I recently purchased an All-In-One PC and neglected to check if it had an integrated CD/DVD burner (which it didn't). I did some research on external drives and found favorable reviews for this LG model. So far it's been great. It's quick and very quite. The small size is also a plus. This is definitely a purchase I don't regret.

We needed a DVD drive to load data and programs onto our Surface Book. We researched the various models available and the LG Ultra Slim combined performance with small size and fit all of our search criteria. We are happy with the drive, it performs exactly as specified and is very small and light weight to add to a briefcase.

I needed a external CD RW and this one was very cheap and small. Works fine so can't see much reason to go with anything more expensive unless you plan on using it a lot. I just use it occasionally to load programs or burn music files or home videos. It doesn't burn BluRay of other HD...but for my purposes it is just fine.

This external DVD drive was essential since my laptop doesn't have one. I went for the light laptop but enjoy writing my pictures and some documents to DVD. This drive is so slim and portable that it takes up no room and is very light. Excellent for my use.

Easy to use and works great for my MacBook Air, allowing me to keep my laptop light and only use the drive when I occasionally need it. Glad I didn't go with a more expensive version like the one made by Apple, this does the same thing but for less money.

This external drive is just what I wanted... very compact and simple. I have used it to burn music CD's and load programs. That really is the extent of what I wanted it for, and it is perfect. Also slim and lightweight, so that I can slip it in my carry case when traveling and it takes up little/no space.

This is a basic external DVD-R. It is, by comparison to others, slow. but if all you need is a basic DVD-R for occasional use, so what? Many laptops and other portable devices do not have built-in DVD-Rs these days, but the need to use a DVD-R might still exist. So, by way of a USB cable and port. this inexpensive DVD-R fills that gap. It is inexpensive and works fine. It is very slim, which adds to its portability. It is basic, but if all you need is basic, why spend more. I've used this DVD-R many times and it works as it should. No bells, whistles or farkle - just business. Fancy? No. Effective? Yes. All I needed and highly endorsed.

This external DVD drive does exactly what it is designed to do and it does it well. It's a bit loud when working but it isn't too noticeable if you've got some sound to mask it. It's lightweight and it small, so it doesn't take up unnecessary space. Overall, good product.

This is an amazing external drive. It is small, ultra slim in size, portable, and works quite well. This is a must buy as so many laptops now do not come with a CD/DVD drive. So if you want to view or save to a disc, this will be a good buy. I would recommend this product.

Good purchase for laptops that don't come with dvd/cd drives. It's light weight and relatively slim so it isn't a hassle to carry around. Installation was easy and I also got it on sale which was cheaper than other places I searched prior to making my purchase. So far I have no complaints.

So slim I fits on your laptop bag. It was a plug and play experience on my macbook pro which I also bought it here on BB. At a half price than the apple super drive, it is a great purchase. And you dont need power cable, the USB provides juice for your dvd reader/burner.

The LG USB DVD drive is super thin. Does the job well of installing software I needed to install from DVDs. Unit is very portable and I used it with different laptops so far. Only con I would say is since it is external drive, it can be a tad noisy.

I have two drives and for the price you can't go wrong. This drive is great for home, travel and IT pros on the go. It is powered by the pc, light weight and slimline. Great for laptops or severs that don't have a a drive. It doesn't come with a case but it would be nice if it did.

So far it has worked wonderfully burning dual layer DVD's (dvd movie rips). I am using an Acer laptop with no compatibility problems at all. As usual with Macs, no driver needed. iDVD and MDRP work seamlessly. Pros: -low price -decent brand -easy to use -did not require the use of the second USB power plug (although I use it anyway) -very small/portable -so far, no errors in burning - Uses the same USB mini-B cord that many portable devices require. Con: -seems to have minor issues reading DVD+DL discs that it burned itself -doesn't feel super sturdy For those of you who are fairly practical and just want an affordable option for DVD+DL drives, this is something to consider.

this thing is faster than the burning on my pc, does everything it says its light weight for easy on the go its good if u have a smaller laptop the doesnt have the the input it has a carbon fiber look on the top pus lg is a good brand....

This was recommended to me in the store, guy says look it's not an actual Apple product, but this is a great product with an great price for what your doing...which I was wanting to put some old home videos on disc. Very light weight and compact..very user friendly,

The LG - Ultra Slim 8x Max. DVD Write Speed External USB DVD±RW/CD-RW Drive is a nice portable DVD drive. It connects via USB and is very thin. It's perfect for those laptops that do not have a DVD drive. You can create backups of your files on DVD very easily.

I just bought a brand-new slimline laptop, got it home, and realized that there was no DVD drive... DUH! I schlepped back into Best Buy and quickly cornered a Geek Squad member. Her 'deer-caught-in-headlights' glare quickly faded to 'yet-another-rube' schmear as she guided me over to a very large selection of external devices now made for that new market: me. The staff member was very knowledgeable and conversive about all her wares, and was even quick to point out how many of the features were more compatible with my new laptop over their other offerings. It was the most advanced at the best price that was there. I wanted silver, but all they had that day were black. Other than that small disappointment, the unit has performed admirably so far, is exceedingly quiet, and looks great next to its silver neighbor, the new laptop.

I've always had a CD/DVD drive installed with all my previous computers. I've dozens of disks with valuable pictures and all sorts of historical data I've stored over the years BTC (Before the Cloud). Now that I've graduated from desktops and laptops with the purchase of my new computer, a Surface Pro 3, I knew I'd need to purchase an external drive for it. After spending considerable time reading all the reviews that are out there for these devices I chose the LG Ultra Slim Portable DVD Writer. It performed as expected and at a most reasonable price for my wallet.

I was looking for a lightweight, slim and stylish drive to match the looks of my new Yoga laptop. This drive fit the bill. Takes almost no room in my case and works flawlessly. Looks good and has come in handy several times. I highly recommend it.
