I have used LG Tone headsets for years now (starting from the HBS700 which I still have and are still in use, mainly for yard work) and my last set was the Tone Platinums (HBS1100) which served me well for roughly 2 years, but they started cracking at the seams and the sound on the right ear bud started cutting in and out. Since these are replacing them I will be drawing direct comparisons from them. The build on the New XL7s seem better than the Platinums (they started off nice but began to get creaky over time) and they are very light and comfortable to wear. They feel more comfortable than the Platinums and rear band is quite flexible, they don't feel at all constricting on the neck. Time will tell of the solid feeling of this new headset will begin to loosen. I am not thrilled with the pull to retract mechanism they opted to go with over the retractable button on the Platinums. I never had a problem with the retracting with the previous set, but with the XL7s sometimes I have to give it an extra tug when putting the buds away. Causing me to worry about undue stress on the VERY thin wire. I guess I just have to be that much more careful with it. Or just expect to buy a new set in a few years (if they last that long). I love that LG switched to USB C for charging. I want all my devices on USB C or wirelessly charged. Battery life on the XL7s seems to be a little less than the Platinums, but they charge very quick over USB C, so it's not a deal breaker, but I thought battery life would be even better than the old set. If it came to battery life or USB C, I pick USB C w/ the benefit of quick charge. The inclusion of Bluetooth 5.0 is also appreciated. I rarely use google assistant or any other assistant for that matter, so I don't much care for the dedicated button for it. I am no audiophile and I'm not sure if Meridian benefits users of non LG phones (similar to the Platinum's 24bit hifi sound), but music and youtube sound as good as I need and so far calls are clear and have no one from the other end complain of excessive background noise when on a call. I also use Galaxy Buds which have a feature I wish Tones had which is the ability to pause whatever is playing when the bud is removed from the ear (or in the Tones case retracted into the housing) but it's by no means a deal breaker. The XL7s are a worthy successor to the Platinums and I'm looking forward to using them as long as they hold up; hopefully that's longer than the previous set.

Not a bad accessory but easily breakable dont like the retractable ear plugs...

This headset did not last long at all. It had shortages in it.
