This one was on sale and for a very good price. I just needed something basic to load my music onto my computer since my internal one decided to give up the ghost. I was pleasantly surprised when I opened this drive up and noticed the attractive shape and texture it has, good looking drive indeed. You plug it in and it works instantly, can't ask for much more than that. I think this one of the better drives for the money, especially I got it on sale for a very good discount. Highly recommended if you need a drive on your computer that you only use occasionally and want something that works quick and easy.

I give this drive all of my stars. Here is why: 1) It is cheap--about $20 cheaper than the next available option and about half the price of a Blu-ray equivalent. 2) It expands my optical drive-less machine(s)--nowadays unless you are buying a desktop, chances are whatever you are buying does not come with a built-in optical drive. My Surface Pro 4 is optical drive-less (as have been my last 3 "laptops"). 3) It works--no problems whatsoever. Have not tried burning/writing anything (maybe I have . . . not sure). Either way, it has worked every time I have used it. 4) That legacy software isn't going to install itself--nope, it sure isn't. 5) Slim and lightweight--perfect laptop bag companion. I forget it's there until I need it (and frantically look for it until I remember I put it in the only place it makes sense to put something like this . . . .) It wins at existing and performing the functions that it should perform. Buy it.

This is a great little drive. My internal DVD drive had begun giving me problems, so I was looking for something that was fast but reasonably priced. This was both. It installed easily, and does exactly what I need.

After a recent purchase of a new computer without an optical drive, I needed to find a CD/DVD peripheral drive to use with it. I looked at a lot of different choices. I decided on this LG since it was inexpensive and portable and I had heard good things about LG drives from my relatives. This drive is indeed very small but works very well. It is a little bit noisier than I am used to but that is a small price to pay for this tiny wonder. Time will tell if it will provide me with as many years of service as my other older drives. Actually, none of my other drives ever failed but were too large to use in my present situation or required expensive or hard-to-find adapter cables to be used. For the price, this LG drive is an excellent bargain and should prove to be an excellent addition to my desktop.

Most laptops today don't come with built-in CD/DVD drives and this external drive was fast, accurate and easy to set-up. Light weight and slim, it easily fits in my computer bag for times I need such a drive.

All the laptops I was shopping for DO NOT have a built up DVD drive. This was the best price and option for my needs. Very thin, light weight, and portable. It will not disappoint. It was also on sale.

Sleek, portable, easily fits inside my notebook case and works flawlessly. Inexpensive but works as well as others costing 2-3 times as much .

My new PC didn't come with a DVD drive - like many nowadays. This one fits the bill in being small, light, high performance and the price isn't bad either

I would say that this drive is good for what we are using it for. However the software that comes with it requires another license instead of being part of the purchase price of the drive. I refused to pay the license fee for the software as it would not let you burn a cd without the upgrade. I went back to my old standby media player to burn cd's I would recommend the drive just not the software.

This is a fantastic replacement for your old dvd writer, or addition in the case you don't have any drive in your current laptop. The size and the weight of the drive is amazing. Just a couple of ounces. Never the less the drive doesn't feel or look cheap. The performanve is simply great. The only reason I give it 4 instead of 5 is because I don't know for how long it's gonna work. If it's a couple of years at least for that price the drive deserves 6 stars.

Simply stated - it works as advertised ! It is quick, slim, light weight and simple to use.

This is a very slim, light and highly recommended product. It is easy to use. I like the application software came with the product, for burning CD's or DVD's. There is not a whole lot you do to install, just plug it in. The application software is bonus. I highly recommend this product. The Dell PC I have doesn't have a CD player. I bought this so that I can install tax software.

We replaced our home PC with a 2-in-1 laptop without optical drive. I was skeptical of have to keep track of another peripheral, but my wife loves the portability and has found that she can now burn CDs for work anywhere, anytime. This little drive is readily recognized by all the computers we've used it on so far and it seems fast. We are very happy with it and feel that it's a great value under $50

Works very well with my iMac - i just plugged it in via the USB and it instantly worked with iTunes. I only use it for ripping my old CDs into iTunes and burning CDs to listen to in my car, and it does this perfectly without having to install additional programs on the computer. It's one cord, just the USB, no additional power needed - which I like a lot!

Purchased this external DVD/CD Drive to use with my all-in-one Dell computer since it is no longer a standard device on this device and not even offered with tablets. Works surprisingly fast and comes in a sleek dark design that is easily transportable. Takes longer than expected setting up, but makes up for that after installation. I easily switch between computers and tablets.

This lightweight, compact DVD writer is much faster that I would have expected, and allows access to critical files and program installations that cannot be downloaded, or that are only available via Cd or DVD. I lost all my music and had to go back to ripping them. I didn't have to install any software, just plug and play. It is small, light, and makes noise when you are doing something with it. I couldn't see spending more money on another brand so I brought this one. It served my purpose and got my music back again.

This external cd/dvd drive is small, portable, capable of loading high speed data on Windows 8.1 & Windows 10 operating systems quickly, easily, and efficently. It uses either a 2.0 or a 3.0 usb port. Excellent value for price.

Worked out of the box. Just plugged it into the laptop and it did the expected job. It's lightweight and small, making it easy to carry around, as needed. Has become a necessary item if you have a laptop that does not come with an internal optical drive, or if it's broken. Runs fine with Windows 10 or Linux Mint.

This drive was super simple and easy to use. All that's needed is to plug it in and you immediately have a DVD drive for movies or music. It works great for my Surface Book, which has no drive built in. It can also be connected to certain LG televisions equipped with a USB port to play videos or other files too.
