    Beautiful phone; horrible wifi connectivity

Wanted this phone to be able to have the latest and greatest software straight from Google, instead of waiting for updates from our carrier (AT&T). Good idea; bad results. The build of the phone is very nice, as is the UI in the the latest Android OS. Except.... Wifi handling on this phone has been terrible. It drops the WIFI connection to our home network every 20-30 minutes with no warning, and requires a manual re-connect. Not good. Finally got an update of the O/S from Google this week. Oh, and now WIFI drops out after 2 minutes. Very very bad. What the heck, Google?

This phone is the best phone I had so far. I get the most recent updates quicker than any other Android. The camera to me is better than any phone. It fits great in my hand, it's smooth and run smoothly. Just a overall great phone! It deserves more than 5 stars in my book!

Google's Nexus phones have always been good quality and a decent price. Well, except for the 6p and Pixel which unfortunately have now gone up in price to match other expensive phones. I have had the Nexus 5 and now this purchase was the 5x. The 5x seems to have improved on some limitations and/or issues of the 5, which is good. I have had both now, and so far the 5x is indeed a better phone. Cons: Battery is not user replaceable. No option for additional storage using an sdcard.

I loved the phone until the charger caught on fire while I was driving and fried the charging port. So sad too. I have loved the Nexus line since I had my first Nexus 4 that lasted me 3 years.

Bought this for my wife. She didn't like the new huge sized phones, but wanted something nice. This phone is perfect. Fast, great camera, and great screen. She's super happy with it.

Loving the stock Android experience and timely updates. Everything runs smoothly 90% of the time, and when it suffers from lag, it's not that bad. It may not be the perfect phone out there, but it certainly is a great deal!

    So much lag

I've really wanted to love this phone since first purchase. The issue is the amount of slowness or lag in so many circumstances. It is slowest when using the camera (which was supposed to be patched for). They tout being able to catch great moments, but by the time the camera actually loads, the moments are long gone. I also missed an alarm this morning due to an entire phone slow down. When I awoke and checked my phone it took forever to respond and that was when I noticed I was 40 minutes late, my alarm never went off. There is a lot to love about this phone, but it is seriously hampered by the amount of slowness I experience on a regular basis, not sure yet if this can be attributed to them lack of RAM or it is something in an application or the OS in general.

I have been using this Nexus 5x for about a month. I had owned HTC ONE before. I can say that my HTC phone was much better in terms of look and performance. The battery life is the same though (with moderate use I can make a day without charging it).

If the Nexus 6P is out of your price range, this is a great alternative. Running stock Android straight from Google gives you more benefits than any other smartphone. It runs very smooth and aside from the plastic build quality, this is an overall fantastic device.

I have always been a fan of Google's Nexus phones because of the pricing to buy the phone out right and having a pure Android experience without all the software bloatware manufacturers put on their phones.

Except for the outer back cover that's made of plastic, there's really not much to complain about this phone . You do cut down on the price significantly when compared to the Nexus 6P which has a metal cover and a polished look. The trade off is your choice.

The Nexus 5X is a good phone. A quality device at a cheap price, it presents the clean Android experience from Google in a comfortable and well-performing package. However, there is a known design issue where every Nexus 5X will inevitably get stuck in a boot-loop - leaving the phone unusable and worthless. My time prior to the boot-loop was good but avoid this phone.

i used it. i enjoyed it. but the way to go is Google Pixel. Better bang for your buck. Future proof and DayDream VR ready with the Google Pixel. I had plenty of gitters and apps closing with the 5x. battery life was 4-5 hours I'm a heavy user. I am what I am. As of November 2016 no longer a must buy.
