Best TV screen on the market now

I have had a number of TVs over the years and this is the best viewing screen ever. Incredible blacks and brilliant colors with true cinematic quality. I've been primarily using it as a monitor in HD mode so far, I'm just not convinced that 4k makes that much of a difference. The resolution change doesn't matter all that much for normal viewing, but the HDR that runs in 4k does increased the lifelike qualities of the overall color. (Blacks seem a bit more graduated in HDR than in regular HD.)
However you use it, be sure to calibrate the screen following one of the basic adjustment guides online for this model. Overall, its probably not worth the extra $$ if you only watch sports or news shows, but for films and higher end TV its simply amazing.

"Is 4K really better? And is LG OLED the right technology?" These questions were answered with a resounding, "YES!" just hours after we set up our LG OLED55B7. The set requires a little set-up to find its system-wide sweet spot but features like one-button access to Netflix and Amazon Video, the "Magic" remote, and an ARC HDMI port make it well worth it. And that display! 0.0 Wow. We couldn't be more impressed with the picture - especially in how it handles blacks, a noticeable problem for the Samsung display we replaced. We're huge movie fans and can't wait to enjoy years of them on this TV.

Pitch Black

Pitch black is simply stunning. To view it in a large, well-lit store is to mostly notice the colors and the contrast. However, when it’s home and you’re watching the Earth II’s deep sea scenes, it is something else altogether. This was expensive. I bought it with the Black Friday sales in effect and it still felt expensive. For a moment I considered getting a larger LED tv for 2/3 the price. I’m so glad I stayed the course. Ridiculously thin display; easy to navigate controls; brilliant-brilliant colors; PITCH BLACK. Worth it.
P.S. The fact that this will cost less than $1,000 one day is wild...but also encouraging.

I bought this tv new. I would personally suggest avoiding the display models if you are overly concerned with “burn in” as saving a few bucks to get a permanent blemish on screen isn’t worth it to me. I originally tried the Sony 900e because of all the hype surrounding it but soon learned it was just that, “hype” don’t get me wrong it was a decent tv but looks way better in store than at home even with professional calibration. Picture was ok but not as crisp as my B7, and motion, no matter how the settings were changed, was hard for me to stomach. I exchanged it for the B7 and couldn’t be happier!
Gaming:
it’s hooked up to an Xbox one X and the 4k is flawless, it’s the best picture I’ve seen and the X looks significantly better on the B7 over the Sony 900e, input lag is also lower and it seems to get just as bright which was a concern I had for oled. I was super worried about image retention (image burn) I play a lot of games where hud stays in the same spot for hours so I bought the warranty, as Best Buy seems to have one of the best warranties on market for almost anything.
Summary:
That said I’ve had the tv for 3 weeks now and I’ve put it through the ringer trying to test for image retention and I’m shocked to have had 0 issues (thus far). Now I know it’s only been a couple of weeks so I’ll still suggest a warranty but it seems the burn in isn’t as easlily done as most people have claimed. For reference I’ve kept the tv on for a minimum of about 6 hours a day on fallout 4 hud screen and call of duty and an addition 4 hours of Netflix and have had no issues. Every night before I turn it off I do run the oled pixel refresher so that may be helping. All in all this tv is everything I hoped it would be. I’d still suggest the warranty “just in case” of screen burn as it’s not that much more to pay for peace of mind and if you’re willing to pay this for a tv anyway the warranty pricing shouldn’t be a concern. If your looking for the best, you’ve found it with oled!

This TV has the best contrast and black levels of ANY TV I have ever seen or owned. The remote control with its built in microphone and incredibly accurate speech recognition is AMAZING! You have to program the remote to work with your Home Theater and other components. You can do this by pressing the input button on the remote control. When the screen opens highlight the inputs (one at a time) that you have hooked to your system then click on "Edit the remote control". Hope this helps...

This is a great TV and its worth the money. The picture quality is amazing. The screen is amazingly thin. Even the sound quality is great. I have a sound bar, but I was impressed with the sound quality of the TV itself. OLED is where its at. The magic remote is fantastic. Since LG made all of theIr 2017 tvs equal in quality this is a no brainer. Do yourself a favor and pick up this tv.

I had a plasma for a while but then it died and shortly after got a Samsung LED 4K TV but it pails in comparsion to the sheer quality of OLED. This TV is stunning, the picture quality is second to none, the best LED doesn’t even come close. The black levels are spectacular, pretty much perfect and HDR looks incredible. 4K blu-rays, regular blu-rays, games on Xbox One X , PS4 Pro, and and Nintendo Switch look unbelievable. If you’re thinking about buying a 4K tv, the LG OLED b7 is by far the best choice.

I'm having a bit of buyers remorse, to be honest. Its a nice TV. The picture is great. But it will never look as good as it does in the store. Time will tell if it was worth the money. I wanted as "close to the best" TV i could get in this size. Did I get it?? No idea.
I upgraded from 4k (non-HDR) to this guy. I dont have cable, I stream Netflix and have an xbox one x. The One X games look incredible. HDR is a game changer. I can't quite decide if 4k Netflix streaming matches the quality of 4k Blu, but it looks good. I'm also unclear if Netflix takes advantage of HDR or not. It says Dolby Atmos w/ certain programs, so I suppose thats a yes. The Last Jedi on 4k blu didn't quite blow me away like I expected, but I will say again that the Xbox looks great w/ the right games. The video source is obviously a big piece of the display quality.
As stated above, HDR is fantastic for gaming -- but its confusing to set-up. The TV doesnt explain picture settings well. There's no manual and no way of telling you what Picture settings are good for what outside of the broad characterizations of "cinema", "cinema (dark), "gaming" labels. I consider myself technically proficient, but calibration isn't easy or straightforward. To enable the HDR for xbox one x, for instance, you have to dig pretty deep into the menus. Its not even labelled as "HDR: On/Off", its called something else. The first time I turned on the Xbox one X, it said my TV didnt support HDR at all. Minor panic attack.
When you launch an HDR game, the tv recogonizes it and puts you in a different picture mode altogether. My TV goes from the "gaming" setting, which is admittedly darker, to bright and clear HDR based on the content. I guess thats nice.
Smart TV functions are pretty easy to use. I havent dug super deep though. The remote has what is essentially a pointer, which is very cool, but I can't figure out how to turn it off (again -- no manual). I haven't tried voice features yet, nor am I super interested in them. My cat is mesmerized by the remote's pointer.
I'm happy with it, I'm not going to return it, its just --- in the age of 55+ inch 4k TVs under 600 dollars, I just dont know if it was worth spending 2-3x as much on this thing. General buyers guilt I guess. Ask me again in a year.

My son bought this TV for his bedroom for gaming - it is unbelievable - 55" is big for a small bedroom - but it looks great - you really cant get to big as long as it will physically fit in the spot - the magic remote is one of the best I have used - really easy and the mouse cursor on the screen is super cool - the blacks are really black and sometimes watching movies the room will almost be pitch black - for gaming you cannot beat this TV - LOVE IT

The best TV I've ever owned

I purchased the TV to replace a 55 inch Vizio I had purchased about a year and a half ago. Withing 6 months of owning the Vizio the screen went black after a force firmware update. They sent a refurbished replacement which developed a line going across the screen dead center less than 30 days after the warranty was up telling me my only remedy was to purchase a new TV from them for a discounted price. Needless to say I had no interest in another Vizio product. I did my research this time and decided I wanted an oled screen as they have a reputation of having the best picture quality. I was able to find an excellent price on this TV which besides the Oled had other features I was interested in like HDR and dolby vision and I have to say, all the hype is accurate. This TV's picture quality is nothing short of jaw droppingly amazing. Crystal clear picture while watching non HD movies but it really shines when you feed it HD or 4k content. The details I've noticed in movies I've seen a hundred times has me eager to re watch my entire library. I also have a PS4 Pro which I was beginning to feel wasn't worth the upgrade until I hooked it up to this bad boy. You have not gamed until you have gamed on this TV. I honestly felt as if I could reach out and touch the images on screen. This may not be the best TV on the market tho I just might argue with you about that. But this is honestly the best TV I personally have ever owned. If this TV breaks out of warranty I would go purchase the exact same TV again it's so good.
If you are reading this review you are looking for a reason to buy this set and you now have it. BUY THIS TV!!!

I must say this is the most amazing TV I've ever owned. It appears as if you're looking outside thru a window while watching this tv. The colors are stunningly vivid (bright) and as with all OLED TVs the blacks are exceptional. The picture is crisp at 4K resolution. This TV is great for watching sports. The clarity from my den is better than attending the game in person. The controls and remote are easy to use. Highly recommended

This TV is awesome and the picture quality is amazing. There is absolutely no other TV that is better at this price point. I've been gaming on this TV since I purchased it and there is no image retention or burn in at all. If you're a gamer, there is no set that is better right now since it has very low input lag and displays HDR and Dolby Vision very very well. Buy this TV now before it is no longer available.

Best Picture Available By Miles

Best color and overall picture by miles for the price. However, with panning scenes that contain mostly white or light greys, some vertical banding can be seen that are similar to traditional LCDs where there are noticeable dark spots along the edges or corners. These are barely noticeable on the OLED in anything other than hockey. The internal speakers leave much to be desired, but paired with an atmos sound bar, it's great. The internal apps support 4k, HDR, Dolby Vision, and Dolby Atmos, but are otherwise pretty standard.
There were initially audio sync issues with early versions of the firmware and apps, but that appears to have been mostly resolved through updates.

Having been a long time a Samsung Fan.. I could not believe how much better LG has become... This has to be the most beautiful picture quality I’ve ever seen.
The blacks are amazing as are the colors.. everyone I’ve had over is amazed at exactly how beautiful this television, incredibly thin.. almost possibly so.
I can hardly wait to replace my other 3 Samsung TVs with more LG’s.

I’ve been eyeing this tv since the beginning of the year, but didn’t want to pay $2,000. Did all the research I could on other TVs and still this one came up as the superior tv. So when BB slashed the price I pulled the trigger. This is the best tv I’ve ever owned the black levels are true and not shadowy so it immerses you into what you’re watching/playing. The input lag 21ms is a great accomplishment if you’re worried about gaming. HDR is great just wish it got a little brighter. I was worried about image retention(burn in). Now that I’ve had time to game on this I can say that it does occur, but has a feature that wipes it and so far nothing permanent. Audio quality isn't great I recommend getting a sound bar. Overall, a excellent tv.

I have been wanting an OLED TV since I first saw them years ago but they were always so expensive. And $1600 is no small penny either but compared to all the other OLED TVs out there is was the least expensive by at least $500. I love everything about it. The colors are great and the absolute blacks create great pictures especially when I’m gaming.

After months or research before Black Friday, I found a few TVs with high ratings on rtings.com for gaming in 4K HDR, but eventually settled on buying the LG OLED B7A when it went on sale for Black Friday. I am so happy that I went with OLED. The picture quality on this TV is truly astounding and the "true blacks" that it offers really changes everything. I've been using the TV now for about two months with my Xbox One X and couldn't be more content. Gaming in 4K HDR and watching video content in 4K HDR is really pretty amazing and I look forward to experiencing more and more 4K content as it becomes available in the next year and beyond. I have had no issues so far with image retention or burn-in and I think that these issues are often overblown. Yes, they can happen after a long period of time, but keep in mind that the tests for these on sites such as rtings.com are keeping their TVs on a static image for around 20 hours a day, 7 days a week. That is not normal usage for anyone I know. If you are looking for the best picture quality of 2017, look no further. And with the new 2018 models coming out soon, the price on this TV should only get better and better. I could not recommend it more.

I read all kinds of reviews before deciding to buy the LG 55 B7A. My wife and I looked at it side by side with a Sony 55" 900E. The difference, especially from a side view, was noticeable. It's everything we hoped it would be. The colors are crisp and bright, The contrast is exceptionable. Setup was easy. I highly recommends this LE OLED TV.

This TV is AMAZING!!! I was going to purchase a Sony 55 HDR non OLED. The Best Buy Rep showed me the OLED and I was hooked.
This TV blows away any TV I have ever owned... I paired it with the Sonos Soundbar, Sub and two satellites....Also included the Sony 4k player... AMAZING!!! I felt like I got upsold at first.. but man Im glad he took the time to show me... cost me about $700 more then I would have paid but it is worth it. OLED is the only way to go.. and LG is a great choice.

Great picture that can be adjusted for the shows you are watching. (Sports, earth shows, regular shows). The tv remote is awesome with the pointer and wheel scroll. We did have sticker shock at first but are finding this TV to be forth the cost. After two weeks we are still learning new things.
