Only need one USB unlike others. It works off the power of the one USB works fast makes very little sounds

This takes up very little desk space and is great to have if you have a newer computer that has no CD drive.

This DVD unit is perfect for anyone with a laptop/notebook without a DVD device, especially if traveling. Although the trend is moving away from DVD use and my new Alienware Notebook does not have a DVD device, I still occasionally have a use for one. I use an external desktop DVD unit when at home (better specs and faster), but I was caught short when traveling and had a need of a DVD player/recorder. This LG unit perfectly fits my needs. It is small, slim, lightweight, slips right into a pocket in my computer bag and is relative inexpensive when on sale. After reading some of the reviews, I checked all functions of the unit. It is truly plug and play on Windows from XP to 10 and should be on Mac as well. People have complained that it does not play/record movies. This is not the fault of the DVD unit, but the limited software that comes with it. It plays and records without issue and does what it is designed to do. As others have noted it is somewhat noisy, but only if you are in a silent room with no audio will you notice it. It plays audio CD's as well as DVD movies (with appropriate software). This is NOT a Blu-Ray DVD device! So, do not expect it to play Blu-Ray.

I really like how thin and small this external drive is. It is easy to use and convenient to hook up!

Slim design and I just plug it in and it is ready to go. No problems with running any disk - totally meets my needs.

I bought this external DVD player because the ONE on my laptop was brocken instead of expensive fix for an old technologies I decided to go the cheap way and hook this thing up it hidden inn a drawer so it isn't an eyesore along with the laptop using my wireless keyboards and headphones Bluetooth style to watch movies in n clarity and sooooo easy the best next to the original.

So far, the external drive works well with the MacBook! It also cost much cheaper than the apple external drive.

Doesn't hum very loudly like others do and works well! Easy-to-use menus once plugged into the computer.
