, but for now I remain pleased with the default settings. I could nitpick the user interface has more than one way to accomplish a given task, but then I'd likely criticize it for trying to be too dumb, or too smart, depending on the task at hand. Roku is said to have a great interface, but I've no practical experience to compare the two. Apple TV is dead simple - often too simple by comparison - requiring many button pushes. The LF "Magic Wand" provides for a floating cursor (comparable to a Nintendo interface) that takes some getting use to. The 55" LG is considerably larger than the legacy (ten years old) 32" Sony it replaced so a new wall mount was purchased and Geek Squad contracted for installation. This experience went well with the following exceptions: I had two discussions with BestBuy regarding installation and prepared with new, longer HDMI cables to replace the legacy cables and purchased a new wall mount to account for the increased dimensions and weight of the LG. What was not mentioned, i.e. overlooked, was that building codes have changed in the past ten years and it no longer acceptable to run the power cord alongside the HDMI cables within the wall. To this ends Geek Squad provided a Legrand - In-Wall Power Kit as a solution, but unfortunately had only a single outlet solution which necessitated an small extension cable to accommodate power to both the TV and Soundbar. If this had been mentioned during either of our advance conversations I would have been better prepared for the additional cost (reasonable) and perhaps a dual outlet solution. The second issue was unanticipated: the flush mount lighting in my living room is not sunken in the dry wall, but an after market upgrade from Home Depot which lies flush to the ceiling. The height of the new TV is such that a modest reflection is visible on the front of the TV when viewing in the evening even when the lights are dimmed. As they are now a few years in age no doubt a current solution will allow for complete dimming, I hope to upgrade this lighting to a current solution - perhaps in 2021. It's not much to complain about, but take into consideration when choosing where to mount your TV. Any lower on the wall would be obtrusive so I remained pleased with the installation. Geek Squad did a good job with the installation, hook up and configuration. We enjoyed our time together comparing notes on which streaming services we use for hearing new music! I'm extremely happy with my purchase of the LG 55" OLED C9PUA TV. Now that content providers have caught up with commercial offering a 4K UHD TV is a worthwhile purchase. The picture quality is outstanding - everything else was 2nd best. I hope my feedback is of some use to someone somewhere.

As expected from OLED, black levels are flawless. The physical design of the set is beautiful. The LG upscales content without any weird artifacts. Surprisingly, the Achilles heel of most slim TVs, the sound, is really good from the cabinet speakers alone. In a smaller room you could use this TV sans an additional soundbar or surround. The only part I can’t rave about is the operating system and menu system. It’s still a bit clunky with the magic remote. This is however a very minor and probably personal preference annoyance. Kudos LG!

I purchased this TV to replace my 9 year old Samsung 8 Series Plasma which had the best overall picture quality of any TV I had seen to date. I just couldn't justify an older LCD or LED TV. The picture quality, the color tones, the visible lack of contrast was just awful compared to my plasma... That was until I saw OLED! This TV is truly remarkable, the colors are stunning and the refresh rate is so smooth. The blacks are perfectly black and the colors are vibrant. My girlfriend wasn't excited about the purchase initially, then I turned on Planet Earth and she was floored by the picture. Add to that the form factor of the TV... the top half of the screen is thinner than a cell phone! The lack of a bezel is incredible as well... This TV is all screen! Throw in the smart features, smart remote and built in apps, and this is the perfect TV. Well done LG!

Only had the tv 2 days so far but I cannot say enough good things about it. The picture quality is amazing. The OLED screen is well worth it. It also has a lot of adjustable picture settings. I suggest you start with isf expert and then adjust to your liking. The remote control makes the whole experience of using the tv fun and intuitive. It has motion sensor and it’s movements control a mouse cursor on the screen. It also takes voice input and if you search for a show it shows all the apps that have the show available (ie. Netflix, Hulu, etc). I have a wireless keyboard with a trackpad and I plugged it to the USB port and now I can use it for text input on most apps and the trackpad controls the mouse pointer just like the remote. I can also send videos from YouTube on my phone and have them play on the tv.

Pros: -One of the best pictures on the market -Good sound -Easy-to-use magic remote -Absolutely essential for those looking to use a TV as a PC gaming monitor with a modern NVIDIA card (well, or the LG CX model, but I have the C9). Just remember to update your TV because mine did not G-Sync support until I updated it. -The colors are amazing. Black especially is just unrivaled. Cons: -SUPER thin screen on the top half. This may sound like a pro, but while setting it up I had to catch it from tipping and I feel I almost snapped the thing in two. It looks neat, but I'd rather it had a 1.5 in. thick screen like near the bottom just for durability (seriously, it's like 1/8-1/4 in. thick at the top). -Software and menus are just OK. Neutral: -As an OLED there is risk of burn in. I've only owned Plasma TVs and OLEDs and never had any burn in but there is always a risk. Just don't be an idiot and leave static images on it for hours on end and you'll be fine. -As an OLED it's not as optimized for super bright rooms. It still looks great, but it'll always look better in the dark.

I have owned the last 3 series 2017 2018 and 2019 oled lg TVs and this one tops them all. The C9 is super fast, brighter, better contrast than prior years OLEDs. I notice a big difference in overall brightness of this tv over my c7 without losing any of the deep blacks and rich colors the oled provides. I play some video games and response rate is awesome and hdr is plenty bright now. Movies look amazing in all modes but especially in Dolby vision! I recommend expert bright room setting for non hdr and cinema home for hdr content. If you have the money and in the market for a new tv then this tv cant be beat. There literally is not another tv on the market that will give you a perfect picture right out of the box like this tv will. The qleds Samsung has are ok and came a long way but they are not as good as this tv so if your about to spend 1k or so maybe spend that little bit more and grab one of these you won't regret it. No I dont work for LG nor do I gain anything for giving such a good review to this tv. I am just stating facts this is hands down the best tv on the market.

Really love this tv. The picture quality is amazing. If there is a black out during a show, it simply looks like the TV is off. Blacks are black. I’m not a fan of overly crushed black levels, and I really haven’t noticed any issues with crushed shadow detail. I also think highlight detail is great. Competing panel technology showed loss of highlight detail on in store displays, and professional reviews online confirmed my observation. I really don’t think you can beat OLED picture quality for the price at this point in time. The aesthetic design of the C9 is also very nice!

I've been very pleased with the picture and sound quality of this TV, as well as the ability to play sound through my receiver and speakers using the HDMI audio return channel. The "magic remote" took a few days to get used to, but becomes pretty intuitive once you start using it. Good range of picture settings such as brightness, color balance, and even overscan options for showing all pixels versus trimming out what would traditionally be in the overscan region of SD and HD TVs. While you may not expect to use that option with HD and 4K signals, it comes in handy when watching upscaled DVDs with distractions in the overscan region! It was easy to find in the menus after a quick Internet search. The sound easily fills my small living room, but also plays seamlessly through my home theater speakers via HDMI-ARC. Home theater volume can be controlled with the TV remote or directly from the home theater system. Good integration with home theater products, allowing the TV's magic remote to access key features of connected devices. There is a good range of basic apps available in WebOS, although some that I would like such as NBC Sports or specialized content like the Met Opera on Demand are not there and I have to stream through another device. Still, the major streaming players such as Apple TV, Disney+, Vudu, Hulu, Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, and YouTube are there. I get very high video streaming quality from the built-in WebOS apps. I think since the built-in apps know they are made for a 4K TV, they are written to make sure they pull the highest-quality video available. I even plugged a 4K Amazon Fire Stick into the TV for comparison, and the Amazon Prime streaming video quality from the Fire Stick was noticeably worse than when I played directly from the TV's Amazon app. So overall, I am quite pleased by the app quality on this TV! Has an antenna port for streaming over-the-air signals, and it lets you choose which channels to display or hide in the channel list. That includes showing and hiding individual digital sub-channels. There is even a program guide included, which I assume fetches program data from the Internet for the channels in my area. I do not remember setting it up; if I did anything, it must have only been providing my ZIP code during setup. The TV just "magically" knows what is on and what shows are upcoming when I press the Guide button on the remote, which is a very convenient feature! The only things I don't really like about the TV are, as I said above, the lack of specialized apps; the fact that I occasionally get advertisements from LG for new apps that I don't want (such as the Hyundai channel which they recently tried to push); and a few minor details about the menu and remote set up that don't really affect my ability to enjoy the TV. The picture quality is excellent compared to previous generations (LCD HDTVs), with deep blacks and smooth color transitions. It is a pleasure watching movies on this TV in 4K that I could tell were "off" somehow (skin tones, color gradients, etc) when I used to watch the HD Blu-ray on my old TV set. You will not be disappointed!

I am a proud owner of the B6 model. My home was hit by lightning and knocked out all of the hdmi ports on all of my electronics. Thank goodness for insurance! Well I decided to upgrade to the 55' and 65' C9's. Same great performance with a few additional bells and whistles in the settings. I am truly impressed with the sound even though I bypass the sound with true 7.1 surround. Out of the box the picture was pretty spot on and there are several pre selected enhancements if you aren't comfortable calibrating yourself. Excellent black levels and perfect viewing from any angle. These are the thinnest tv's you can probably buy right now. It's early in the year but this has to gain honors for one of the best if not the best set of the year.

I would recommend this to a friend
