This is now the 3rd LG Gram 17 that I have purchased and this is clearly the best. I have bought each of the last 3 editions.
Here is what I like:
1. VERY light, under 3 pounds. Easy to carry.
2. Small bezels, fits easily in my pack designed for a 15 inch laptop.
3. Keyboard is good. Key travel is pleasant. 2 Backlight modes. Keys are plenty big. Full size number pad.
4. Large, responsive touch pad.
5. Plenty of ports. This particular one has 3 USB 3 and another Thunderbolt 3. There is another model this year with 2 Thunderbolt 4s and 2 USB 3s...I like this configuration better.
6. SCREEN IS A BEAUTY. This screen is about a 2k. Colors are rich. When sitting next to my LG widescreen monitor, it is clearly the better of them. It is NOT a touch screen which is fine with me. If I want fingerprints, I'll switch to my iPad.
7. Fixit rating of 9/10, but there is not much to repair on the machine.
8. Superb battery life, for sure over 8 hours in real world...some say much more.
9. Very quiet. Fan runs for a few minutes after start up and then it is silent.
10. Improved graphics with the iRISx. All I need, but I don't game.
11. Boots up in 8 seconds. See my YouTube video comparing this year's boot time with last year's.
12. Fingerprint recognition occurs when you turn it on even before you reach Windows. Works fast.
13. Contains not 1 but 2 1TB NVMe SSDs. One is configured as a data drive. Plenty of room.
The speakers are only average, but OK.
I don't like the covered screws on the bottom. There are 5 rubber feet and plastic screw covers. They look nice, but I don't spend much time gazing at the bottom of my laptop. The screw covers are VERY easy to loose.
This model has 1 Thunderbolt 3 port and 3 USB 3 ports. That is good enough. Another model this year has 2 Thunderbolt 4 ports but only 2 USB 3 ports. I like this configuration better. The only advantage with Thunderbolt 4 is if you want to run 2 external 4K monitors as opposed to 1. Thunderbolt 4 is not faster, but it does have less latency due to improved bandwidth, so if you were to use an external GPU, Thunderbolt 4 would be better for you. What I have here meets my needs.
See pictures of my setup. I run my LG Gram next to an LG widescreen. I am using a HP G5 USB C dock. The set up is great. With the dock, it only take a few seconds to change over to my work laptop.
There is not upgrading the memory. This year all the memory is soldered to the board for the first time.
Best Buy should love me. The whole set up is from them. I like to have the TV going in back of my computers.
In summary, I love the large screen on this peppy, light, quiet PC.

My friend broke my MSI Stealth GS75. I had to urgently upgrade my 17" laptop for work.
The Stealth was only 5 pounds with a 6-core i7 in it. That thing was a beast when it was plugged in. But it wasn't very portable. I had to use it on battery mode whenever I took it with me and it was extremely slow. The charger also weighed a ton. The fans would kick it too as temperatures would rise to 60, 70, and even 80 degrees Celsius.
The Gram is extremely when it's running on the battery. It's quiet and cool too. I get around 4-8 hours on each charge (I limit it to 80% charge).
There is only one USB C port. This might not be a big problem if you have the correct dongles with power delivery. But LG somehow included 3 USB A ports.
The issue with the single USB C port is that the Gram has to automatically detect if its a "sink" or "source." Most of the time, the software (LG Control Center) would get it correct and your USB C devices/monitors/charging would work. But I deal with a lot of situations where my mouse or keyboard or monitor won't work. I have to then change the "charging function" and even reset the computer. This could have been all avoided if LG added another USB C port.
Overall, it's a solid laptop. There are laptops that are significantly faster at lower price points. But the Gram is extremely portable and fast on battery mode with a long battery life. I think it is worth the price.

I love my new LG Gram. I can't believe how light it is; not bulky or clunky like the older models. Very sleek and modern with the bigger screen! System setup was fairly easy. Geek Squad helped transfer files from my old laptop to the new one.

Really like this laptop, so light it feels hardly there when carrying. Simple to set up and fingerprint power on is awesomely fast start up. Its the same dimensions of my last 15.6 screen laptop but has an amazing 17" screen. Excellent for remote work.!

Our historical society needed a laptop with a 17-inch screen because our members are mostly senior citizens who need to read large font without having to scroll horizontally. We also needed at least 1 terabyte of storage for our huge archives database. The LG gram gives us 2 terabytes of SSD with plenty of room for growth. There are hardly any 17-inch laptops available from other competitors with this much storage. I give this laptop 4 stars instead of five only because the screen is highly reflective, meaning I have to position the screen so that there are minimum objects to bounce off the screen.

I love the machine but the pad is so sensitive that it can not be used and to have added an extra TB to this machine and then to have spent 5 days transferring data over mean a huge financial investment $2000 and time commitment for a machine that is flawed in design
No, I would not recommend this to a friend
