I was in a panic to replace an external DVD read/write drive as the one I had died. Not only did best buy have this in stock, and I specifically wanted something inexpensive as I don't use it often, but it was a great price and works like charm.

This no frills laptop is easy to use and light as a feather. It's the perfect "extra" computer that you need to have in your home. It's economical but certainly not cheaply made. It's a go to laptop that goes everywhere with me. A great buy.

Nothing special with this and is ultra-portable. It amazes me what some companies charge for a burner. If this was laser dual or supported BD I would easily rate 5 star but it is a basic DVD burner. Got on sale for $24...excellent price.

This is very sweet thus far. came with cyberlink suite, not bad. compact portable, very nice design. i guess it works with mac as well. have not tried that aspect, gonna so try the TV connect with the product. many features not listed. quiet very easy setup.

Easy to set up and transfer to other computers. Slim profile is nice as well- not clunky looking (but it is not exactly the highest quality, but for the price I am not complaining!)

My MacPro cd reader broke and too expensive to repair. I just plugged the DVD unit into the USB on back of my computer and it works absolutely great. So excited that I was able to fix my problem for under $30. Repair would've been $300 plus.

I like that it's compact, easy to transport, reasonably durable. Works as expected. The only negative is that it prompts you to check for updates on the firmware every time the computer is booted, even if the DVD writer is not hooked up.

This external drive is exactly what I needed! With computers not coming standard with one anymore, I needed a clutch drive for downloading medical records. This installed perfectly, is slim for portability, and is quick on the uptake.

I bought this DVD/CD drive, since my laptop doesn't have one, being ultra thin. I like the design and it works great, but it is louder than I expected. I would say the loud noise is the only down point to this product.

I purchased this for my MacBook Air, and it works great. Very simple to use. All you have to do is plug it into your computer and it works immediately.

This is a very good DVD/CD drive for those systems lacking a built in one. I found it easy to get up and running and it worked very well right out of the box. It was also reasonably priced and was shipped right away. Overall I give this 5 stars.

Store sales person recommended as attachment to my laptop. I should have checked reviews first. The software is evasive and drive is slow. Will upgrade when it dies, otherwise, if you need only occasionally it is good product.

When the dvd in my macbook died I was in search of an external drive. This drive performs just like it was made for my macbook. No software needed, just plug in and use. I highly recommend it and best of all the price is right.

Older and had a drive in old computer. Now have HP Envy and find it very easy in my situation to use. (I use computer like it was a desktop rather than a laptop.). Very adaquate and price at time of purchase vg.

I wanted an optical drive to take advantage of the USB3 port on my new laptop/tablet. This fills the bill quite well. It is light weight, so it is easily transported, and it is easily connected when needed. I am happy with the purchase.

Bought this item to use with my new, drive-less laptop, and it was impressively simple to install and use. Simply plugged it in to a USB port and Windows recognized it, and the fact that it doesn't need an auxiliary power is a definite plus.

I have a laptop that doesn't have a CD drive and bought a camera that had editing software that could only be installed from a CD. When I talked to the Geek Squad they said they would be happy to install it but asked if I had other software on a CD I might want to install or a need to burn CDs. Since I did they suggested this stand alone reader/writer unit. They were right. It works great and at a very reasonable price.

Fast enough for my needs and super simple to set up. I'd recommend as other reviewers did to download VLC media player first. It's great for watching DVDs and listening to music, as well as looking through and writing burnable discs.

This slim little model hooks to my new laptop with a USB. That allows the laptop to be very light and slim, but enables me to watch DVDs or back up my work to an external drive for much less than buying a heavier laptop with DVD built in.
