    Great Design, Software is Lacking

The design of these earbuds and the case is as good as any other out there. Wireless charging works great but make sure that you have the case placed correctly on your charger. The size of the case is really nice and not bulky, but if you don't set it correctly on the upright chargers built for phones, the small size is a disadvantage. The magnet that holds the earbuds in the case is nice and strong so they snap right in. Charging time for both the earbuds and the case is super fast. I haven't even really had a chance to drain all of the batteries because the battery life is great and they charge so fast, it seems like it would be difficult to completely end up with zero battery. I haven't heard any complaints about call quality and it seems like the dual microphones work as they are designed. One problem I haven't had with these, that I have with others, is the earbuds being slightly out of sync, so there is an echo effect. These seem to stay in good sync for calls as well as playing music. The sound quality for music, by the way, is quite good. Here's the downside: The Tone Free app is decent as far as pairing and setup, but the audio adjustments really don't make a meaningful difference. The biggest detractor is the ambient sound mode and it really needs to be fixed. With any level of ambient "ON" there is a really terrible tin can effect and LG is way behind competitors. In my experience, ambient sound should include the things that you want and need to hear, but the audible noise is like having constant static in your ears. The other poor design are the touch buttons on the earbuds. They are incredibly easy to hit accidentally with the buttons turned on. Turned off, there is no functionality, so it's lose-lose. Overall, these are good for the money and will work for everything from the office, to the gym. If you don't need the highest quality ambient mode, they are a good buy. Read less

    Music to Your Ears

My son's Airpods recently broke, and since I just received these LG HBS-FN5W earbuds, I gave it to him to use. For those with teenage kids, we know they get a ton more usage as they are always on their phone. I interviewed my son on what he thought about the LG earbuds and here is his feedback. After the initial charge, I paired it to my iPhone which was very straightforward and easy. I asked him how comfortable the earbuds fit in his ears, and he said they are very comfortable. I can see that because he has it in his ears quite a bit. The earbuds come with three different-sized ear gels: he found the smallest ear gel to be the most comfortable. I asked him how long do the earbuds last on one charge, and he said they last a long time though he told me he really haven't 'measured how long they last'. He told me he has been able to re-charge his earbuds using the charging case three to four times before he needs to recharge the case itself. Based on LG's specs, I can infer he hasn't let his earbuds fully drain before recharging. Most importantly, he told me the sound quality is very good and is at least as good as his previous set. He has tried the ambient sound mode and said it works whereby he can hear our conversation in ambient mode. Ambient sound mode allows a listener to be able to hear their surroundings as opposed to just hearing what is playing on the earbuds. Overall, he really likes his LG earbuds. The case is compact and light. You can charge the case and earbuds via a supplied USB-C cable which allows for very fast charging. Or you can charge wirelessly too though he hasn't tried that. I asked him if he would recommend the LG earbuds, and he gave me a 'two-thumbs up' sign.

    Big sound from tiny earbuds!

This is my first really nice pair of ear buds that I have owned, I got tired of cheap ones that stop charging after a month or have horrible sound quality. One of my favorite features of the LG Tone Free Wireless Earbuds is how crisp and clear the sound is, especially the bass. The ambient sound is a nice feature that I am still getting used to. It picks up my supervisors on the handheld radio at work when I normally could not hear him with other earphones. The music plays with deep, crisp bass and sounds great. I like that when I work an 11-hour shift, I can either use both and the charge lasts about 2/3 of my shift. If I just use one, I can switch it out when I need to charge it and not have to worry about it. I have tried many different earbuds, but the clarity of the phone calls on this is excellent and way better than any other ones I have used. I don’t have to ask the person on the call to repeat themselves or talk over a background noise. The charging case is convenient and small enough to fit in my pocket comfortably. They feel comfy in my ear and don’t get annoying after a few hours of wearing them. They are IPX4 rated which means they are sweat and water resistant, this is a major bonus. I am really impressed with these earbuds! I received the product at a discount in exchange for my honest feedback.

I have to say I'm decently surprised by the LG TONE HBS-FN5W Earbuds. I have tested them myself for a bit with listening to music and gaming, and overall think they're pretty great! I also let my husband test them out for work and Zoom calls to see how the quality would be for that. Perks: -They're easy to use. -Sound quality in terms of listening is pretty good. -They're pretty comfortable to wear (photo shows my husband wearing them). It's nice they provided 3 different sized earbuds, too! -Easy to recharge, can do wireless charging -Easy to pair to Iphone/MacBook Cons: -Battery life isn't the greatest (however it's easy to recharge them). -Quality on a call isn't as great as a computer microphone. The sound is fine to hear someone else, but the microphone isn't very great. -Even with the different sizes of earbuds, they feel like they keep slipping out. I also had my husband test them, and he had the same issue. When you adjust it, you have to touch it and it interrupts what you are listening to, because it registers a touch. -Difficult to pair to a windows PC Overall I consider these to be pretty great. No product out there is perfect, and with these? The pros definitely outweigh the cons. Just remember to fully charge them when you get them for a day, and try to not use them ALL day and you'll be set!

    Great Sound Quality!

Upon opening, these were super simple to connect to my iPhone, I had no issues. The quality of sound is awesome and I love the ability to also hear what is going on around me while they are in my ear using the ambient sound mode. The charging case is compact and quite functional and as soon as you place the earbuds in it grabs hold to them. The app is nice to have and allows you to see the battery percentage, check for software updates and also includes a feature to find your headphones. However, I must connect to the headphones through the app in order to find my headphones, but if they are dead this is impossible. Unfortunately, none of the included ear gels fit properly in my ears so they fall out occasionally. Overall, I am quite impressed with the set! I received this product at a discounted price in exchange for my honest review.

I love these earbuds, love the light and comfortable ergonomic design. When running errands or doing running on the treadmill, these earbuds stay put and stay comfortable all day long. I really like the convenience of wireless charging so I can quickly charge my earbuds without even plugging them in! I also love the light and comfortable ergonomic design as they look sharp when wearing them. The sound quality is also great and with the LG Tone App you can customize sound settings if you would like. You can adjust how many taps you want to do what with and with what ear as well. I also like how you can change it to as where you can have ergonomic sound heard in background or not have it if you would like. I would definitely recommend these to others and will wear these all the time!

    Decent earbuds

So I bought these LG earphones to try something new from my headphones I currently use. They came in a nicely packaged box kinda like a watch or jewelry box. Inside the box was a very nice case that not only holds the ear buds but also is where you store and charge the ear buds. It opens like a clam shell and snaps shut tightly. It has a nice smooth rubbery feel to the case. The earbuds only fit into the case one way to recharge and once placed into the case that's plugged in they instantly start charging. Once the earbuds are charged and you choose which rubber ear inserts are the right size for you you are ready to pair. My phone instantly found the earbuds and asked if I wanted to pair. Once paired I put one of the earbuds into my ear and that's when the power instantly turns on. And the same when you take them out they turn off. I like the fact that I can use just one at a time or both together. When I made my first phone call the sound was great and I could definitely hear very well. I walked away from the phone to see how far I could go before disconnecting and the distance was at least 60 feet or maybe a bit more. To answer the phone all you have to do is tap on one or the other earbuds and instant connection. My second test was trying out listening to music from my satellite radio app. Let's just say I was a little bit disappointed. The sound was great but not the quality I was expecting. The sound it ok but could use a better sound or quality speakers. My other set I have by another brand has alot better sound for music. These LG earbuds could use some kind of adjustment when it comes to that. These need more bass and a higher quality of sound to be available it the earbuds. One thing I really like tho is the ability to pause the music by tapping either the left or right earbud. If you take out one of the earbuds it will also pause the music. So pretty much if you are using these for phone calls they are great! Not too bad on comfort but music quality could be better

THe LG Tone Free earbuds come in a beautiful rounded carrying case. The material is smooth and the small form factor make it easy to slip in my pocket. Opening the case, you are greeted by the buds. These buds look similar to others and on their own don't stand out at all. The presentation is nice, but as soon as their buds are out of the case - all feels similar. The fit was good and the little noises the buds make when entering your ears is pleasant. The sound experience is good, but even with the app, not the best I've heard. They are solid for the price. The app itself is decent and quite easy to navigate. I did like the UV cleaning aspect of the case - it is a great addition in a time of needing to be cleaner! Call quality on my end was decent, but a few of my callers had difficulty hearing me from time to time. I would recommend these buds to anyone looking for a simple pair of headphones with decent technology integrated.

I received these in December 2020 for my bday. The case and earbuds have a nice design. I really liked how good the fit a and sound where. The charge lasted a long time - I work 9 hr shift and still was able to use them after work to workout. However, the right earbud started to disconnect and eventually stopped working. After this, both speaker mesh came off and the earbud case started to come apart.

I like the fit and the sound is good. The only thing is I walk 7.5 miles a day but the ear buds start to lose battery power towards the end of my walk. Other brands that I have used have not had that issue.

I enjoyed listening to all types of music on these LG Tone earbuds. They sounded so nice I need to listen to music with more cowbell! When your earbuds arrive they come in a nice package. It is compact and easy to carry. I love the fact that I can wireless charge these in the case. I have multiple charging pads for my phone so it was super convenient to just be able to place these on them to charge. Now that my earbuds were charged it was time to give them a listen. They connected easily over Bluetooth. This might depend on your phone but it was quick and easy. They fit in your ear comfortably. It adjusts for different ear types and seems to find a good spot to be placed. I listen to all types of music and I was impressed. All music seemed to sound clear and the volume was louder than I thought it would be. I feel like these gave thought to equal parts of the music and didn't really focus on mostly bass like some earbuds. Very well rounded. I will tell you my favorite thing about these, they stay connected during workouts! I had other earbuds that would lose the Bluetooth connection if you were doing certain activities that just put your phone a little farther away. These stayed connected and I was able to concentrate on my workout instead of worrying about my music cutting out. I highly recommend you give these a try!

I've been using my FN5 (Black) HBS-FN5W.ACUSBKI LG TONE Free Wireless Ear Buds for over a week now and I am very happy with the sound quality, battery life and connectivity. I mostly use the ear buds to take calls and they sound loud and clear thanks to the noise reduction technollogy and the good seal they have. Also, people on the other side haven't had any issues hearing me so I have no complains with the microphone either. Now in the summer I also like using these earbuds by the pool so I don't have to worry about water splashes because the earbuds are splash proof/water resistant. I also want to mention that they pair with my iPhone without a problem every single time, they have a dedicated app where you can adjust a bunch of settings (I highly recommend to download it so you can also update your ear buds to the last firmware) Last by not least, the wireless charging case at this price point is very much appreciated, small, cute and the ear buds attach magnetically to the case.

Wow i am truly impressed with the quality and sound of these LG tone free earbuds. They were very simple to connect to my smartphone and the noise cancelling feature is for real. What i like best about these is you are provided an app to use to customize your sound and also get software updates as they become available. They fit well in my ears so i dont have to worry about them falling out. The charging case is small and easy to take with you on the go. They charge super fast and last me all day on one charge. Also having the UVnano technology killing 99.9% of germs is an added plus in todays environment. LG just keeps getting better and it shows with these earbuds.

I’ve really been enjoying putting my new LG TONE Free HBS-FN5W earbuds to the test!! Have watched movies, talked on the phone and enjoyed my digital music to its fullest! That’s why I’ve gotten rid of my corded earbuds and don’t think I ever want to go back. First off, these earbuds are so easy, they’re ready to go right out of the box and asking to connect to my phone. Even though a lot of amazing technology is inside them, these earbuds could be used by anyone. The included instructions are clear and help answer any questions. There’s also an app that provides more personalization. I particularly liked the Bass Boost along with the equalizer customization options. Another feature I love on the LG HBS-FN5W is when you’re listening to music it senses if you’ve taken an earbud out and pauses the music and when you put it back in your ear, the music starts again! Can your corded earbuds do that??!! So far the only con I’ve discovered is that this model does not include the UV nano charging technology. In my opinion this feature should be standard in all models as consumers are very interested in getting rid of bacteria. The icing on the cake is how comfortable these earbuds are. I’ve used them for long phone calls and also to watch 2 hour movies and forget they are even in! Once placed, there really is no need to adjust them and they never felt like they were slipping. These LG earbuds are an all around great product and I’d gladly recommend them to friends and family.

So these are my very first ear buds I've ever owned. I've always been skeptical about trying a pair, but figured now would be the perfect time to catch with modern civilization.      As soon as they got to my house, I was nervous about how often they will fall out of my ears, but as soon as I put them on, not once have they ever fallen out, even running around and jumping, it stayed in my ears!  Now lets get technical.               First, the case itself is a charger so when you have your ear buds inside the case, they're charging while you're on the go.  The case itself comes with a Type C charger which is convenient because everything is converting to Type C outlets.  Once ear buds are connected to your phone, I have a Samsung Galaxy S10+, it automatically recommended me to download the Tone Free app, which I indeed did.  It's an app that has a build in manual, equalizer settings, touchpad settings, and many more features that I soon discovered.              For the quality of sound, it provides a brilliant level of treble and bass clarity for the music and videos I watch on my phone, and through the Tone Free app, you can change between sound options like Immersive, Bass Boost, Natural, and Treble Boost.  However, if you want to take the sound experience to your hands, you can easily create your own custom sounds.  There is also a setting called Ambient, which allows you to hear the outer world while listening to music, so you won't miss anything that should be catching you're attention.         I spoke on the phone with the ear buds and my wife could hear me perfectly through them, no background noise too intense that would take away from our conversation.  Nothing more to speak on the ear buds other than that its something I can't leave the house without now, it's become apart of my daily lifestyle!  “I received this product at a discounted price in exchange for my honest review”.

    Newfound joy in earbuds

Upon receiving the LG TONE Free HBS-FN5W Earbudsi was skeptical in the beginning. But once I received my package in the mail and used them; I have fallen in love immediately. One of my personal best features is, I've always encountered a problem finding earbuds that fit perfectly in my ears. It seems like they never never wanted to stay put, which kept me from actually using earbuds. Until now that's always been an issue, LG has invented the perfect earbuds that will stay put comfortably with great sound and also included a cute compact Charging Case that charges your earbuds while on the go, and takes nearly no time at all . The clarity of the sound is amazing. You have the ability to turn down all of the excess noise around you or set it where you can hear yourself speak. Once you've downloaded the LG TONE app on your phone, tablet, or computer you're able to configure the ear buds to your specific unique ears . ,My personal favorite setting is the "find my earbuds" because with two kids I'd have a tendency to lose any and everything. So say I've sat them down and one fell into the back seat of my car, all I have to do is go to my phone on the lg app and click the option find my ear buds" it will ask if I need to find the left or right or both. Once you let it know the MIA earbud will l start making a noise louder and louder, until I find it and put it back in the case! And problem solved! Overall I'm very satisfied and have recommended this product to several people already. The reactions where all positive, many curious to listen to them themselves. And where they could be purchased at. Thank you LG for a extremely awesome new experience, that I've searched for going on years now!!

    These Really Set The Tone!

I must say that I am impressed. I have had many Bluetooth headphones over the years, and these have by far been the most impressive. I was hesitant because I had developed a favorite brand and didn't think anything could top it. Boy was I wrong. The sound that these produce, especially when paired with the TONE app, knocks my favorite brand off of the pedestal I had built and placed it on. The small size, battery life combined with the head spinning charge time are just fantastic. The earbuds paired easily to my cell phone and the application and within minutes I was listening to my favorite songs. The touch gestures built into the earbuds are challenging at first but I quickly adapted to them. I love to use these while I am running on my treadmill. They don't move and I don't have to worry about getting them sweaty because they are IPX4. I did have to turn the ambient sound so that I was aware when my husband would try to get my attention because without it, you do not hear anything outside of the earbuds. This is actually nice if you need to drown out the world. I also use them when meditating because you can't even tell they are there given how light they are. They are just so comfortable and form a great seal once you put them on. I also love the form factor of the charging case. Its small and easily sits in the pocket of your shorts/jeans without drawing attention. At the end of the day, these are some seriously mighty earbuds that will definitely give the competition a good run for its money. If you are looking for a lightweight, IPX rated, earbud solution with fast, wireless charging then these are the earbuds for you. You won't be disappointed. I surely wasn't.

All i can say is this headphone is better than my wired AKG but not as good as other earbuds in the market. The earbuds fits perfectly in my ears and the carry case is small and fits perfectly in my pocket. The most impressive thing is the charging time for the earbuds, in no time it was ready for use with just 1 minutes of charge. I did not encounter any issues pairing with my phone but pairing with my laptop took a bit longer and at time the connection would drop but i don't think its the earbuds. The earbuds with meridian sound is perfect for the ears not to loud not to soft i haven't used the app yet but i miss the volume feature for some reason it does not work when connected to my laptop and i get a constant level of sound irrespective of the level of the speaker. Another feature i like is single and double tap option to enable and disable the feature. Overall i am pleased with the product and the price paid, but its not overly great to be immersed in the experience the sound quality could be better.

    Good wireless headphones

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I tested these headphones using both an android and iPhone. After using these for several weeks now, these headphones have pro’s and cons. The cons are usually glitches and problems with the headphones, not something that was not supposed happen. It has everything wireless headphones should have and more. The audio quality is pretty good compared to most headphones, it doesn’t feel like it’s mumbled sound. The fast charging is very useful in most situations. Ambient sound is useful but not on most occasions but sometimes it might start in the middle of listening to something without you touching the headphones. The app is helpful if you want to adjust the sound and optimize different sound qualities like bass, treble, and you can adjust the setting yourself for the sound and the tapping mechanism. When trying to find my earbuds, they must be out of the case. If you lose them in the case, it will just ask you to connect. You must “lose them” out of the case and be connected to them for you to use the feature to find them. When doing so, you can play a sound from each of the earbuds independently. Also, if I’m not buy the earbuds, like for example at work, it shows the location of the earbuds as my current location even thought they are not with me. Water proof capabilities hasn't been tested to the max. I've worn them while working out with some sweat, but it hasn't rained here in a while. They seem to have worked well during the workout. But there are some cons like the audio blanking out in a video and calls (mostly calls), it happens multiple times and is pretty annoying. Also the headphones are comfortable depending on how you put them in your ears.

I have been using Bluetooth earphones or headphones since bluetooth technology was released. The LG Tone HBS-FN5W are in my top 5 of earphones. They easily connected to both my iphone X and iphone 7. There has been no issues in keeping the connection. Other items that I am impressed with: 1. They fit snuggly in my ears (I usually have an issue). 2. The wireless charging case is well built and easy to use 3. The sound quality is good for phone calls 4. They keep their charge for a long period of time The only con I have is when I receive a call and insert the earphone in my ear, I sometimes hang up on the call.
