Perfect for laptop; so-so for TV

It's small and portable, integrates seamlessly, and this drive acts no differently than an internal drive on my other machines. After reading about the TV functionality, I tried to use it with our projector for outdoor movie night. While it is possible to connect this to your TV via USB, the interface is very klunky. I had to choose the appropriate .vob or .dts file to play off the DVD, rather than the normal movie menu. While I was able to make it work, it was too difficult for the wife or kids to do on their own.

The Future Is Not All Streaming

Although my laptop has a DVD-ROM drive, they are disappearing from laptops. I still like laptops with meat on their bones. Not all I have is just files. I want the option to read/burn from/to discs. Its harder to lose a disc than a file in the end, and the file may not always be available.

Lg - Ultra Slim 8x Max. Dvd

Purchased this as the notebook I just purchased did not have a DVD. Needed to install previously owned software therefore I need an external DVD drive.
