I recently purchased LG DVD/CD drive for work purposes due to the fact that materials sent to me often come in DVD form. Although, my work computer is still a dinosaur that has a built in DVD/CD drive, my personal computers does not. Finally, deciding that it would be more convienent to buy an external drive then always bringing my work laptop home, I began researching external drives. I wanted to balance performance with price and settled on the LG AP70NS50 double layer. I have to say it works very well so far with no issues. I plugged it into my MacBook Pro and it instantly responded as if it were a built in piece of hardware (a great benefit of macs). It’s quiet and thin making it easy to travel with. I also set it up for use with my wife’s surface pro as she occasionally has to watch training videos from work, which of course are on DVD. The software and set up was easy and so far it’s working great. I rarely give anything 5 stars, hence my rating, but this device proves well for the price. I would recommend this for anyone who needs the occasional DVD/CD external drive. Since, I do not use it daily, I can not speak for its longevity and it’s performance after continual use.

Purchased the unit to complement my iMac. I use it to watch DVDs from my personal collection. It's plug-n-play so there's no set-up headaches. Quiet operation is a plus. It looks sleek and its color matches the aluminium iMac. Weighs very light ... ultra portable. A carry case is sold separately as an option.

This external DVD drive is compact, lightweight, easy to use, and gets the job done. It’s also a lot quieter than other devices of this type. It’s not completely silent - nothing that spins a disc around and uses a moving laser to read the little bits of data encoded on it is going to be silent... but it’s so much quieter than I expected. It wouldn’t bother me at all while watching a DVD on the drive. Lightweight means more plastic and not much metal. It feels like if you put much pressure on it it would likely be damaged. We’ll see how long it lasts.

I Purchased this external CD drive to go with a new iMac. I have tested it out with several types of CDs (music, movie, information) and it works very well. Super simple to set up… Actually no set up ,..just plug it in to your computer and it’s ready to go. Has a nice sleek look. Goes very well with the current iMac and MacBook line. Very light weight, so good for portable. Works exactly as advertised.

This drive can read and write almost any format. Wish it was a little faster, but I knew that then I ordered it. It was on sale, so this USB 2.0 drive works fine. If I wanted a faster transfer rate, I would have paid more for USB 3.0. Overall, I am pleased with the quality and performance of this drive. I love how small it is, Fits in my backpack with my laptop with room to spare!

Just bought a new tower and surprise, surprise, they no longer come with CD/DVD players. So, I bought this combination player/writer and can again listen to my music collection of over 700 CDs...you can see why I wanted this. It sits on my desk close enough so I don't have to get up and reach to where I keep the tower. I haven't tried writing anything yet but if it works as well as the player, I'm sure it will be great.

So easy. Just plug it in and use it. I’ve used it on 3 different macs. A 2017 mac book pro, a 2012 Mac book pro, and a 2015 Mac mini. I’ve burned photos and music and it’s totally easy. It’s cool looking too. Great for the price.

I got this because my laptop doesn't have a cd/dvd-rom drive. Was very easy to install, easy to use, very quiet and works great. It is lightweight and small enough to fit in my laptop bag. I haven't burnt anything yet, so I don't know how well that works. Great value.

Use this on my MacBook Pro and it works great. No compatibility issues and it seems pretty fast. Due to it's small size and weight I keep it in my bag and don't even know it is there. Have also used it on some Windows laptops without a problem as well.

I got this dvd drive to use with my new IMAC 5K. The casing is decently solid (light but not flimsy) and the drive was simple to set up. It rests neatly on my desk next to IMAC and the designs complement each other nicely. There have been no performance problems so far and with the nice low price I can't think of a better deal. Note: this model is not Blu Ray capable, so grab the Blu Ray version if you need it.

I bought this instead of the comparable device from another, well respected and higher priced mac-ufacturer. It works well, is quiet, lightweight, and fits in a laptop bag with little trouble. Worth the price.

The LG external disc drive is light weight and compact , you can't even tell you have it in the computer case. It copies files fast and easy to use. I work with all digital copies of electrical drawing and schematics. It's great for people on the go. I recommend to anyone on the go or even at home if you got limited space.

I was debating between this drive and the authentic Apple drive to go with my MacBook. Both are streamlined and quite portable. I've had no problems with this drive. It's slim, lightweight, and has the Apple Esthetic.

This dvd player/burner runs circles performance wise over the internal player/burner built into my tabletop pc. It is 2.0, but 3.0 compatible. When I plugged into a 2.0 port, my home made video still stumbled. When I plugged into a 3.0 port, the performance became everything I hoped for. I recommend this product strongly. It's worth the price.

After damaging my hard drive on my mac, I replaced it with an LG external hard drive which actually was much faster at loading my photo CD's. It's compact and easy to slide a DVD into. Before I had to slide a disc in sideways into my old mac hard drive which was located in a hard place to get to. The cost was much less than a mac external hard drive and well worth the price.

Bought this for my laptop that doesn't have the drive built in, and this worked perfectly. Very easy to use, and install. Quiet operation, compact, and lightweight.

I have a MacBook and wanted to add some cd’s to my iTunes library. So I bought this cd reader and it worked awesome right out of the box. I plugged it into my MacBook and put a cd in and it started working immediately. I also tried a dvd and it played it on my MacBook perfectly as well. I thought something like this would be really expensive
