I like the 17" screen, and it's speedier than my 15" 6GB hard drive memory. Apparently not as speedy as some other SSDs but such an improvement for me. No touch screen, but that's a goodie I can live without.

I broke my Lenovo yoga x1 first generation which is a great laptop and had to buy this one. The extra screen real estate from 14” going to 17” is fabulous. The resolution on this gram 17 is good enough that text looks smooth unlike 1080p. It’s also faster than my i7 x1 yoga (chip is 6th gen on the yoga though ). All in all the 17 gram is as close to desktop as you can get and it is super light. It does look bigger in general than a 13 or 14” when carrying around but well worth it and still just as portable in my opinion. Would have been nice to add touchscreen but I think it would have added half a pound and some thickness and that’s not worth it. I had the touchscreen x1 yoga and never really used the touchscreen part for much. There’s plenty cheap touchscreen options but if you want desktop productivity, you gotta get this one

This is a very thin and light 17 inch (non-touch) Intel i7 8th generation laptop. It comes with a 512 gigabytes solid-state drive (expandable because it has two slots) and 16 gigabytes of memory – LG claims that this laptop can last up to 19 or so hours. The resolution of 2560 x 1600 (16:10 ratio) WQXGA IPS display, the first time and I looked at it, I thought it was OLED screen (It isn't.) (The contrast was set to default and when I was watching Netflix stream, it was absolutely gorgeous.) Driven by an Intel HD graphics 610 GPU, this is not a gaming laptop (when compared to one with an Nvidia GTX GPU), yet it's very respectable for what it is. It is so light that I feel that it isn't as sturdy compared to heavier laptops but according to LG, it passed the military standard 810G tests. The keyboards are backlighted and the keys are typical of a laptop of this thinness. After setting up Windows 10 Home, and downloaded all the patches, I installed a few programs to see how well the computer works for a typical user. I installed Nuance Dragon Medical (Dragon NaturallySpeaking), Microsoft Office 2019, PowerDVD Ultra 18 and VLC Player and Adobe Photoshop. Everything works well and beautifully. Instead of using the handheld Philip microphone, I used the built-in microphone which this version of Dragon supports – and it works fine. I connected it to an external Blu-ray player I was able to play a Blu-ray movie beautifully. Of course, there is a webcam on the top which can be used for Skype, etc. There are plenty of connectors - and on the right side, there is a micro SD card (not the full-sized SD card) slot. The power button is actually a fingerprint scanner which can be used to unlock the machine. It has to be set up. It works for me, but I turned off the feature because I didn't care for that. I feel that this laptop was created for the graphic creator. It works perfectly well as a multimedia player (it does not have a DVD or a Blu-ray drive but it will play the video files on the memory card or whatever you may be connected to.) The speakers were surprisingly quite powerful and I actually enjoy having it next to my bed watching an episode of Netflix versus a 75 inch LG LCD 4K across the room! The selling points of this laptop would be under the three-pound weight, beautiful almost 4K screen, and very long battery life. A business person who travels a lot and must travel lightly is an ideal person to be using this fast laptop because it provides good performance for business programs. It can be used for practically any programs (except high-power gaming or video editing.) A friend asks me if he should get one for his son (who will be going to college this fall.) Some people may say that it is a bit too expensive, but nowadays, a premium laptop costs about this much and if it lasts for four years, it is not a bad buy really.

Wow. Shocking. Unreal. Those are the words I first thought of when I took the LG Gram 17 out of the box. Actually at first, it felt like there was a mistake. This could not be real. It is that light. I did not look at the weight before it was sent to me so it was surprise when I first lifted it. For a 15 inch laptop, 2.95lbs is light. For a 17 inch laptop – it is unheard of. You do not buy this laptop for gaming or a work station. It is perfectly competent in the power department but not up to par for gaming. But as I said, you do not buy it for that. You buy it for being the lightest 17 inch made, the fantastic build quality, the great battery life and the bright and vibrant display. I’ve been using the LG Gram 17 for about 10 days as my only home laptop. Nearly everything works great and it has all the features you would expect – keyboard with a backlight, USB 3.0 port, Thunderbolt 3/USB Type-C, SD card, headphone jack, latest I7 and an HDMI port. Couple that with 16 GB of ram and 512 SSD – you get one complete, powerful , versatile laptop. So what do not I like? Well, the keyboard is off center in relation to the touchpad. You get used to it but it is just awkward because it is off about an 1/ 4 of an inch. Don’t look into it too much, it is more noticeable if you are switching between laptops. That brings me to what I consider a drawback – the speakers. They are downward facing. While they are powerful, they can be easily muffled if they are not a flat surface. It’s not a deal breaker, it is just not the best design. In summary, this is great laptop. It is ultra-portable for it’s size and performs well. One thing that really stands out is the battery, it takes a lot to drain the battery. I’m not exaggerating when I say this is an on all day laptop. I used this several days in a row without charging and would let it sleep on it’s own when I was not on the web. It had to be 12 to 14 hours of use equivalent when the battery got low. If you look at professional reviews, they say 12 hours of continuous use. It easily best most 15 inch laptops and all 17 inch in battery life. The LG Gram 17 is one well designed laptop for both serious and casual user. Recommend.

Crashed and failed repeatedly. Best Buy Customer Service handled the return in a courteous, professional manner. For that reason, I purchased a replacement Laptop before I left the store. My only regret is that the laptop I purchased was offered as a clearance item at a lower price a few days after the purchase. It would have been nice if the salesman would have given me a heads up of the planed clearance sale saving me about $160!

Incredible tech but a few dealbreaking decisions

First off this thing is IMPOSSIBLY LIGHT!! It's legitimately amazing for 2019 in that sense. I was able to successfully prank a coworker that they'd sent me a laptop without any components inside ( just the case ) with it. Can easily, securely be held in 2 fingers. Design isn't as bad as many laptops, but could've been better simply by using a gray color for accents on the keys instead of a muted orange, and/or by using a different font on the keyboard, and/or by excluding the numberpad, and absolutely most importantly by excluding LG's eyesore logo. It's too ugly to fit in in our modern, design-conscious society. Overall this laptop is pretty cool. 16:10 is great. It's thin and light. It has a high-quality screen... Here's the major dealbreaker though: The screen resolution + size combination. 2560x1600 at this size just doesn't work, you can't use it comfortably at 100% scaling and 200% scaling is only 1280x800 ( unusably large ), so LG sets it to 150%, which results in off-looking font-rendering, icon and interface sizing mishaps, and an overall unpleasant, unattractive experience. If they'd gone w/ a 1920x1200 screen instead, such that you could use it at 100% scaling, ironically even at the cost of some pixel density the laptop would've been much more usable. Heck even 3840x2400 would've worked ( at 200% ). The touchpad is shockingly decent and uses Precision drivers. It's tied for the best Windows touchpad I've used. The CPU they chose is basically an i7-8550u that turbos to 4.6. Or at least it would have if they would've figured out the thermals a bit better, I haven't seen it break 3.3Ghz even after tweaking all the settings to max performance and using the power adapter. Also haven't put the battery through its paces yet but that's also supposed to be other-worldly at a claimed 20 hours plus. The chip and lack of graphics also make the system feel noticeably slower than most systems w/ a dedicated graphics card when you hook up a monitor or 3 to it. The SSD performance also seems to leave something to be desired, at least at this price point. Takeaway: LG, you did good. Just a few bad decisions here and there like aesthetic and most importantly screen resolution. Keep trying and you can CORNER the mobile thin-and-light workstation market.

In the last month I have tried several laptops in search of the perfect "one". I have had yoga and Dell XPS 15 and HP Spectre. some with integrated graphics and some with 4k Screens. They all went back, and this is the one I kept. The 16:10 screen is beautiful and the resolution is perfect 4k is silly on a 15" screen, even for 4k video editing. The integrated graphics is more than sufficient for me because I don't game. It renders 4k video faster than my i7 desktop with GTX 1080 gpu because it is a newer processor. I regularly hit 4ghz on the turbo speed and cooling is more that sufficient. There are a few trade offs for the worlds lightest 17" laptop, but not many. It is also the dimensions of a 15.6. I bought a nice 15.6 case and it fits perfect because of the 16:10 and no bezel.and super thin. If you want a gaming laptop that weighs 10lbs than go buy one. This is not it.

I have been using this notebook computer for about a week now, I have owned and used MANY notebook computers of all different sizes and weights over the last couple of decades, and I have nothing but high praise for this LG Gram 17-inch laptop. It is very light (2 lbs, 14 oz. on my kitchen scale) and very thin (5/8-inch thick at the widest point when closed). It is relatively large both length and width-wise as it has a 17-inch screen, so if you’re looking for a lightweight laptop computer with a more desktop-like large screen, this is it. The image quality is excellent with the display resolution at 2560 x 1600. The keyboard is typical of laptops. It is soft in feel but, I do like the relatively short key travel, and it is comfortable to use. The touchpad works well, also. The computer does have fingerprint-ID log-in capability so you can set it up to log into Windows by simply putting your finger over the power button. This is a nice feature for a quick log-in and doesn’t require you to remember a PIN or password, so the possibility of someone accessing your account without your permission or knowledge is pretty much eliminated. The specs on this machine are strong. Intel Core i7-8565U CPU with 16 GB of RAM and a 550 GB solid state hard drive running 64-bit Windows 10 Home. There are three standard (USB-2) ports, one USB-C port, a headphone port, a micro-SD card slot, and an HDMI port. As is typical with laptops nowadays, no CD-drive is included and wouldn’t be expected on a machine this thin. In addition to the power cord and a brief instruction sheet, the package includes a USB-to-ethernet adapter so you can connect to the internet through a wired connection in addition to the built-in wireless capability. In summary, this computer is very comfortable to tote around, is powerful, looks good with a beautiful screen, and is a pleasure to use.

The most immediately obvious feature of this laptop is the weight. It is crazy light, yet has a great screen and wonderful battery life. Not sure how LG did it, but they are "light" years ahead of others. Here are some comments and thoughts about the 2019 17" Gram: - Screen is edge to edge and very good. Could you just a little more sharpness, but it is more than adequate overall. - There is some light bleed in the corners of my screen, but within tolerance. - The keyboard is well laid out and responsive. It does take some getting used to the layout overall, but it works. I like the dedicated numerical keypad. - I have no trouble with the placement of the touch pad, although it could be just a hair larger for a laptop this size. The touch pad is responsive and easy to use (maybe a little sensitive). - Battery life is great. It easily goes for a full working day when doing business tasks. - Speed is good. I am not a gamer, but it is snappy with Office docs, youtube, netflix spotify, etc. even when multiple apps are open. - The number and variety of ports is fantastic. - The fingerprint sensor is okay, but loses my fingerprint pretty easily. Sorta like the iphone does. SO, I end up using my PIN most the time. This laptop doe sot have face recognition capabilities. In summary, this is a great laptop. The light weight is mind blowing, especially considering the capabilities. LG has impressed me and I look forward to future iterations of the Gram.

I have a Mac book pro but I needed a window base computer for work. over the last 2 weeks, I tried Dell XPS 15, 2in 1, YOGA C 930, HP spectra, Microsoft Surface labtop2, then I found this laptop. it is super light, large beautiful screen. slightly slower than the Dell XPS but not a big issue for me!
