Best picture for the Price- Hands Down!!

If you're looking for a plasma and don't want to break the bank or could care less about 3d and apps, buy this tv. I tried a Sharp 60' led/lcd. That tv had horrible off angle viewing and the panel had tons of issues- clouding on dark screens, black blobs on the sides of very white screens. The picture on this tv is absolutely stunning from any angle. The colors are spot on, the blacks are deep, and i have seen no digital artifacts like on an lcd. No blur, or weird edges. Just looks natural. I would recommend this tv in a heartbeat to anyone looking for a plasma screen w/o all the gimmicks -3D, Apps . I don't care to watch 3D and have apps on my Sony Blu-ray player. I can't say enough about the picture quality. Rivals panasonics best at 1/3 the price. Has tons of adjustment in the settings. I found some on avsforums that work perfect and are easy to do. I see no need for a profesional calibration. Watching AMC HD last night was just blown away at the detail and colors on a movie. Even the small speakers sound good. Great Job LG!! The only honest negative I can give this tv is glare. Plasmas will glare if there are some fairly direct lights -lamps, overhead lights . Just control the lighting and prepare to love the picture and love that you didn't have to break the bank in the process. I will be curious to see how it does with just indirect daylight. No matter what I can't see going back to today's edge lit led's . They still can't touch plasma.

    Excellent 'No Frills' 60" Plasma

The LG 60" Plasma (6500) has got to be one of the best buys (no pun intended) for a no frills 60" screen Hi-Def TV. It has 3 HDMI inputs, USB, component and composite inputs. I didn't need a 'Smart' TV as I already have 2 ways of streaming from the Internet to the TV. Why buy extra stuff I don't need? The picture Wizard II is a built in bonus as it allows you to adjust the picture close to perfect. The only down side is the built in audio is pretty average, but it has an optical output that allows you to connect the set to your home theater. Since I always listen through my home theater setup this is not a problem. But I will say I was surprised that the built in audio isn't that bad, it just lacks bass. The USB port surprised me too as it can play almost all the different video formats (codecs). Just plug in a memory stick with a couple of movies (or what ever you want) and the set plays it. The picture is amazing and just as good (if not better) than sets priced twice as much. Yes there is screen glare if you have your set in a very well lit room. But it's not as bad as some make it out to be. This is one of those things you have to judge for yourself. I watch in a semi-lit to dark room and haven't had a glare problem yet. All plasma sets have this glare because of the glass screen, it's not just this particular set. All in all I can't say enough good about this set. If your looking for a 'no-frills, non-smart' 60" TV for under a grand I would highly recommend the LG 60PA6500 to everyone.

Best looking plasma out of the box!

I watch TV a lot for business and pleasure and need a very high quality display. After switching from a Sony XBR5 LCD (nice picture, horrible black levels), I decided to go plasma. Best Buy is my "go to" store for big box items I just wouldn't feel safe buying online at Amazon. I wanted the best display possible without 3D or Internet connectivity. These features were not, for me, worth paying extra just to have. The choices narrowed down to Samsung, Panasonic and LG. Unfortunately my local Best Buy did not have any LG plasma displays, just LED. So I decided to try a lower priced Samsung 51E550 on sale (this model did have Smart and 3D and was selling at $949.) After setting it up I thought it was good, though not great. The higher end Samsung models deliver a much better picture as well they should. So I decided to try an LG but felt I needed to see this TV "in person." So I drove over to Fry's to take a look at one. It really looked great in their store, so I went back to BB and purchased the LG which they have for sale with free delivery and set-up. I decided to keep both sets and do some A/B testing for 30 days. But after seeing the LG in my home, I have decided there really is no need to keep both sets. The LG is really so much better. And I did move up to the 60" which is the proper size for my home-theater viewing environment sitting approximately 7 feet from the table mounted display which seems to be the sweet spot. The LG plasma product line has only one display that is better. It is THX certified, has all the "bells and whistles", but sells for considerably more. The LG 60PA6500 has the second best engine of the newer models and is exactly the same as the model one step above that is Smart and 3D. If you need Smart and 3D, there is a 60PM6700 that should suit your needs or the top of the line 60PM6900. This LG is selling this week at $1,099 at BB and at most other brick-and-mortar stores and online outlets. Price was not an object for me. I would have paid $2,000 if I felt I needed to. But this plasma really does it for me without any reservations. Out of the box, this set is spectacular. No oversaturation. All colors look very accurate and I am very fussy about video. DirecTV and Blu-Ray all run directly into a Pioneer Elite and then output to the LG with an HDMI cable. Although I don't watch anything in SD, it does up-convert nicely. My home theatre system uses, in addition to the Pioneer Elite receiver, Mirage Omnisats (towers, rear surrounds and sub-woofer) and a Panasonic Blu-Ray player. So I didn't even bother to check the built-in speakers. I'm sure they are better than adequate. In conclusion, this display looks as good as the Samsung plasmas that sell for double the price of this LG and to my eye is better and truer than any of the Panasonic and Sharp displays at BB. I find the brightness level to be fine, excellent black levels, exemplary picture contrast during nighttime and dark scenes and of course a superior refresh rate that makes sports viewing a real treat (go Lakers!) plus a nice on-screen menu and equally friendly remote. There is a tiny bit of glare during the day; not so at night when I do 95% of my viewing. But the slight glare is manageable. A small sacrifice for such a wonderful plasma product.

The picture is great, the size is great, and the price was great. I have a surround sound system so I'm not sure how the sound is. It is heavy since it is a plasma, but since it is mounted I don't plan on moving it anymore and so that does not bother me. The contrast is amazing, with really quality on the dark color. I went back and forth about the type (LED-LCD, LCD, Plasma) of tv I wanted to invest in, and this plasma seemed to have the qualities I was most interested in (slim size, price, dark color quality). When my dad first saw the picture he even said "Man, it almost looks 3D!". Very happy with my purchase.

I bought this TV a couple weeks ago and have been breaking it in playing with settings and such and after reading so many reviews I wasn't too worried about picture but maybe a little on some other features. First of all I have this tv is oversized for the room its in.(14x16 bedroom) However some key things to point out are the quality of the picture at close viewing... As well as any angle I got right next to the tv looking parallel down the panel--I'm talking nose to the edge here--at first you'll see the pixels "boil" while your eyes adjust then its crystal clear so viewing angle is nothing to worry about here. Sound... This was my biggest worry about the tv as most reviews mention sound isn't that great but expected when you're dealing with thinner/thinning tvs... And maybe this has something to do with the room its in but the sound is supurb. So much in fact the reciever and speaker set I had been planning on for my prior tv a 42" vizio has been forgotten. I was shocked by the level and quality of the sound on the tv. While it may not be up to par to a true sound system it is more than capable for the average household in any room size I would bet the $1000+ cost of a system on. Picture... It's hard to review and really not worth spending much energy on as you can see it showcased in the store... It's a great picture compared to.... This is an issue that's always going to differ from viewer to viewer based on their expectations and prior viewing experience to how their eyes work... So all I'm going to say is this... I installed the tv the next day the Lion King was on an HD channel and I turned it on to pass the time before a football game was scheduled to start. I was blown away by the color and the depth. So much so I almost forgot about the game and in turn ended up running out and buying the Lion King on blu-ray the next day as it was/is as if I had never seen the classic before. A truely remarkable experience even though I upgraded from a 1080p tv. Make your own judgements on picture in store don't leave this up to someones review... ask an associate to show you the tv in various settings to give you a better idea as most aren't setup properly in display. Glare or light reflection is a bit of an issue however... I pretty much work 'til nightfall anyway so I don't have to worry about it unless I need a light on for bringing work home in which I'm watching out of the corner of my eye and wont notice the ceiling light or whatever your source may be... but I've yet to ever really see a tv that fixed this issue completely Features... its not a smart tv... its not bloated with all those fancy internet things you'll never use to give the company a reason to jack up the price... For $800 more you can get an equal tv that's smart... or you can get this with plenty of core/control(sound, picture, parental, etc) and pick up an exterior "smart" component system and save $500+ . Bottom line.. for the price It is an excellent buy--after a months ownership--can't speak for longevity.

I just have to say, I was a little nervous to buy this tv for 2 reasons. First, I didn't know if I wanted a plasma or an LED, and second I didn't know how good a $1200.00 60" tv would be quality wise. That being said, I LOVE THIS LG PLASMA! In my opinion this is the BEST 60" you can buy for under $1500.00. The picture is incredible on movies or on HD. The sound is not great but it is not bad. I do not have surround sound and it is perfectly fine and it's just as thin as any LED that I have seen. The only thing thats not that great is the glare on the screen but that's to be expected with a plasma. If your considering a 60" flat screen, I would jump on this tv for the price and the amazing picture quality.

I've been buying flat panels since they have hit the market. Not an expert but I've done much research and I know what to look for. This tv is by far the best I ever had. I was skeptical on how good a 60 in couldbe for $1199 but I knew lg was quality brand. Straight out of the box it gave you wow factor. It doesn't matter how much money you spend on led LCD, it simply can't match color, black levels and most important motion blur. I love movies and sports, zero blur. Led's a joke. Don't waste your money please trust me this tv is stunning. Looks even better at home with directv hdmi single source as opposed to store splitting signals to many. A must buy!!!

We purchased this TV onsale via BestBuy.com for 799.99. It replaced a 55" Samsung LED TV. We like the plasma much better. Video seems to move better VS the 120Hz Samsung LED. The LG is much more realistic and a smoother transition between scenes or in fast moving sports. We have not noticed any pixelation or blurs with this model. We did notice some blurs with the previous 120Hz LED when watching NFL or NHL sports. We did upgrade our HDMI cables and purchased the Monster 640Hz, replacing our previous 200Hz HDMI cables. We did notice minimal upgrades at picture quality (only I noticed them because I was looking for blurs and pixelation, but nobody else was able to see any blurs or pixelation), but not sure it was worth the 79.99 price for each cable vs the 19.99 cables we previously had. We have hooked up the Wii, PS3, BluRay DVD player, and the TIme Warner HDTV Cable box to this TV. It has 3 HDMI ports, 2 composite ports, and 1 USB port. Even streaming Netflix from the Wii (which is not capable of transmitting in 1080i) through the composite port, we still see crisp images with no noticeable quality issues. The calibration settings are not as in depth as the Samsung's. The LG is fairly limited as far as the picture setting options, but there are 4 different preset options and 2 open options to save if you want to calibrate it yourself. The unit is quite heavy (approx 85lbs), but we were able to get it mounted up on our livingroom wall. We did purchase a tilt wall mount, which helps with any glare from the glass screen by changing the angle that the light bounces off of the screen so it doesn't bounce directly to you. I would recommend doing this if this were to be used in a livingroom or a room where it will be used during the day as the glare can be bad if it is placed directly across from windows or directly under overhead lighting. The sound is a great quality. We did purchase an iLive 2.1 iPod docking station soundbar to use with this TV, but most of the time we do not use the soundbar because the sound is sufficient in our 17 x 21 livingroom. One thing that we have not tested yet is watching digital versions of movies via the USB port from an external thumbdrive or external hard drive. Most of our children's DVDs come with digital copies and this is a great feature to utilize rather than the constant changing and scratching of DVDs. I will update my review once we test this and update the firmware by downloading updates to a thumbdrive and then plugging it into the USB port to update, as suggested in the user's manual. Overall, we are satisfied with our purchase and would recommend this model to anyone else if it were to go onsale. For the shelf price, one might consider another model with additional bells and whistles if there are choices available at the same price, but for what we paid for it nothing was even close. Cnet's reviews of this item were all favorable, unlike the 55" Samsung LED that we had previously purchased. I've had this tv for a week now. The resolution is amazing and with a number of inputs beats out Samsung for competition. You do have to be careful with burn-in while watching in cinema mode, which brightens the screen and turns off the screen protection, however, (so, no falling asleep with the tv on in this mode). I love the refresh rates on plasma's compared to the LED's, especially on camera sweeps. On sale for $899, how can you go wrong, and with the ability to buy 3d capability now from Video Innovation Products that allows you to hook up 3d to any of your televisions or projectors for only $400, I can't see why I would pay to lock myself in with 3d on only one tv when I can hook it up on one tv and then unhook it and hook it up to a different tv for what it costs to get 3d added to JUST this television (since this tv in 3d is $400 more anyway). Other than that, Plasma's always have a very reflective screen, so watch for light from windows or lamps that will reflect off your screen and into your eyes. It is heavy, but not unbearable. A great buy for the money. Grab it while it's on sale.

Our old 61" projection TV failed after 10 years, and I spent a week looking at lots of TVs and lots of vendors, both in stores and online. In the end, I kept coming back to the price on this one #on sale# and the picture. I wasn't sure that plasma was the right technology, but I looked at them carefully at the store. Side-by-side with the LCD TVs, there is no doubt that the plasma is not as bright. But now that it's in my home, it looks plenty bright. The thing that sold me on the picture is that at the store, some football came on the screen and up close, the LCD TVs #all of them!# costing double the price looked absolutely horrible. There were two plasmas next to each other #this and a Samsung 60"# that both looked fantastic with the fast motion. I chose the LG because it was $100 cheaper, looked better #as a product, not the picture quality#, and I have had good experiences with LG electronics. I was originally targeting the Sharp Aquos 70", but that TV was double the price and the picture was not as good for sports. If you can handle having "only" a 60-inch TV, this is a great picture. Only negative is that there is no composite video connection for the Nintendo Wii, and there is only one coaxial input, so if you connect both antenna and cable, you will need a converter box for one of them. I was able to find a component-video cable for the Wii. I can verify that the TV's tuner did scan and find all of the analog, digital, and HD digital channels that my cable company puts in the clear on the wire. Regardless of signal #analog/SD/HD#, the picture looks fantastic. I was afraid that the analog and SD would look horrible, but I was wrong. The TV must have digital circuitry to upscale and filter the analog signal, because it looks very good. The edge of the screen is bordered by half inch of plastic, and is very tasteful #I don't care for glossy black plastic#. The included stand is sturdy and I recommend it over wall-mounting. I bought a TV shelf #also on sale# that is black and has glass shelves and it looks fantastic on it. It takes two people to place the TV on the stand. The only tool you need is a #2 Phillips screwdriver. 3 for the stand, and 4 to mount the TV to it. For what I paid, I am very happy with the purchase. The money I saved due to the sale price, I spent on the 4-yr protection plan, just in case. I had spoken with at least four different associates at BestBuy over the course of the week. They were all helpful, courteous, and did not rush me to make a decision at all. So thanks, LG, for making a great affordable big TV, and thanks, BestBuy, for making the whole process very easy and fun.

This is my first plasma TV, and I am impressed. I did a lot of research before buying, and came to this TV based on price, number of HDMI inputs, and lack of bells and whistles. I have zero complaints about the sound, but I don't consider myself an audiophile at all. If you're just looking to enjoy what you're watching with good sound, you will not be disappointed. My one complaint was how to set up the stand for this. You need to lay the TV on it's screen in order to screw in the stand. I don't have experience doing this for any other TVs, so I don't know if it is standard practice, but it seemed weird, especially since the manual states that the TV should never be laid flat. It is pretty heavy too, although I expected that.

I have been looking for a new T.V. for about 2 months now. I am a huge movie and cinema buff. The look of the LED T.V.'s are not true colors to me. This was going to be my main "movie" T.V. I knew I wanted a plasma. After tons of research I choose the LG - 60' plasma. The picture quality and ease of use is great. Also a great price for such a great T.V.

I did a lot of research before purchasing this tv. I actually bought a Samsung for about $1900 dollars a few hours before I bought this tv. I got home and thought about the features that Samsung was giving me for about $700 more. The two things it had that this LG didnt have was 3D and wifi connectivity. For the money I saved, I was more than willing to give up those two features. I figured I would almost never watch the 3D and I have a Bluray player that has wifi. So, i returned the samsung and bought this LG. The picture is better than the Samsung in my opinion. I have no problem with glare from the glass on the screen. Love this TV. I have not seen one bad review on it. Good luck and hope you find the right tv for you.

Got this TV as an open box item and what a deal! The picture is excellent there is no burn in which I fought with constantly on my last plasma. Definitely has a glare in a room with lots of light, but that is to be expected. I bought this tv for sports and gaming and certainly got what I wanted. The only complaint I have is the chincey stand, but that is what a wall mount is for.

I just got this tv couple days ago and I am in love. The reason that i got a plasma was for hockey since plasma can keep up with the puck unlike the LED and LCD. I do have a little glare since my living room is pretty bright, but still great picture. Love the nature color of the skin on people. The sound is pretty good. Im not an expert but it sounds good to me. Just love this tv.

great size and picture and price ... doesn't come with rca audio outs ... I've come to learn that most new tvs don't' have that anymore ... got a converter (optical audio to rca audio) on ebay for $20! ... salesman at my local best buy store said only buy plasma for dark rooms ... i put it in my basement and it works great ... when the room lights are really bright during the day the screen is like a mirror and you can hardly see the picture ... if putting in basement or home theatre room you will have no problems

After many hours of research, I decided on going with a plasma tv. I own 3 LCD but the image against a plasma is no comparison. The plasma is worlds better. I went in to pay 1099 that was quoted here on the sale page, and to my surprise it was on sale for even lower, 999.00 Its friggen heavy so will take 2 to put it on the stand then put on the location you will be watching it from. (In my case, my dresser) I am so happy with this tv. The sound is actually great compared to all the negative reviews I read here. If you are looking for a monster of a tv, this is the one for you.
