I have a Mac Book Pro and this External DVD-R work great to install software on the Mac. Just plugged it in the USB and worked great. On a Mac you have to use the eject on screen not the button on the unit. I have not used it to burn a disc yet but I have read reviews on able to burn disc's well. I would recommend this to my friends!

So since MacBook Airs don't have DVD drives included, I had to buy this one cause I got The Sims for my sister and I thought it would only work that way. Found out you could just download The Sims directly to the Mac, which I don't know why you get a DVD then but oh well. I kept the DVD drive and found DVD with old pictures there and relived some memories. Afterall, great purchase at a great price.

The drive itself is great for the low price. However, the software that came with it is very advanced in my opinion. That may be great if someone is really into DVD creation. For me personally, I just used older, less sophisticated software and got the job done. Obviously, any software can work, so I think the drive is still top-notch.

this is a must need if your tower, which most are shipping without, doesnt have a dvd/cd drive. its good for use, and easy to carry and travel with. only problem would be is the button to eject is anoying to have to lift the drive up and press hard on it. so i have found its just good to go in file system and eject disk via the right click option from your computer.

Last year, I have bought the MacBook Pro and until recently, I needed to have a CD/DVD rom drive for my Japanese Class. Instead of spending 80 for the SuperDrive, I went shopping around and found this. After I bought it and tried it out, it's a perfect item if you don't want to pay the extra money for an Apple product. Installation and operation of this item was extremely simple, practically a plug-n-play installation.
