In order to preserve my Verizon Wireless unlimited data plan, I needed to pay full price for a phone. Best Buy matched Verizon's price for the phone and saved me $50. Using my Best Buy credit card enabled me to spread the cost over 6 months. And, because I bought the phone before July 31, I was able to obtain from LG for FREE a 2nd battery+charging cradle and a leather back in my choice of 5 colors. (I must admit, though, that I prefer the Best Buy blue original [plastic] back.) I love the larger screen size on the phone, the unsurpassed adjustability of the camera controls, an 8 MP selfie camera, the new features in Android Lollipop, the split-screen capability, and so much more.

The LG G4 has been a pleasure to use since I first held it in my hands. It is very easy to use and responds quickly to my touch commands. Picture quality in Auto is great and if you switch to manual mode, you have a lot of additional features that other smartphones do not have or are unable to compete with. As a power user, I needed a phone that will give me an option to swap batteries out in a pinch. This relieves the anxiety of having to immediately look for a charging port to top off or wonder if I will have enough charge to last me through the day and/or night. Another benefit this phone offers is expandable memory. It comes standard with internal 32gb memory and you could add a micro-sd card of up to the current max of 256gb (theoretical max is 2tb, but not yet available in the market.) I have three 64 gb chips available and use each for different needs. This allows me to keep my pictures and videos with me at all times. I do not have a good feeling with internet cloud storage due to security and relying on them to be up and running at all times ( and due to the fact that the government and hackers will find a way to see your stuff ) but use my internal cloud drive at home (1tb at home.) Here are my Pros and Cons for this unit. PROs -much faster than my previous phones -display screen is very bright -display quality is rich and very true to what is directly in front of you -expandable external memory -swappable battery -with mid to heavy usage I do not have to swap batteries until after 12 or so hours ( I am not always by a charger and this relieves battery anxiety ) -rear speaker is very loud -comes with quickcharge 2.0 for fast charging (if you have proper components) -pictures in auto mode are great and and even greater in manual and allows for saving in RAW mode for better photoshop or other software editing on desktop computer -power and volume on back minimizes accidental button presses (did this a lot of my galaxy and previous phones) -touch (knock code) unlocking -home buttons customization (up to five separate buttons) -excellent videos (and with expandable memory I do not worry about running out of memory at full high def quality) CONs -screen gets hot at full bright -battery drains fast at full bright -phone without a case gives a cheap look (but I have always used cases so this is irrelevant ) -(Verizon related only) Verizon installed unnecessary bloatware and removed FM capability (would be nice to have but not a deal breaker), removed LG Smart Settings and Smart World, multi settings, and themes. -Not as pretty to look at without case like the S6 family or iPhone 6 family, but trumped by swappable memory and expandable memory and I use a case. -Not standard with wireless charging out of the box ( I added the wireless charging sticker and bought a wireless charger from a third party and it was less than $30 shipped. Current wireless charging is very slow and is useful if you are not using phone, otherwise you will drain faster than charging when in use ) -does not come with quickcharge 2.0 charger and cable (bought that third party and there is a difference between oem and quickcharge 2.0 components, great to use this option when using phone and charging concurrently) Bottomline: While this may not be the totally fastest phone that is out there, I do not need that. When am I going to use max speed anyway? This benchmarking testers use is meaningless to me and is like comparing cars . When am I going to need to go 0-60 is 4 seconds and use a top speed of 150mph? ummm...NEVER!!! I choose function and real world versatility and use over fashion and benchmarks any day. This phone has been good to me in this first month so far and has a better build quality than the previous Galaxy 3,4,5 and Motorola phones I have had before. (All of these has swappable batteries and expandable memory, btw.) Even with a few shortcomings, I will still give this a 5 star rating. Other phones considered were through Verizon and included the: HTC M9 Samsung Galaxy S6, S6 edge, and Note4 iPhone 6 and 6 plus Motorola Droid Turbo Sony Nexus

Of course I love that it has a removable battery and an SD slot. The camera is one of the better ones i have seen. I also like that I am able to move some apps to my SD card, even though I can only move some, it is still better in that regard than the HTC One M8 I had before. Keep in mind that I did not root either phone, if I had of course I would be able to move any app I wanted to. However, overall I think the M8 is better than the G4 and at times I still think I should have purchased the M9, but to me the M9 was not a significant improvement on the M8 so I decided to go with something different. The G4 is not as aesthetically pleasing as the M9 or the M8 for that matter and I frequently use up all the G4's RAM, something that never occurred with my M8. Given the price and the extra battery, charging cradle and SD card I received from LG, the G4 was definitely a good value for the cost, especially since I had also considered the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge, whose cost would have been significantly higher as I would have required more storage for my music without the SD card option.

Great camera which launches quickly. Works well with built in infrared as a universal remote for multiple rooms. Expandable memory is a plus. Battery life lasts through the day, but you can carry an extra and swap it out if you are a power user. Great incentives from best buy and lg as well. Everything s6 has to offer and more, all at a lower price.

This phone is AWESOME! Particularly since BestBuy had it on sale for a buck (plus tax). I wish I could have waited for the G5, BUT my previous Samsung Galaxy 4 totally died on me. But for a Buck?!?! There's no complaints. The camera is KEY, the OS is silky smooth, and expandable memory is awesome. HOWEVER, it does drain battery and there's a bunch of bloatware. You can disable said bloatware, but you can't save a bunch of the apps to your expandable card which is why it's not the perfect phone.

Coming from the iPhone 4S any new phone is a welcome change but the LG G4 in particular has been a fantastic breath of fresh air. I spent 6 months trying to decide on a new phone, as I pay full price and keep them for a few years before I upgrade, so I wanted something that would last. I also wanted expandable storage making it easy for me to switch to a new SD card when necessary (I don't have a computer where I can simply just upload and save nor do I trust Cloud storage). I was intially hesitate on the size and didn't even considerate the G series at the beginning of my search because of it. However, its thin bezels makes this phone all screen and I find myself using one hand comftably at times. Software is smooth and pretty flawless. UI isn't as awful as I originally thought and after a month, I'm still using it and SmartBullition. (Circle Case is pretty amazing too.) Its pretty customizable on its own, which I enjoy. Love the buttons on the back! Never thought I'd get used to it but now it's like second nature. Slight curve feels comfortable in the hand. When using on a table, a towel or napkin will prevent rocking, not that it rocks much to begin with. Replaceable battery is very nice to have and should be standard in phones. I don't play games just heavy internet browsing and media play so I cant contest on the battery too much but I have to say that for my needs it does last me a full 8 hour day. Camera is amazing, more than I need. Call quality is great! Phone does get slightly hot near the camera where you can feel it on screen as well but I haven't received a warning message or felt that I needed to stop using it because of it. The price is fantastic not just compared to the competition but what you get for the money. Plus BestBuy price matched it and I received the LG promotional items within 2 weeks of my purchase. All and all, extremely impressed!!! Beware though, if you buy the Verizon version they remove 6 key features including Smart Features, Costume Themes, and Account User just to name three. Other than that, love my LG G4!!

I read up on getting the Samsung or Motorola or this LG. I knew some had written concerns about the LG, but for me, none of them ended up to be significant for me. Some were saying the Samsung screen is brighter. Coming from the S4, the LG's screen is brighter and works great for me. And it is sharp and clear. Others had concerns about processing speed, but I'm not seeing any limitations. Plus, the camera is excellent, and one can install SD cards if you really need the memory. But the biggest reason...one can replace the battery. I get great battery life, but knowing I can carry a spare if needed puts this way over the top.

As a dedicated androids fan. I have owned every Samsung Galaxy just shy of the S6. After the dreaded battery life of the S5, I decided to make the switch to the LG G4. I could not be more pleased with my decision to make the switch. The battery life is hands down the best. I can take my phone off charge at 4am, by evening time. I've never fell below 80% with continuous usage throughout the day. The camera is amazing. Great quality. The volume button being located on the back makes adjusting the sound while in a case on your hip so much easier though it does take some getting use to. I am very pleased with my purchase. I would highly recommend this phone.

After much careful research, anticipation, and most of all a NEED for a new cell phone, I opted for the LG G4 primarily because of the expandable SD card slot and the removable battery. My previous phone was the Samsung Galaxy S3, which was a GREAT phone, but overtime, it lagged and the processor and RAM could not keep up with the updated apps and firmware. First of all, I like the G4, but don't love it because I feel that the screen size could be a bit smaller since I'm the type not to watch movies or play too many games on a mobile device. Second, the camera still doesn't compare to a Samsung Galaxy. Sure, it may have improved aperture, but even the manual controls, if I decide to go a little more "professional" seem confusing without the proper labels attached to each of the settings. However, because I hate cloud storage and this was the only phone that would at least be somewhat in the same league as the GS6 and the HTC M9, I chose the G4 because they kept the SD card slot and the removable battery. Overall, it's a good phone.

This is an excellent phone! It feels good and sturdy in the hand without being heavy. The screen is bright and crisp. And the camera on this thing... WOW! Even if you don't use the manual settings, which are great on their own, the auto mode takes great, clear, colorful photos! And the battery life is phenomenal! I work in an office with very poor signal. My prior phone would be at 40% battery by lunch. This phone... 87% when I get home after a full day. (I don't use the phone much at work) I'm not sure if it's just smarter about searching for signal, but it makes me happy to not have to worry about plugging up my phone at work. I will say that the screen does pull energy pretty quickly. I just streamed Pandora in the car via audio jack for three hours with the screen off and lost only 6% of the battery. But 10 minutes of browsing and a few more to write this review, and another 11% is gone. Still not terrible considering the quality of this screen... LG is currently running a promotion offering some freebies if you send them a copy of the receipt. Included with that is a spare battery and its own charger. It's nice to have that backup so I don't have to conserve if I don't want to... It's also nice that LG and Verizon didn't bloat the OS too much, and what they did add is subtly tucked away in a menu group so it's not in your face all the time. Having all of the physical buttons on the back is, umm... different, but I'm adjusting well to it. It's not too awkward, but the rest of the phone more than makes up for it. Overall, this is a wonderful phone and I highly recommend it!

This phone is fast, has great screen and an excellent camera (especially in low lighting situations) and still has the expandable microSD storage that other phones are now dropping. The expandable storage alone was enough for me to pass on the newest phones from Apple and Samsung.

This is by far the best smartphone that I have ever owned. Great battery life, excellent graphics and camera is the best on the market. The phone is comfortable to hold and handle. I only rated the 4 stars because after 10 months, it developed the notorious boot loop issue without warning. My Verizon protection replaced the phone the next day even thjough Best Buy would not stand behind the phone even though LG had admitted that the issue was a hardware mistake and replaced all of the phones without charge. No problems since that time and replaced phone works beautifully.

I have used the phone for a month now and my daughter has a s6 and my wife a note 5. We can all do the same things but they like the organization of mine a little better than their. They really envy the fact that I can place a micro-SD card in the phone for extended memory. If you are not hooked on a particular brand consider the LG for price. But either LG or Samsung before the over priced Apple.

I am a huge fan of this phone after having an HTC since 2011. I love the camera, the speed, the battery life and the screen size. The only downside is that Verizon has stripped some of the features like Smart Settings and Multi-User Accounts. That is an issue with Verizon though and not the phone itself.

Had an LG G3 before the G4 and decided to purchase based on promotions from both Best Buy and LG. I've been very happy with the phone so far (had it a week). OS speed is an improvement, camera quality is crazy and the speed it takes shots is as well. I love the slight curve of the phone. Battery life and the UI theme are an improvement over the G3 as well. As a power user, LG provided me with the only choice since HTC and Samsung no longer have removable batteries or SD card slots. There are a couple "cons" so far but nothing near deal breaking. The camera app has a lot less options. 1:1, 4:3 or 16:9. Right now my pictures are like 8MB each. Sometimes I don't need to take a 16MP picture LOL. Removing Smart Stay (keep screen on when looking at it) was just a stupid idea on LG's part. Also, a Verizon gripe is that all new phones (including the G4) only have 1 cellular radio in them. That means unless you activate Advanced Calling you can't use data/MMS while on the phone....and on top of that you have to be on a 4G VoLTE enabled tower. The G3 (until the Advanced Calling update), G2, Galaxy S4, etc all could do SVDO (use 3G for calls and 4G LTE for internet). Also, to potential/current owners - Verizon is to blame for the removal of multiple user mode, themes, and the FM radio. The other carriers have those features. Google it to see. Also, for battery life, a lot of it has to do with what version of Google/Google Now you have. Even on my G3 I did an update to it and it was draining almost 1% per minute. Went back to stock version and back to battery lasting 14+ hours.

I've owned this phone for several months now. I read all the user reviews before I made my decision, also all of the industry and trade reviews. Bottom line, I can report that there is no down-side to this phone. Negative reviewers who cite battery-life problems must be working very hard at creating problems for themselves. I work my phone very hard, and yet I rarely finish the day with less than 70% power remaining. Sound quality on phone calls is great, whether you listen/talk to the phone directly, use the 'speaker-phone' option, or use a blue-tooth headset. Finally, the screen resolution is remarkable - equivalent to 4K Ultra-HD. I recently watched the live broadcast of the end of a college football game that had gone into overtime. Using a Verizireless 4G connection, the images were crisp and flawless, the colors were bright and true to life, and there was no motion-blur at all. You can get a different phone if you want, but - "in my opinion" - you won't find one that's better.

The buttons on the back take a little while to get used to, but when you do they're actually more convenient. You can adjust the volume of your music without taking your phone out of your pocket by pushing the buttons through the fabric of your pocket. The backplate is plastic and feels cheap but is a trade off I see as worth it since you can remove the battery or expand storage with a microSD card. The biggest problem with the phone is the absolutely atrocious speakers. Often times I can't understand what people are saying in videos unless I hold the speaker (Which is on the back for some stupid reason) right up to my ear. If speaker quality is important to you go with an HTC One.

The look of the phone is really good, the curved back makes it easy to hold and operate. The screen is gorgeous, vibrant colors, the camera is second to none, nice back covers that help to change the looks of the device really fast.(LG gave me a leather back and spare battery, so the deal was really sweet), with the 32 GB of internal memory on board, plus expandable storage you won't run out of space for your music, pictures and videos. The battery goes easily through a day of moderate to intense usage. The SnapDragon 808 processor would keep every task up and running.
