    This does the job. The first one I got was defective - only played DVDs, not CDs. The second one works fine. The only thing that would make it better was if the disc just pushed in and popped out... instead the tray extends out to receive the disc. No big deal as long as you have enough space for the tray to eject.

    All I wanted was a cheap external DVD writer, and this is the one. Flimsy? Fragile? Maybe. But I couldn't believe the low price, and it works. I've been using it for weeks without any problems, and if it breaks, who cares?

    That says it all... It's inexpensive and it works. I needed a DVD drive for my MacBook, and this little baby is a great alternative to the higher priced Apple external SuperDrive. Great price point and fully functional.
