Bought this for my son for his computer, works great, great price.

The case seems a little flimsy on the top and bottom but the unit functions well overall, a bit of difficulty getting the disc to pop into the tray. Unit connects to computer flawlessly and disc is recognized first time. Tray seems flimsy like any low cost laptop CD/DVD drive. The good - connects and just works, price The Bad - Same flimsy construction as most Laptop CD/DVD Drives

So, for the past couple weeks, I've been using to copy my entire music CD library to my computer. The speed of copying is comparable to my 2011 iMAC's internal drive and with this drive, I copied about 300 CDs consistently and it's still holding up to every CD I throw at it. I have no complaints and I hope this keeps up!

Works great. Well worth the money. Bought it to use with ultrabook laptop.

So far so good! I've only had this laptop for about a month but it is easy to use and I like how it can turn into a tablet. I'm not sure how that will effect the keyboard though (if in tablet mode the keyboard would be on a tabletop.) the only issue I have is the mousepad - touching it a certain way zooms the screen in/out and I have to try to figure out a way stop that.

My new laptop doesn't have a cd drive (boo) luckily I got this thing. It's small and very light (almost cheap feeling) but I does everything I need so I'm happy. It is a little loud but I think no louder than if it were on in a laptop.

This is compact and gets the job done works great with my Microsoft Surface.

my MBP 15", late '09 still runs beautifully (especially after replacing the original drive 500G with an SSD/HD 1T drive), but the organic optic drive pooped-out on me. the Apple Super Drive is designed NOT to work with my computer--THANKS, Apple--so i had to find another option. this was the ONLY drive that was appropriate and would communicate with my MBP. the four stars instead of 5 is due to the LG people failing to package the drive with sufficient instructions. it comes in the box with an installation disk for Windows-based OS, and no disk for Apple, which was odd, because THE INSTRUCTIONS DO NOT EXPLAIN THAT ONE DOES NOT NEED TO LOAD A SEPARATE DISK...the APPLE VERSION IS ORGANIC TO THE DRIVE, BUT IT DOES NOT TELL YOU ANYTHING IN THE MANUAL/INSTRUCTIONS. i actually went back to the store to return it, and they tried it in a Mac that was there, and we discovered that: 1) there is no indication that the computer recognises that the drive is connected, leading even the Best Buy guys to believe that the drive was failing to be accepted by the Apple; 2) in order to have the Apple recognise the drive, one MUST FIRST INSERT A DISC. this drive WILL WORK with Apple computers, but if you trust the paperwork inside the box, you will be a fool. LG screwed the pooch on this product's packaging, and IMHO the language of the insert.

I have only used this as a CD player and for ripping as we can't stream in my office and the new work laptop didn't come with a DVD drive :( CDs sound better than compressed audio and this does a reasonable job. It is lightweight and is reasonably built for how reasonably priced the drive is. Could be quieter can hear running with my open back headphones.

A lot cheaper in price than I expected. Small form factor for easy storage.
